Customer Statements - Ageing (30, 60, 90days)
It would be great if we could add ageing on client/customer statements. (Current, 30, 60, 90 days) Many clients have requested that the ageing be displayed on their statements. Current, overdue and total isn't detailed enough..
Hi everybody, coming across from the previous forums we know this idea has a lot of interest.
There is a way of using Xero's reports to accomplish what you're asking here and save the format so you can easily access and send this report to your customers outside of Xero.
Running the Aged Receivables detail report you can choose how many ageing periods you'd like to show and set the period to '30 days'. Simply Filter the report by Contact and Update to run.
- Once you've got it set up, save as Custom so you can easily access this format anytime
- If you deal with groups of contacts this also means you could Filter for multiple contacts to combine the view into one report rather than multiple customer statements 🙂
- Export the report to PDF, where you can send to customers from your email system outside of Xero
We appreciate the one element missing is the ability to send from in Xero, but to be open and upfront we don't have direct plans for making this change within customer statements in the foreseeable future. Thanks

The 'one element' missing is not send from xero. it is send to each individual customer, ONLY their data. I'm not going to run a report on the group then do a mass email showing all my customers what their competitors owe me(!). Xero is an amazing platform for reconciliation and transaction management. But with their refusal to consider this an essential part of a bookkeepers job, it's clear they don't understand the accounts receivable part of the role is equally important.

Hello Kelly
Thank you for the response but you are missing the point. W should not have to use a manual workaround to produce customer statements. In any case, Aged Receivable report is not fit to be sent to customers as is.
Your use of smiley face when you actually communicate a negative response to your customers is hardly appropriate.
It is hard to comprehend why Xero has such as an obtuse stance on this issue - is it that you as a corporation luck understanding of the commercial world? This cannot be an expensive development for Xero and yet you are making so many of your customers unhappy.

@Jodie Lee. This debate was even taken to Linked-In, with the same generic response. They don't tell us about these things in the demo, and we do not ask as we assume that it should be a standard feature. But yeh, the forefront of accounting software...

How on earth is this not a direct plan by Xero... are you seriously suggesting we should run over 100 'aged receivables' reports and manually email them to clients at the end of every month?! Have you not ever used or looked at any other accounting software that all seem to be able to do this without question or difficulty. This baffles me that it's not even on your radar?!

Thanks for nothing Kelly.
We have over 10,000 account customers... creating a custom report and sending out individual emails is not a sustainable or practical solution. -

Has anyone noticed that Xero secretly closed this Idea, so no one can upvote this anymore. That's Bad

Hi everyone. I have posted this idea on Xero's LinkedIn page as a comment. Please also add your comments, so we can get this feature implemented. https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:ugcPost:7052485507259252736?commentUrn=urn%3Ali%3Acomment%3A%28ugcPost%3A7052485507259252736%2C7054690399902216192%29

Kelly Munro - You are missing the point - We are all asking for the BASIC accounting practice 30, 60, 90 day on our customer statements - Reports is another Issue - "Building Beautiful" - Just BUILD BASICS "pLEASE"

typical of Xero, what the customer wants, needs and is critical to running there business, THEY DONT GET, SHAME ON YOU XERO

Hi Xero,
It would be so beneficial to have the ability to send the Aged Receivables directly from Xero. It is so frustrating at the moment. Doing accounts manually :-) :-(
Please will you look into this matter again maybe?
Thank you

I am not able to leave a vote on this, and the vote no. has been the same the last time I checked several weeks ago.
Xero, there may be a lot more people voting for this but whose votes are not registering.
I would urge you to reconsider this feature. -

I went to LinkedIn but couldn't see the post. This isn't a deal breaker for me, the ability to create partial invoices directly from quotes would be a much better feature for me, but customer ageing should be a basic function on every accounting package. It's very very poor to not have it, and the responses to all the people requesting it are just an insult tbh!

Kelly's response missed the point. Sending customer's statements should not require a time consuming workaround and they must look professional.
Xero, you are really not listening, shame on you. The data is all there, it should not be a major development for you to implement it.

I just posted the comment below with a link to this forum request on the Late Payment post on the Xero LinkedIn page. I suggest if you feel strongly about this issue do the same. Within this forum, we are shouting into a void. Let's bring it into the light.
Do you know what would really help with this? Having ageing appear on Customer statements. There are a lot of very upset customers in your forum who assumed an accounting package would include this basic feature. You are losing customers. Please read the comments and then read your last post to the customers that have taken the time to give you feedback. The workaround you have suggested is not a solution for a small business like ours, can't imagine attempting it as a large company. Requests for this date back to 2013 in the previous forum.

Oh for heaven's sake (he says in a way that's publicly acceptable rather than how he's actually thinking it in his mind!) having just printed my first Xero statement I find it DOESN'T SHOW AGEING!
Is there ANYBODY in Xero with ANY accounting or practical bookkeeping knowledge whatsoever? HOW can this EVER not have been a fundamental element of the spec from the start??
My frustration for this half-baked piece of over-hyped online junk is turning to loathing. My respect for Xero as a company has pretty much bombed to Zero. Utter incompetence and arrogance. Zero understanding of bookkeeping and accounting at Xero. Zero interest in end users at Xero.
Come back Intuit all is forgiven.

Yeah these are the things that are convincing me to go back to Sage. For 50% of what Xero costs, I can get Sage accounting + payroll. Users are asking for basic functionalities and your responses are a workaround that takes more time out of my day.

Wow! You guys have GOT to get the message. Can you not see the level of annoyance and frustration this issue is causing? I cannot believe that you have tagged this request as NOT PLANNED. How dare you. Read these messages again and get this problem fixed. Aged Statements are a BASIC necessity. You want us to run internal reports and send those out. Not good enough. We have been waiting a long time for you to sort this. In the meantime, you have put your prices up and add features we are not interested in. I don't like venting and prefer to be polite and respectful when posting, but what can we do to get you to wake up? Please think again.

I would like to see ageing added to Customer statements. I am disappointed that it is not already included.
