New Invoicing - Keep the previous Contact when using Copy
Please change the new invoicing so when we copy the invoice, the previous contact automatically appears as default
We should not be choosing the customer each time we copy an invoice
Hi everyone, we've introduced a change to new invoicing so you now have the ability to copy an invoice to a draft invoice and keep the existing contact. 🙂
When you select this option, you'll see a pop up where the current contact is selected by default, however you can choose another contact or leave this blank if you'd prefer.
Thank you for all your support and sharing back on the idea for this feature, here.

I agree with the comments below - copying invoices is essential and in 99.99% of the time it is going to the same customer - why remove the feature - I am reverting back to old version until I am forced to change.

I use this feature daily, the old invoicing made it easy and quick, the new one adds steps and the ability to ***** up the invoice recipient by having to search it. This is a NO BRAINER - the whole goal of software is to make stuff faster not slower... please implement!

I have switched back to the old version and am very unhappy at the prospect that this will become compulsory later this year. To be able to copy the contact across is a MUST! Yet another example of actual users not being consulted before changes are rolled out.
Also, why are we no longer able to attached via xero files? You can now only upload an attachment which is extremely frustrating when you have various users in different locations using the software. Ridiculous!

I too am returning to the old invoicing until they sort out the new invoicing - although I won't hold my breath. There's no thought to what they roll out any more, it's all design over function. Much of what they do now does not follow common sense or even legal requirements (such as putting an invoice into dispute).

the name simply must be able to copy or there will be a risk of invoices being sent to the incorrect client.
I will be going back to old invoicing and hopefully enough people complain about it so xero does something about it. -

This feature is invaluable for mitigating mistakes in sending to wrong client, and also saving time.

This feature is so important and is one of the reasons we moved to Xero.
It takes away the risk of making a mistake and sending it to the wrong client -

Agree with the comments below, this is a MUST feature and needs to be kept in the new invoicing.

I agree with others' comments - when using classic invoicing, a lot of our billing benefits from defaulting to the original contact when copying - saves a lot of time

Absolutely need this to stay as it was. What is the point of removing the contact?

No brainer. Straight back to standard invoicing until this feature is reinstated!

The new invoicing is a backwards step if you are not bringing across the same time saving features as classic invoicing. Copying the contact should be a default, along with sticky selections for "send me a copy" etc. Don't remove these well used features!

I also agree that the Contact should be kept when copying an invoice, as it was in the Classic Invoicing. I cannot understand why xero would remove this functionality on purpose.

As well as copying the contact, please keep the same settings when you email - for example - send me a copy should be checked if it was previously checked on the invoice you're copying.

I'm at a loss to understand the thought process behind rolling out something that takes away functionality that we had before

100% agree with this, when you are copying an invoice 99% of the time it is because it is the same contact. What is the point of copy if it doesn't do this..

The new invoicing should do what the classic invoicing did when you copy an invoice. With the classic invoicing, when you click copy it picks up the last contact and all you need to do is confirm. With the new invoicing we need to find the contact again. We have a lot of contacts, and do not want to search for them.
Please update so when I copy with the new invoicing the contact remains
Also prefer the classic invoicing in general
