New Invoicing | Files - Drag & drop anywhere on the page
In old invoicing, you can just drag and drop the file into the window and it uploads. In new invoicing, you have to drop it in the box at the bottom of the page. Fair to say this is tedious!
Hi community, we appreciate you engaging and letting us know the importance of drag and dropping files into your invoices.
Since the release of the attach files feature within new invoicing our teams have being paying close attention to feedback and understand the efficiency you need in this process.
This is something our team are looking to make improvements for and we'll shift the idea to working on it. As this develops I'll keep you updated of news and provide more detail through the idea, here.

So Kelly M does this mean it will sit in 'working on it' for the next 3 years?
Would be great if the same issue in Contacts was fixed too! -

That extra click makes me extremely frustrated!!!!!! Get rid of that extra damned click.

I completely agree with Mark & Chantal. Please can you return the ability to drag & drop into the box (without opening it beforehand).
It's also irritating to select to attach the file when creating the invoice & sent with the invoice and then separately to have to select to send the attachment as part of the email when you sent the invoice. Can you add a setting to allow us to set - as default - that if we attach a file to an invoice, it is sent with the email? Why would we attach a file if we didnt want it to be sent?!

This is such a pain having to expand the files box to add any files. Should be able to drag and drop files on this like you could do previously and as you can do with bills, PO's etc

This still hasn't been fixed. Now the attach file box sometimes closes automatically, between attaching files, meaning i have to keep going back to click on invoice, reopen it and then go back to files to drag another file across. Also please have it so that you can set as a default that all attachments are attached as .pdf to invoice, it is very tedious this process and far removed from the old invoicing process. Why do you change things instead of just improving on the old one, why take things away????

With buyer-created invoices being the bulk of my invoicing this is frustrating to not drag and drop like every other window is able to (bills, spend money etc). And sometimes it doesn't even keep the box open to drag into so you have to do it again. Please fix soon.

It is really frustrating to add extra steps of clicking in the file section and then dragging files in when they previously could just be dragged and dropped

We are required to add Service Dockets and Government Waste Tracking Certificates to almost every one of up to 800 Invoices we raise a month and not being to drag and drop (along with all the extra clicks and scrolling required to navigate the Invoice screen) will triple our Invoicing time and up our costs big time.

So ridiculous, cannot fathom why you would take it away in the first place. Click Click Click
Xero will be liable for buying me a new laptop soon because if that box disappears before I've attached the file it's going flying very soon

Please reinstate drag and drop. It is costing extra time (and money) to insert files. is there a good reason to eliminate this feature?

it is so time consuming to add files now. why would this feature be removed in the first place? its so difficult constantly having to be try be quick in order to add the file. Please bring it back!!!

This "feature" takes so much more time and is inefficient. Please can we have back the drag and drop. It was one of the best things about xero.

Strongly agree - There is now an extra step to click "attach files" and then you need to have precise mouse skills to land the file in the small space allowed before it disappears.

not sure why this was removed for new invoicing bring back drag and drop anywhere on the screen,
has anyone else that the stupid little box closes if your not fast enough to bring the attachment across and then if you happen to drop into the browser displays the PDF, causing you to have to go back and if you didnt save at that point you loose everything and you have to start again. -
Sarah Jacobs commented
Agreed as this will reduce the amount of additional clicks and scrolling the new invoicing requires over classic invoicing. Please reduce the number of clicks and amount of scrolling

When you have tonnes of sales invoices to add, having to click the attach file box first then drag and drop specifically into that box for it to often close before you can drag the file in there is very frustrating and time consuming! Not to mention having to have the customers details in before you can even complete that step. Please change it to be able to drag anywhere at anytime.

Drop PDF directly into the sales invoice (without having to click "files") in the same way for purchase invoices. It is odd to have two different / inconsistent methods for adding supporting documents

I don't like the date field. I use different dates and Xero tries to guess what I might use but I still need to get in and use the calander.

100% agree. The new invoicing is painful to use. Not at all data entry friendly. Keep existing invoicing and just add new features. Please fix the document drag and drop before reverting to new invoicing.

It's extremely annoying that I can't drag & drop anymore (unless reverting to old invoicing). It's adding more clicks and steps for no reason. Please revert back before retiring the old invoicing (or better yet - keep the old invoicing and add new features rather than taking away useful features for the new invoicing).
