Is there a specific inventory report you'd find this most useful in?
Being open we don't have immediate plans for adding this filter into the reports, but it'd be good to get this detail that could be shared back with the team when considered.

An error occurred while saving the comment Suzette Edwards commentedThis would be a terrific addition. I see this idea is TWO years old. It seems that it should be possible to merge items.

Thank you for your engagement on this idea. To help explain a little on how this works in the Account Transactions(AT) report - what shows in the Description field when running the report is dependent on the type of account you're running the report for.
For example, when running the AT report for a bank account, transactions will show the Contact name in the Description field. This is because the detail that is entered on each description line in the body of a transaction relates to the account the line item is coded to.
To see the detail, you'll need to run the report for the account code, not the bank account. This is also how the report works for some other accounts such as the system sales tax account, Account Receivable, and Accounts Payable.
If you're trying to find the account a bank transaction or system account line has…
An error occurred while saving the comment Suzette Edwards commentedI totally agree. This is nuts! I don't want the contact in the description. The description column should ONLY be the description.

An error occurred while saving the comment Suzette Edwards commentedIt appears that Xero isn't paying any attention to this one as there has been no response. It's sad that there isn't a way to track commissions based on billing. It is a standard accounting procedure. It's ridiculous that I have to track all of this via an Excel spreadsheet (which means errors will likely occur). Other accounting systems have this feature. Come on Xero, let's get with the program.

An error occurred while saving the comment Suzette Edwards commentedThis would be SO helpful. having to look all around for a note is crazy. Also, it would be so nice to be able to just view the notes without needing a report. It doesn't help much to make notes only to have to run a report to see them.
An error occurred while saving the comment Suzette Edwards commentedHow about a report that shows the history and / or notes for a customer and / or their invoices. It would be really nice if ALL of the history and notes were under the customer so one wouldn't have to go clicking all over the place to find information. It would also be nice to have a report so that one could look and see who received statements or when second copies of invoices were sent to customers without having to look at each invoice.

An error occurred while saving the comment Suzette Edwards commentedAllow addition of an overpayment on a receipt. I have a customer who paid several invoices and included an amount for a future invoice. I now have to go CREATE a temporary invoice to apply the funds to. This is dumb.

Hi community, we appreciate this idea has collected a fair amount of votes and commentary. This has all been feedback and taken seriously by our product teams.
Currently, there are ways to record a bad debt in Xero, depending on your tax registration status and how you want the transactions to be recorded in your reports - We have help for this on Xero Central you can draw into.
We don’t have any plans in the near term to expand functionality to develop a button to write off invoices or bills as 'bad debt'. If anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea!
An error occurred while saving the comment Suzette Edwards commentedI too have to wonder why, with all those interested in this feature; has chosen not to implement it. It IS after all a NORMAL accounting feature. Is Xero not an accounting system?

Hi everyone, it'd be good to know if there are there any specific reports that you'd find this particularly helpful in?
An error occurred while saving the comment Suzette Edwards commentedI have to agree with this idea. Kelly, the biggest ones that need the account number order are the Balance Sheet an Income Statement. The main reason for account numbers are to get reports in the order of those numbers without having to include the account number on the report. This is standard in accounting programs. I have worked with and am familiar with multiple accounting programs. Although Xero is a lovely online program, some of the reporting is quite weak. The Balance Sheet and Income statement not being in account number order is a huge problem.

Hi everyone
To follow on from Kelly’s last update, the Product team have made a lot of headway in the 'building on beautiful' work which has prepared the platform to more easily build features solving customer problems, like the ones identified in this thread.
I’m pleased to share that we’re in the early stages of developing a solution that combines increasing the number of statement lines being returned to the page and a search and filter across all of your statement lines.
The product team has a working concept and are looking to validate this with some customers before working out the final details. If you’re interested in participating, please register your interest here. Given the popularity of this idea we expect spaces to fill up fast. Update: we have since closed the form as we have enough interest. We also want to make sure we test…

Hi community, we can see there’s lots of interest in this idea and appreciate all your feedback and comments. We absolutely understand the value that unapproving a bill would bring to your businesses. Unfortunately, while the concept is quite simple, the technical implementation within Xero is highly complex.
The good news is that our Product team is still keen to solve this problem for you. They have a possible solution and would love to hear your response to validate their thinking.
Put simply, instead of "unapproving", the solution would bundle the following tasks into a single action so that you can effectively "unapprove" a bill much faster.
- Void the bill
- Copy the bill
- Reattach any files (IF any) from the voided bill to the copy of the bill
A primary caveat to this is you could only action one bill at a time. So, if you had multiple bills that…

Hi everyone
We wanted to provide you an update on our progress for this idea as it’s very much something we want to make easier for you all. The feedback you’ve provided so far has been helpful. One of the big problems our Product team identified in this thread and in other customer research is how hard it is for customers to navigate their statement lines to gain a holistic view of the work they need to do and complete their work flows efficiently.
I’m pleased to share that they’re in the early stages of developing a solution that will help to improve this experience by combining a search tool with an increased number of statement lines being returned to the page.

Good heavens, why in the world are archived items even showing. It skews the report considerably. If I've archived an item, it is only because I couldn't delete it. I no longer want it showing up ANYWHERE
