Homepage - Independent accounting basis toggle for Account Watchlist

We use cash basis for reporting, but utilize the COA watchlist in the accrual basis.

Having the ability to choose your accounting basis on the Chart of Account watchlist would allow users to take full advantage of the COA watchlist without having to change their reporting basis to one basis to utilize the watchlist and back to the other for reporting.

Thanks for sharing this idea!


I can see how frustrating it is to have to jump back and forth into your Advanced Settings just to get the view you need on your dashboard.


The Account Watchlist is meant to give you a quick "at-a-glance" look at your numbers, and having to change your global reporting basis to make it useful definitely adds extra steps to your day.


I’ve assessed this and moved it to Gaining Support. This will allow our product team to see how many other users are running their operations on a different basis than their compliance reporting.


I’ve also updated your title to: Dashboard - Independent accounting basis toggle for Account Watchlist to make it easier for others to find and vote on.


In the meantime, while the dashboard widget is tied to your global settings, you can save a custom version of the "Account Summary" or "Profit and Loss" report set to Accrual basis. You can then "Favorite" these reports so they appear in your main Reporting menu for quick access without changing your global settings.

    Hello, this issue is still persisting 2 years after this was raised. Can you please look into it. I've made sure the reporting preference is set to Cash basis and we mostly deal with transactions on that basis itself so if the Watchlist is displayed on Accruals basis it renders that feature useless to us.

    I'm a bit concerned wth the fact that no one from the XERO support team has responded to this thread.

    My business reporting is all on cash basis. The account watchlist is on accrual basis. This is very confusing, and make the account watch list a bit useless.

    Allow an option for the Account Watchlist to show figures on a cash basis.

    Clients are finding recent sales are not showing due to the current accrual basis of the watchlist.
