Purchase Overview - Bring back old view
Please bring back the old look, especially Purchase Overview. The new one is difficult to look at
2 votesAppreciate your feedback, Karolina. We do want to be upfront that there are no intentions of bringing back the previous view.
These changes are necessary for the platform, and in line with upgraded change that we're making across the product.
There is a toggle within the page where you can select to turn on a compact view and may help with your viewing.
If there is something else in terms of the look and feel of the new page that is particularly difficult for you please do share and we can consider this in isolation and get an understanding of the support, and understand how this could be improved in the new design, long term.

Deprecate Account Transactions Report for General Ledger Detail
At the moment there are two very similar reports by default. That being the General Ledger Detail and Account Transactions report.
Could you please at some stage remove the Account Transactions report and shift the defaults over to the General Ledger Detail?
For now I can just change the title at the top of the report from the Account Transactions to General Ledger Detail to produce the exact same report minus the Net Movement row.
If the net movement was required the Net column can be added.1 voteHi Jeremy,
While we appreciate there are similarities between the Account Transactions report and the General Ledger Detail, they have different purposes given that we have millions of users with varied needs. The Account transactions report is generally used for digging into one or two account codes. It can be configured and customised in so many ways, and has columns which are not available on the General Ledger Detail such as Contact, Contact Group, as well as all the multi currency columns. It also has 'related account' to show where a transaction has been coded to, which isn't on the General Ledger Detail.
To be open and upfront, we don't plan to deprecate either of these reports because of those differences.

After adding a new location, Square not synching sales from that location
After adding a new location in Square we found that the Sales figures and expenses/tips etc where not being synched into Xero for that location. I raised a query with Xero and Square and neither side had a clue. I found the answer myself when I had to raise a query with Amaka who handle the interface, I did not really know that I had to manage the interface myself as there is no documentation from either side about this. Anway, If you log into Amaka with your Square account you can see that the new location will be there…
1 voteHey Prasopchok, thanks for sharing this suggestion!
As Xero has an open API, anyone can develop integrations for it without providing us with documentation.
If you need a hand getting set up with the Xero / Square integration, I'd check out this guide from Amaka. There's a link at the bottom of their page to reach out to their support team 😊

Contacts - Reinstate the email feed
The email feed on clients account activity needs reinstating. If people send a quote mid communication via email rather than on xero or someone emails in a query about an invoice this is now getting lost rather than recorded on their account!
PLEASE REINSTATE this was essential for credit control and communication between team members regarding clients!
2 votesHi there 👋, as you may have received communication of - we made the decision to retire our integration with Mailchimp, MS Outlook, Google Contacts and Hubspot from 10 Sept this year. We know the integration wasn't delivering the experience our customers expected, and retiring meant we could sharpen our focus on integrations that'll provide more value. We don't have any plans for bringing this back.
If you’d like to continue using an app integration, we recommend you visit the Xero App Store to determine whether apps like Zapier or Make would be a good alternative for your needs, or alternatively visit Xero Developer to find out more about building a custom integration with Xero.

Payroll AU API - Unscheduled Payruns & Payslips
After creating an unscheduled payrun via the Payroll AU API when you get the payrun it returns an array of payslips where the employee id and payrun id do not exist (the only fields returned are FirstName, LastName & UdatedDateUTC). If you then proceed into the xero admin (in the browser) and view the payrun you can then click to include an employee. Returning back to the API if you retrieve the payrun again the employee id and payrun id are then set for that employees payslip entry.
We also tried creating approved timesheets for employees before the unscheduled payrun…
9 votesHey community, thanks heaps for all your interest on this idea so far 😁
Because this one would actually be better suited to our AU Payroll API forum, I'll be closing it off here on Product Ideas.
I'd really encourage you to share it with our developer community though!

Supplier payment on account
It would be useful to be able to make a payment on account for suppliers, so that clients do not end up creating spend money transactions and bills which duplicates expenses.
It's also better to be able to see if you are in credit with the supplier on the aged creditors reports, in the same way Sage Line 50 works.5 votesHi Suki, to ensure your accounts continually balance payments do need to be matched to transactions entered in your org. It would be possible to create an Overpayment or Prepayment to reconcile a payment in your bank account prior to a bill being entered. Then once the transaction is raised it can be matched with the credit from the Prepayment or Overpayment. As you raise a bill for a supplier where there is credit outstanding you should be prompted to see if you'd like to allocate this.

Batch Payments: Reference from the Bill instead of Contacts
When generating a batch payment for multiple bills, the reference column of the batch payment is driven from the reference field within the supplier contact.
When a batch payment is made the reference is automatically set from contacts rather than the reference on the invoice. This means that in the reference column of the batch payment the invoice reference is required to manually added, doing this also updates the contact which means this process has to be completed every month otherwise you end up exporting payments with the previous months invoice reference as the payment reference.
The simplest fix is…
29 votesHi everyone, rounding back we appreciate there hasn't been much explanation before now on why this idea is not planned.
Coming across from our previous forums this has been reviewed by many of our team in product. To start, and explain logic behind the scenes - Xero allows references to be pulled from either:
- what's been entered as a reference for the contact, or
- the bill reference
Batch payments is designed to cater for businesses that require the same reference for every invoice via the reference entered in the Contact record.
👉For example utility companies needing an account number entered as a bill reference; so that the utility company knows who paid them.
If you need to have all the payee references be pulled from the bill instead of the contact record then you can remove the reference from the contact field when processing your batch. Moving forward all of…

Lightyear - Import receipts as Spend Money
Lightyear now has receipts but the import in Xero as Invoices. Can we set this up to come in as Spend Money as Hubdoc doesn't have approvals or the ability for the uploader to code without being able to publish.
1 voteHi Caroline, as Lightyear have designed and developed their integration with Xero they're best to approach with questions and ideas for improving the way their data syncs into Xero - They contacts for their support on our App store
Being open this isn't something we'd have plans to develop ourselves. Thanks

Add Stripe "description" to Stripe Direct Feed into Xero
Improve / expand data brought across in Stripe Direct Feed. Description in Stripe is not brought across which means many Stripe transactions in our Xero feed have meaningless references and descriptions e.g.
Reference: ch_3MHilDKRj5Y4ltOC0Sef6SkV
Description: Subscription creation / Card Country-CAInstead of the actual product description that is shown in Stripe.
That means we can not create bank rules to rely on description / reference data and need to manually check transactions in Stripe to reconcile revenue to the correct product-based revenue accounts.
2 votesHi Erik, the data in the statement lines that's imported into Xero via the direct feed is provided directly by Stripe themselves.
To import the transaction description to match what appears in Online Banking, you could manually import your statement lines into Xero instead.

Needs a much more refined Integration for other apps (Simpro)
i was importing invoices raised in Simpro Software to Xero Software, most of the information are not present. Only invoice date, Ref no, invoice no, and amount is present. Description is considered to be important information but that is missing (Job No. is present in Description field).
Its like double work. While integrating information form other software, xero has to provide nearly all the required necessary information.
I hope there could be a solution for this issue.
2 votesHey Tim, thanks for sharing this idea! We actually have a dedicated forum for API suggestions, similar to Product Ideas, over on our Developer Centre.
This is one that'd be better suited to that API team, and you can share it here. In the meantime, I'll close it off as 'Not Planned' here on Product Ideas 😊

Invoices - Imported invoices to retain terms from Wise-Sync
I would like Xero to read the terms on our invoices that we are importing via Wise-Sync rather than the branding within Xero.
2 votesHey community, thanks for your continued interest in this idea.
From the 4th September, we’ve removed the option to add Pay with Wise to your Xero subscription for new sign ups, and we made the decision to completely remove the feature from 26th February 2024.
Our team is hard at work on an alternative bill payment solution that uses Open banking.

Payroll - Feature for Cayman Islands
I'm an experienced chartered accountant relatively new Xero user. I'm flummoxed by the inclusion of payroll transactions in the "bills to pay" section. While the detail is hidden from some users, some personal payroll transactions (related to overpayment) have become viewable by users without payroll access. Even summary transactions should not be viewable by people without payroll access.
All payroll transactions should be in a separate section to avoid confusion and any breach of privacy.
I cannot, for the life of me, see the rationale for including payroll transactions in this area in the first place.
1 voteHi Steve, appreciate it hasn't been too long since I last updated you here. I wanted to round back with an update as we;re making changes to Global Pay Run. Meaning this product will be retired from April 2026.
With no plans for developing Xero payroll specifically for other regions at this time we'll shift your idea to Not planned, however I'd recommend exploring our Xero app store where we have multiple payroll app partners that integrate with Xero and could meet the needs of your business.

Quotes - Support for quotes with rates but no quantity
Ability to remove value from online quote. This will allow templated quotes to be used where a total value isn't used and individual pricing is set per task. Dependant on the job there are specific rates per brick etc. Which is calculated at the end of a job bet the rate is set at the start therefore we need people to accept our quote (rates) but the total (quantity) wouldn't be determined until job completion.
2 votesHi community, while we appreciate your idea here we want to be open that we don't have plans for implementing this change any time in the near term.
If you'd like to enter a quote with rates and no quantity an option could be to specify the detail of the calculation for jobs in the 'Summary' field.
You could set up a separate branding theme to be used specifically for your quotes to alter which fields are shown, and when entering the amounts you'd use the Price field to signal the rate and leave the Qty. field as '0'. This means you'll still have a price set per line of your quote but the total amount of the Quote would be '0' and determined at the completion of the job when you copy the quote to an invoice and enter the Qty.

Payroll UK API Add employee number to Get Employees
On the Payroll UK API there is a Get Employees method that returns a list of all employees with details. Unfortunately this does not contain the Employee number(as opposed to employee ID) which is the only unique identifier for an employee between different systems(e.g HR system and Xero). In order to automate work I had to Get Employees then individually Get Employee merely to get the employee number which means rather than 1 request I had to do 1 + N where N is the number of employees which makes it more annoying(and less scalable due to rate limits) and…

Customer Support - Phone support
xero are doing everything possible to not help its customers, I can't email anyone for support, my issue I'm having isn't on the webpage, it says start discussion and doesn't lead me anyway to fill in some details to get a reply, even pretending to be a new customer I can't ask a question, why would anyone buy this without being able to have some questions answered before they buy, really disappointed. been with them for years now, i will be going back to myob.
7 votesHi Peter, I'm sorry to hear the trouble you've had seeking help.
Discussions that you've mentioned finding is a community public forum and not a direct way to seek help from Xero Support. You'll find within the same site, next to the Start a discussion button there is an option to Contact Xero Support.
Through this you can raise a cased directly with our team of experts where we have different specialists to assist depending on your needs.
While it's not an inbound phone line, you'll generally find they have quite a quick turnaround and can set up a phone call where needed.
Having a response through your case also means you can look back on this and any resources shared at a later time should you run into a similar scenario, again.
I'm going to close your idea here as we don't have plans for an inbound…

Global Pay Run - Ability to include company logo on payslip
Please allow the option to put the company's logo on the payslip.
11 votesHi all, returning to the idea here I wanted to provide an update in light of recent communications you may have received - We’re making some changes to Global Pay Run to help you manage your payroll more effectively;
- From 23 July 2025 Global Pay Run will become read-only. You'll still be able to see all your past payroll information, however you will not be able to process any new pay runs after this date.
- Global Pay run will be retired after April 2026, at which point you'll no longer be able to access pay run.
This also means that we will not be making any more updates to our Global Pay Run product, and I'll move this idea to Not planned.
Between now and 23 July, as mentioned in my last post the best option here would be to use a pre printed letterhead to print…

Invoicing Address
when creating an invoice I would like to see the full customer address appear on the invoice and remain visable once the cus name is entered and allow us to edit the address details on the invoice and give us the option to either use this address for this invoice only or update them in the contacts section.
1 voteHi Peter, while not constantly visible you can view and edit the customer address while creating or editing an invoice in Xero atm.
If you click in the 'To' field you'll find you can view both the Postal and Delivery address for a contact and edit these from within the invoice itself if you choose - More detail on how this works here
If you'd like more options it sounds like you might be interested in supporting and adding you vote to this idea for multiple addresses which would allow you to enter and hold other instances of addresses for a contact.

Trial balance - Include/exclude opening balances
Can you please add the option to include or exclude opening balances for balance sheet items on the trial balance. It is often necessary to only use current year movements for tax planning, budgeting and other accounting functions.
3 votesAppreciate the thought, Christiaan. With so many different ways customers would like to view, filter and group items in reports our teams are constantly thinking where these features sit best in the framework of reports.
We don't have plans for adding the open and closing balance to the Trial Balance report itself. We'd recommend making use of the option within the new General Ledger reports.

New reports
Recreate the old version reports in the new code, DON'T break reports that aren't broken in the first place.
2 votesHi Mirian, sorry to hear you're not liking the new view of Xero's reports. We want to be upfront that there are no plans to recreate old reports exactly as they were.
All software has a lifecycle, like a car. The older it gets, the more challenging it becomes to maintain it. Even keeping the engine working requires effort, attention and cost. Eventually, you need to replace it with something new.\
If there are specifics in the new reports that you'd like to see improved please have a search to see if an idea has been started that you could support, or you're welcome to start one that others can join in.

Supplier End of Month Statement Upload
I just had a query about where should we upload each supplier's EOM Statement?
It is great that you can upload a copy of a supplier's invoice to each individual bill entry, but what happens at the end of the month when we receive Statements from the suppliers.
Do we upload them into the Contact card section?
Or should there be a separate area in the Contact card for EOM Statements to be uploaded?
Because as more and more businesses go paperless we need to file these Statements somewhere.
Thank you.2 votesHi Bridie, this is really up to the business to decide but as you've suggested at present an end of month statement from your Supplier could be attached as a file to their Contact record - this way you can keep track and compare the previous months statement to the next.
Alternatively, you could look at creating a folder in the Files inbox that you could upload all Supplier end of month statements too. Really depends on your needs.
@Elle, in the opposite flow to what you're asking here. From a Contacts record you'll see that you can currently +Add from file library so it's possible to attach files that you have uploaded to your library to a contacts record.
- Don't see your idea?
