New Invoicing | Files - Drag & drop anywhere on the page
In old invoicing, you can just drag and drop the file into the window and it uploads. In new invoicing, you have to drop it in the box at the bottom of the page. Fair to say this is tedious!

Hi team, returning to confirm that the ability to drag & drop files anywhere on the page in new invoicing has now been released to everyone. We hope you find this enhancement helps speed up and make attaching your files more efficient as you invoice.
Just a reminder that you'll need to add a contact to the invoice first, and if you'd like to include files when sending to your customer, select the 'Attach files to email' checkbox once uploaded.
Thank you all for your engagement, votes and staying updated with us through this idea.
We understand some customers workflows mean they would like to attach files before adding contacts and while this isn't something that's available right now, I'd recommend making sure you've joined this idea for any updates.

Please bring back drag and drop. It's ridiculous that Xero thought that it wouldn't be an issue removing it!?? You'd think "new invoicing" would have all that classic did, plus some. Instead it appears to be taking away things that are very important to the user to make it easier for the programmers for Xero's future plans.

5. New Invoice screen – it is frustrating now you cannot simply drag across a pdf and drop it anywhere in the screen. Now it only allows an upload once clicking on the icon in the left bottom corner. Time wasting.

I agree!! Drag & Drop may seem like a small issue, but when dealing with attachments to xero transactions all day every day - this is feature is critical!!
Seeking feedback from users about what works and what doesn't BEFORE going live with forced changes would help alot, as this is now a hinderance to my daily workload....and based on previous requests for change via this voting system, it can take up to 2-3years before we see any action.....and all we're asking for is a feature that you already used to offer!!

I really don't understand why you call your complaints corner the "product ideas' forum.
Calling a bird a fish doesn't make it so either.

Put it back the way it was!

This is not an improvement request. Its putting back what was. the old invoicing was so much better than the new. What is the purpose of the new version? Why was the old touched?

The new box keeps on closing, when moving the mouse away to collect the doc on another screen to drop.
Please may the "Drag & Drop" function return.
Very frustrating and time consuming.
Thank you -

So Kelly M does this mean it will sit in 'working on it' for the next 3 years?
Would be great if the same issue in Contacts was fixed too! -

That extra click makes me extremely frustrated!!!!!! Get rid of that extra damned click.

I completely agree with Mark & Chantal. Please can you return the ability to drag & drop into the box (without opening it beforehand).
It's also irritating to select to attach the file when creating the invoice & sent with the invoice and then separately to have to select to send the attachment as part of the email when you sent the invoice. Can you add a setting to allow us to set - as default - that if we attach a file to an invoice, it is sent with the email? Why would we attach a file if we didnt want it to be sent?!

This is such a pain having to expand the files box to add any files. Should be able to drag and drop files on this like you could do previously and as you can do with bills, PO's etc

This still hasn't been fixed. Now the attach file box sometimes closes automatically, between attaching files, meaning i have to keep going back to click on invoice, reopen it and then go back to files to drag another file across. Also please have it so that you can set as a default that all attachments are attached as .pdf to invoice, it is very tedious this process and far removed from the old invoicing process. Why do you change things instead of just improving on the old one, why take things away????

With buyer-created invoices being the bulk of my invoicing this is frustrating to not drag and drop like every other window is able to (bills, spend money etc). And sometimes it doesn't even keep the box open to drag into so you have to do it again. Please fix soon.

It is really frustrating to add extra steps of clicking in the file section and then dragging files in when they previously could just be dragged and dropped

We are required to add Service Dockets and Government Waste Tracking Certificates to almost every one of up to 800 Invoices we raise a month and not being to drag and drop (along with all the extra clicks and scrolling required to navigate the Invoice screen) will triple our Invoicing time and up our costs big time.

So ridiculous, cannot fathom why you would take it away in the first place. Click Click Click
Xero will be liable for buying me a new laptop soon because if that box disappears before I've attached the file it's going flying very soon

Please reinstate drag and drop. It is costing extra time (and money) to insert files. is there a good reason to eliminate this feature?
