Invoicing | Payment - Show invoice details by default
Ever since Xero updated the online view to hide invoice info, I get one or two clients a month asking me what they're being billed for.
Of course all they have to is click for details, but users are funny that way... they're not seeing it, and there's really no good reason to have this info hidden. I wish there were at least a setting to show them as expanded/visible by default, or even just have the first bit revealed so people would notice that they can click to expand.
As it stands I have people who think I'm invoicing them with no explanation and no line items. For every 1-2 who ask, I'm sure there are at least 1-2 more who don't.

ability to edit including remove header from invoice cover note
The ability to edit including remove header from invoice cover note (that is company name, invoice amount, due date and invoice number).
2 votesHi Jacqui, when you refer to the Invoice Cover note would this be the email that is sent to the customer or within the attached invoice (online or PDF). If the latter you can use Invoice templates to customise the look of an invoice to your customer.

AU Payroll - Employee Leave type settings report
We are after a report which shows the leave accrual rates for each individual employee in bulk report. I know we can view each individual employee by clicking on their leave balance and looking at the "Hours of leave accrued annually by a full-time employee. However for businesses with a large number of employees, this is very time consuming, therefore we would like a bulk report we can run to view all employees accrual rates in the one report.

NZ Payroll - History and notes in Payroll to show changes made
There should be an audit trail in Payroll detailing when changes to an Employee record is made (for example: date an address was updated for an employee and what it was until that date, likewise for other details such as email address, bank account number, tax code etc). As an Employer we should be able to rely on the digitised Payroll system we are using to determine when changes to an Employee's record has been made. In terms of creating an audit trail, this doesn't necessarily only apply to Payroll only and should ideally be something that is normal and embedded right across the platform, however when it comes to Payroll and employees, this basic functionality would be extremely useful in the event of HR/Employment issues or even when dealing with Inland Revenue regarding an employee's details.

Chart of accounts - Option to exclude account from cash basis reports
Choose your cash basis accounts - After coming to the forum becuase I haven't found a way to remove non-cash accounts from cash basis reports I saw a bunch of people asking for depreciation to be ADDED to the reports. So obviously we all want something different. How about each account on the COA has another checkbox (like the "show on dashboard", "enable payments" check boxes) that gives the user the option to EXCLUDE FROM CASH basis REPORTS. I can remove all the deferred revenue, someone else can add in depreciation, and we can all have the cash basis reports we want.
At the very least, cash basis reports should show the user a set of GLs to opt to include or exclude.
The fact is that right now I can't run a cash basis P&L because I use deferred revenue, and that just isn't right.Choose your cash basis accounts - After coming to the forum becuase I haven't found a way to remove non-cash accounts from cash basis reports I saw a bunch of people asking for depreciation to be ADDED to the reports. VAT to be able to view on mobile app
It would be extremely useful if we could view VAT on the dashboard of mobile phone app. Director only uses Xero on his phone so can never keep track of what VAT is due.

Projects - Better assignment of expenses
It would also be a lot more practical to assign the expenses to projects in just the same way as it's done in invoices, instead of assigning them via the project tab. I notoced that not all expenses are taken into account and I had to go back to each bill to redo the project assignment to make sure that everything is accounted for, and even then, i find that there are still gaps.
The invoice project assignment method has the merit of showing what was assigned or not.
Having said this, it would also be very useful to have a report with details of bills and invoices that shows what expenses were assigned to what project in each, allowing for a faster verification. It would also be a lot more practical to assign the expenses to projects in just the same way as it's done in invoices, instead of assigning them via the project tab. VAT - Ability to produce a 126 Schedule
VAT 126 - small local authorities can reclaim all VAT. To do so they need to submit a 126 schedule, which is not currently available within Xero. The problem is that the supplier's VAT number cannot be included in transaction reports.
The ability to produce the VAT 126 schedule would make Xero a very good option for the many parish and small town councils.10 votes -

Cashbook - Compatibility with Bill.com integration
Enable the "bills" object (behind the scenes) so that the standard Bill.com integration with Xero can post PAID bills into Cashbook for bank account reconciliation. I spoke with Bill.com today and even they did not realize their integration will not work with Cashbook. We have a number of families we use Bill.com to pay their bills and Cashbook for bank recon and reports. We were shocked to learn the integration won't work and are now scrambling for a manual export/import work around but that won't scale with our client base.

Bank Reconciliation - Upload receipts from other apps to reconcile with statement lines
The ability to match and upload receipts and invoices stored and analyzed on any number of different apps to simple bank transactions downloaded and categorized in xero based on the exact amount and the relative date only. Do this without the complication of further analysis in xero such as matching or paying bills.
Background and use case: For any business primarily downloading and categorizing expenses from various bank and cc accounts and not using xero to bill customers and create invoices.2 votes -
Notifications - Screen to maintain settings for notifications
I think it would be great to have a screen to manage notifications settings.
This could present a long list of notifications for different things (e.g. for me the important ones are activity statement due soon, STP filing overdue).
For each item, the user could select if they want it active, how they want to be notified (e.g. header line, or in a widget), and whether to be emailed (very helpful for people like me who only log in once or twice a week and do a days work). As a side note, the first of my important ones was requested already in the post https://productideas.xero.com/forums/939198-for-small-businesses/suggestions/47224142-bas-notification-when-activity-statement-is-due.
However, the response (marking it as complete) wasn't fully completing the request - which is to notify the user on the dashboard, rather than only within the Activity statements screen.
I looked into this after finding I'd missed an activity statement, and so I excitedly added the "Activity Statement" report to the "Tax and reporting" widget on the dashboard, thinking this would be able to remind me... but all it does is show a shortcut to the activity statement screen. It doesn't have any notifications :(.
Lastly, yes Xero already puts up notifications for some things. One user posted a feature request title "Notificatioins - Ability to view all notifications received". This certainly has merit too!
Thanks for your consideration,

New invoicing - Change options when printing from 'Cancel' to 'Leave as is'
New Invoicing. I see we got the ability to mark as sent when printing, which is great and fixes one of many defects which made me go back to classic a year ago. But the prompt that appears is bizzare and confusing. Classic always had "mark as sent" or "leave as it is" ... however new has "mark as sent" or "Canel" - which implies cancel the print job - except it doesn't (the x does this)... So on one hand a user if confused by cancel if they want to print without marking as sent, and 2 if they realise there's an error and want to cancel the print job and re-draft the invoice without a file name(1).pdf in the downloads... they push the cancel and get a print job regardless. The pop up buttons in classic were Homer Simpson simple - "Mark as Sent" or "Leave as is" - these should be retained in new invoicing

Bank Reconciliation - Filter to show lines with suggested matches
When reconciling the bank, I always like to start with 'quick wins' and attempt to reconcile the suggested matches first. After the recent improvements, surely it now makes sense to add a filter on the bank feed reconciliation screen to 'show lines with suggested matches'?
(This software coding must already exist because there is an option on the cash coding tab to 'Show lines with suggested matches' like in the screenshot)
