Hubdoc - Conjunction with Xero Projects
Ability to publish documents from Hubdoc into Xero Projects directly.
Purpose: To make users’ easily publish the document and assign it to Xero Project.

definately - i dont like projects for this reason and actually thinbking of cancelling the extra payment for this as its too clunky and not streamline

We have approx. 175 projects running at any time and need the ability for costs/bills input via Hubdoc to be allocated to a project for sales invoicing purposes. This includes the ability to assign different lines on the same bill to different projects, not just one invoice to one project.
Without this function we're going to have to abandon using Hubdoc for posting many of our bills. I looked at the possibility of once a bill has been posted via Hubdoc of duplicating it in Xero and then crediting the original entry. Whilst this works in terms of being able to allocate the cost to the project, when duplicating a bill the attachments relating to the bill aren't duplicated and therefore have to be uploaded again manually.
Whichever way around, very time consuming.
THE ABILITY TO ASSIGN COSTS TO PROJECTS FROM HUBDOC IS ESSENTIAL.

I have businesses that I am working with to increase their productivity and withour this it is actually reducing their productivity.
This is an urgent upgrade.

Clients moving away from hubdoc due to not being able to allocate bills to projects when they upload to the app

I have to agree with Graeme here. I am currently looking at other options for most of our systems including XPM. This is just an assumption but I am feeling we are too small an audience in New Zealand to focus on now that Xero is global?

The fact that Xero Expenses / HubDoc are nowhere near as functional as Dext means I've got to use Dext.
HubDoc - I don't want 10x staff to be able to see everything going out of the company accounts. Doesn't allow creation of expense reports per staff member. Can't assign to project directly (STUPID).
Xero Expenses - can't email PDF's into it and can't auto-backup the files to Google Drive as you can with HubDoc and Dext.
Dext - Can't assign to projects because Xero don't want you to use Dext they rather they waste your money on 2x poor products of theirs.
This is infuriating, when on earth will Xero get their act together.
Why create 2x 80% functioning products in HubDoc and Expenses, rather than just getting 1x 100% correct. Total stupidity. Combining HubDoc and Expenses you'd have a basically functioning product, but no.
How hard can it actually be.Absolutely infuriating.

I assumed that this would automatically be included and have recommended Projects to two new clients on this basis. I am now wishing I had put them on Quickbooks instead. This thread has been running for two years and still has not been resolved which does not make me too hopeful of it being available any time soon.

Please have the developers look into this asap. This would make "Beautiful business" even more so.....

Massive time waster. I’ve read on other forums quick books allows this for sometime… you’ll end up losing customers

This would reduce time immensely. Please actions this. Otherwise we have to duplicate going back into Xero

Please please please add the ability to add invoices directly to projects from Hubdoc the same as being able to add them as a billable expense.
The process is currently extremely time consuming.

Andrea Handley commented
Yes please it is such a time waster when you have double handle the items from Hubdoc and is very painful if you are working on a laptop/single screen set up only.
-
Laura Ranger commented
Yes, and I have lost a new Xero user to a different program for this

Highly critical for efficiency and management. Complete waste of time to duplicate the data entry just to assign the expense to a project.. why can you allocate a tracked item but not a project?

Integration is key for Xero to stay relevant. With so many different products on the market and for better utilisation of Hubdoc and Xero projects you need to be able to allocate purchases directly to the project via hubdoc. As mention below, creating draft invoices for approval just to allocate the project number is not efficient considering the existing allocation options from Hubdoc that links to Xero. Hoping this is addressed ASAP.

Having to publish all bills as draft in Hubdoc to then edit them again in Xero seems like a completely unnecessary step and makes me question my decision to upgrade to Xero Projects. I hope there are plans to implement a feature to assign the project in Hubdoc directly!

This would be huge for several of our customers. A side note is that Dext doesn't do this well with Xero but does it great with QBO. This prevents us from putting these clients (all our construction and other project-based clients) on Xero. We must keep them on QBO which kills me. Please action this ASAP!

I have a number of clients who use Xero Projects and having to enter bills via Hubdoc and then edit them within Xero to add the project codes is incredibly frustrating & time consuming.
It seems to be a simple data extraction feed and if it can be done for contact names, account codes etc, I don't understand why it can't be done for project code. -

It is vitally important that Bills are allocated to a project so that when the project is invoiced out no costs are missed. It makes sense that this is done in Hubdoc when the bills are entered into the system. Is this something Hubdoc are looking to implement in the near future?

We are new to Xero and Hubdoc, and are very disappointed that we cannot attach a document to a project. For us, efficiency in accounting is important but managing project costs effectively is critical. Please add this feature as soon as possible!
