Files - Bulk export/print attached files
Ability to export and print files from Xero in bulk.
Purpose: To have backup files and audit purposes.

Thanks for your expressions and feedback in a bulk download or print facility for Files (either from the Files library or at an individual transaction level)
We know that bulk operations can be handy, however at this time we have no plans to develop this functionality. We know it might seem like a small feat, however often even small change is more tightly woven and intricate to solve beneath the surface.
While we understand this must be frustrating to hear, we’re currently focused on making improvements in other areas of Xero and are unable to prioritise a bulk download or print feature right now.
However, in situations like these there are often connected apps through the Xero App Store that may be able to assist. We appreciate and will revise solutions that could fulfil needs in this space, but want to be honest this isn’t something we have plans for right now.

This function would be ideal when reporting on grants received. In particular showing funders the details of what their money was spent on.
Ideally you'd be able to run a tracking summary report and download all of the attachments that had been uploaded to each transaction. -

This would be extremely helpful

Need this feature as we need to download a large quantity of documents to use as evidence for a grant application, it's going to be a very slow process to do this manually 😫

Its weird that Xero still not providing this function, will they wait starting to lose customers because they cant have backups?

This is actually essential to avoid uploading files twice and be able to have everything in the same place

Lynn Tan Jan 6 and Lisa Cardno Jan 12, both your comments are so valid and on point. This is not to say everyone else's comments are not valid, it just highlights how Xero is could make the application even more valuable and easier for its users. Working a solution to reduce double handling of this issue will solidify long term loyalty and cement the highly valuable 'subscription' income it enjoys. It is only a matter of time when some genius youngster will deliver a more comprehensive solution. Come on Xero, take a look at this.

If uploaded files are not easily downloaded (without needing to open every invoice or bill separately) it's virtually impossible to have a paperless system as there's no alternate way of viewing or backing up - and given so many short comings of Xero and they are clearly not interested in any real issues raised - sadly the best option seems to leave Xero for a more practical platform.

When our second approver goes into Xero to view the payment batch it takes alot more time to click through the bill to a copy of the invoice to view. If we could export all invoice copies associated with that payment batch into a PDF file then this person could have the PDF open and payment batch open side by side and cast their eyes over the actual invoices as they go. Much easier than us having to print these out for them to view which goes against the whole point of uploading and approving online.

Should have the ability to export all bills attachment as a backup for Company. It is double work for the User to "Snap" photo using Xero app and yet, has to scan another copy to own email / drive to keep a record.

This is a critical feature to be able to download all relevant attachments when it comes to bills and invoice. Do the right thing please and allow this or provide a simple function to the underlying folders.

Migration to Gimbla completed yesterday. 2 days for downloading manually all evidences, 1 day for the migration itself (trial balances Xero / Gimbla, invoice / bills deletion, etc) - don't forget to remove API links - and a few hours to explain (well financially too) to the fiduciary company why they should rather defend their customers, good governance, best practices and possibly regulation by influencing their sponsor Xero instead of enjoying posh travel & expenses something like once a year. This world is definitely inverted but we're gonna change it ;-) Take care all; see you on other platforms.

A bit of an oversight. Xero says the following: "You're responsible for keeping records of data entered in Xero, so we recommend you regularly perform your own back ups." (https://central.xero.com/s/article/Export-data-out-of-Xero-US)
But Xero provides no utility to download attachments on transactions for backup purposes.

It's now decided, we're leaving Xero for good moving to https://gimbla.com/ However, the migration will be painful and lengthy exactly because we have to download audit elements one by one; the price to pay for freedom.

this task has been voted for the top long-standing, but still no feedbacks

it is unreasonable to waste our time on such simple and repeating tasks

xero is a listed company, but cannot solve this simple issue within almost 10 years?

As you've found, there isn't another way to download all files for one bank account or to download them in bulk. You'd need to need to click each file one by one to download it.

This feature important for us too when recovering expenses from clients. Will look at alternate accounting software

It's really disappointing that Xero cannot do something this basic. It's a requirement for us, and we will likely not use Xero because of it.
