  1. The new beta job creation doesn't do anything the old one didn't do, everything is just either bigger or surrounded by more white space so there's less information on screen at once. It feels great on a touchscreen on an iPad, but I would assume most users are on a desktop where the experience is now just worse.

Thanks for your feedback on our updates to Jobs within the practice experiences beta. Our team are following and considering all feedback we receive through this forum very closely and I'll be sure to let you know if there are any updates.

  2. It would be helpful to add additional filters to the jobs on the dashboard so that you could filter out certain job states and see true workflow for jobs that are due at that point in time.

Appreciate you letting us know how filters on the Jobs widget in the new XPH homepage would be useful.

We're keen to get a better idea of the number of users that'd also find this helpful. Feel free to share the link to this idea with other colleagues that'd find this useful too!

We'll share if there are any updates for you here.

  3. Ability to merge jobs rather than moving timesheets.

Hi Sue, thanks for sharing this! A merge feature for jobs could make managing duplicates much easier and help keep your records accurate and up to date. It would ensure that notes, tasks, and time entries all stay in one place, giving you a clearer view of each job’s progress and profitability.

We’ve moved this along to Gaining Support so the product team can see how useful a merge tool could be.

  4. The list of jobs at a client level and Group level no longer displays the start date. Only due date is showing.
This functionality was available before. I am not sure why it was omitted. Helps team members to review and prioritise jobs for a Group based on the start date when the job was received or has been scheduled to start.

Thank you for sharing your idea and highlighting the changes that are most important to you.

Your idea has been reviewed and is now open for community support. We encourage you to share it with colleagues who may benefit, so they can add their vote.

Community members can also comment to provide additional insight into how this idea could improve their experience with Xero.

  5. Having to navigate to the "Job Manager" tab to view a list of all my jobs is not very practical. It would make far more sense to see all your jobs in the homepage. For the people who do not want this feature, there can be an option to hide this widget.

Hi Cherry, thanks for sharing this idea! It’s clear that not having “My Jobs” on the homepage adds extra clicks and makes it harder to keep on top of daily priorities.

As a workaround in the meantime, the Jobs table on the homepage does have filters — you can filter the jobs by Assigned to me as staff, Assigned to me as manager, or Assigned to me as partner to help focus on the tasks relevant to you. Still, we know a dedicated homepage widget would make this even smoother.

I’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can track interest and see how many in the community would benefit. Your votes and comments help our product team understand the impact, so please keep them coming!

Thanks for your feedback on viewing current and archived jobs together in XPM. We appreciate you sharing how important this unified view is to your workflow.

We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Thanks for sharing back on how you enter time for Jobs, Lisa. We'll start to get a gauge of others interest ion this from your idea here.

We'll keep a close watch and let you know if there are any updates planned for this here.

  10. In Xero, job costs entered under the Cost tab are locked to a job once created.
If a cost is allocated to the wrong job (wrong financial year, wrong client, duplicate job, or job later cancelled), users must currently reverse, delete, or manually re‑import the cost.

    This creates:

    High admin overhead
Reconciliation issues between Xero and XPM
Increased risk of errors and missed costs
Frustration when compared to how easily timesheets can be moved

This issue occurs frequently in practice firms managing annual jobs, recurring subscriptions, and multi‑year work.

Ideally, maybe we can move them to the correct job as…

Thanks for starting this conversation. When a cost is allocated to the wrong job, having to delete and recreate it can be time-consuming and can add extra steps to keep job costs accurate. An option to edit or move a cost between jobs would make this much simpler and reduce rework.

I’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can track interest and share it with our product teams for consideration.

  11. Please add "Search Function" under the client Jobs - same as in the job manager in order to search for specific "current" and "archived" jobs, the sort function is not sufficient.

  13. Can a column be added to see the WIP value in $dollars rather than a percent, this makes it a lot clearer to see time spent on a job.

Hi Amy, thanks for taking the time to share this idea.

It sounds like being able to see the dollar value of Work in Progress (WIP) directly within the Jobs list would give much better visibility over workload and billing readiness. Having unbilled time and costs displayed at a glance, without needing to open each job or run a separate report, would make it easier to quickly spot what’s ready to invoice.

I’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can track interest and help our product teams understand how adding a WIP value column could support a smoother billing workflow and clearer visibility across jobs.

  14. I don't want to bill all tasks by time. I need to add the cost to the task so that they are uniform across all clients. I used to do this in XPM but now Jax says I have to update the staff costs??? I don't want to bill by the hour.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this suggestion! We understand that when time is entered after an invoice has already been sent, not being able to link it back cleanly can create extra work. It’s important that your history accurately reflects the time spent against the right invoice, even if it’s added later.

We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can track interest and share with our product teams how this kind of retrospective linking could help keep job costing tidy.

    Hi Jacqui,

Thanks for this suggestion! I’ve moved your idea into Gaining Support.

Currently, the Projects widget on the dashboard only shows a handful of your most recent or active jobs. If you have a larger list, you have to click away from the dashboard to see them all.

I can see how a scrollable list would be a huge benefit for project managers who want to keep an eye on everything from one screen! I’ve updated the title to "Projects - Suggestion for scrollable or expandable jobs list on the Dashboard widget" to help other members find and vote for it.

Quick Tip for now: Don't forget that you can also use the JAX (Just Ask Xero) assistant on your dashboard. You can ask "Show me the status of [Project Name]" to get a quick update without leaving the page while we wait for more votes on this idea!

  17. Should be able to Apply multiple clients to a job - In the case of a couple, it would be a lot easier to be able to apply one job for both individuals as the meetings and communication if often done together and the returns completed at the same time.

Thanks for your feedback and the detail of why this idea would be helpful for you, Jocelyn. It'll be good to get an idea of the interest from other practice users in this here. I'll share if there are any updates.

  18. Tax obligations, such as VAT returns, can be linked to a job when you create the job. I assume the job details are pulling from the HMRC API for MTDVAT. It shows the period start date and end date and the submission due date. Why doesn't XPM a) allow us to specify a period start date, period end date and submission due date b) automatically fill these fields in c) create future jobs automatically based on the 'obligation periods' retrieved from HMRC d) automatically suggest to 'complete' the job if it knows that the VAT return has been filed -…

Hi Louis, thanks for sharing this suggestion. We can see how having VAT and jobs automatically created from HMRC obligations would reduce manual setup and help with staying on top of deadlines.

At the moment, HMRC obligation dates and statuses are already brought into Xero for VAT and Tax Manager to support filings, but XPM jobs sit separately as a workflow tool for managing internal work and time. Because of this, jobs don’t currently generate automatically from HMRC data.

I’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can track interest and share it with our product teams.

With regards to the Companies House integration suggestion, this will be best raised in our Xero Developers Ideas website instead as it involves external app.

  19. I use the timer, it would be great to be able to access the job from the timer menu rather than opening job manager.

We can see how being able to group or sort the Jobs widget by Partner or Manager would make it easier to understand how work is distributed across the team, without needing to leave the dashboard.

I’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can track interest and share it with our product teams for consideration.
