Invoice - Ability to add BCC field when sending invoices
It would be useful to have a cc and bcc field when sending invoices so that either the business owner or another individual could receive a copy of the invoice when it is sent. This functionality is available in QuickBooks.
Hi team, with the release of our new send experience you now get full visibility of what's being sent to your customers when sending from new invoicing with a side-by-side view. Along with this, the team have developed the ability to add CC and BCC so you can easily include others.😁
Thank you all for sharing how we can make Xero better when running your business.

Yes, this is vital to link into our CRM for data protection, are we nearly there yet?

Thanks - the sooner the better 😊

I think this feature is vital. Together with it, I also think Xero should add the option to send a copy to that person logged in, as well as other emails of choice (ex: say your manager for visibility or a general accounts email)

Vital - please action as soon as possible as I have been following this request from many Xero users for over a year now.

People talk about the work around solutions and suggest that they are acceptable, but they require thousands of hours work continuously by all Xero users, whereas some 40,50,60 hours work by a programmer once only could solve the problem. As an ex Accountant turned Programmer I feel Xero has been developed by Programmers that know little about accounting guided by Accountants that know little about the abilities of software.

Having multiple "To" addressees is not the same as having "CC". The "To" field contains the person, or persons, who are to action the email.
The "CC" field (carbon copy) indicates who should be aware that the email has been sent but are not expected to take action or reply to the email. Adding a "CC" recipient to an email may often be used as a mechanism to escalate the urgency of an email.
The "BCC" field (blind carbon copy) sends copies of the email without the other recipients of the email being aware. Often used for privacy reasons or to hide contact details, internal mailing lists and automated systems (we use this facility to archive the data to knowledge bases).
Email software will normally display the "to", "cc" and "bcc" fields differently.
The fields are sent differently over the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP).
So telling your customers that you don't need "cc" because you can have multiple "to" recipients just demonstrates Xero's ignorance and the requirements of their customers.

Sorry but, No, I'm not going to send it to myself just so I can do more workaround rubbish to BCC it to other people.
I'm glad being able to add additional addresses into the To field solves the problem for some folks but, I do enough pointless, unpaid work without Xero's lack of basic functionality creating more for me.
To, CC and BCC are BASIC email functionality that ANY interface, that sends email, should have and have had for literal decades now.
Given the cost of subscriptions (that only ever go up!) shortcomings like this are simply unacceptable and need to be resolved. Please stop making excuses for companies like Xero to just duck shove a solution instead of earning the money they get paid in our (increased) subs.

I would have liked an extra field to be able to copy in the business owner too. I am doing invoicing for my wifes small business, as well as my own. I use my login to do her invoicing, and so therefore the built in 'bcc' to copy to yourself, ends up going to me, rather than to her. It would have been nice to add in another email address here, maybe one you can set in option somewhere and have a tick box to select, so when I do her invoicing, a copy of the invoice can go to her inbox - rather than only having the ability to go to mine. Yes, I can just copy her email address into the field which goes to the customer, but I sometimes forget and miss sending a copy to her. It would just be nice to be able to have the option to copy in the business owners email, regardless of who is doing the invoicing for them, rather than only having the ability to go to the login's email. If that makes sense.

Thinking about this more, for me, it is enough to add multiple emails, as TO, but I can see that others may place more importance on the subtle difference between the 3 classifications of recipients. I think over-automating things can also have a downside, if you want to BCC an invoice just send it yourself from Xero and then forward it to whoever from your own email client. Surely that's part of the job.

This solution is to just add to the To: line. There is a distinct difference between To: and CC:
To: - is the person that is required to take action on the email
CC: - is to allow for other parties to know about the communication, without any responsibility for action. That might seem trivial, but it is important to a lot of people.

I'm stunned that such a basic function is not included in the invoice email interface. Come on Xero!

Seems strange to me that this easy feature has not been implemented by Xero. Is there actually a reason?

Adding cc and Bcc to invoice sending email options would be a very important feature. This may not be the most elegant solution but a simple, timely fix could be for Xero to include a manual entry, comma separated field to the invoice email prompt to allow for cc and bcc that users could fill in. With the new "Notes" feature in Contacts view it would be quite easy to summarize exactly who needs to be cc'd and then just need to copy/paste that info into the manual entry box? Just a thought Xero - please can you take a look. Thanks!

I'm not sure I am on the right path. I recently added more people to the contact and that way when sending purchase orders etc their names are all there. If there are some I don't need I just delete from the line before I hit send. Or even add another person.
