  1. Hi, I have able to find the ability to rollover the manual journal in drafts. However, once you select to have it rollover, you are unable to see that the journal is set for rollover. Would it be possible to add a text message of 'set to rollover' in the Rollover column so different people on the job are aware of the status of the journals.

    Thanks so much for sharing this idea. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know how improving the default year end date behaviour in Workpapers would help your workflow 😊

    At the moment, you can change the default financial year end month in Workpapers at the practice level, and override it in a client’s workpaper pack when needed.

    We can see the value in making this easier and more intuitive, so we’re moving this idea to Gaining Support so we can better understand interest from the community and keep tracking demand for it.

  3. When posting journals I can't see the cash / accrual options? When posting EOFY adjustments for non-ded entertainment and home office would need the cash basis option so updates in blue xero on the next gst return. Does selecting the tax inclusive from the drop down have this impact?

    Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your Inputs. We can see how the ability to post a GST-only manual journal would be helpful when managing more complex GST adjustments, such as imports or clearing transactions.

    Being able to adjust the GST component directly could make records easier to review. We’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can track interest and share the feedback with our product teams.

  4. Like in the Classic, it would also be helpful if each workpaper shows an activity history. Specifically, a log of who imported the data, who updated it, who marked items as completed, and who approved, all with timestamps. This kind of visibility is important for review, accountability, and audit readiness, especially when multiple team members are working on the same file. Having this built into Workpapers would make the workflow much cleaner and easier to track.

    Thanks for your idea here, Jessie. Good to have this understanding of what's important to our practices when working with new Xero Workpapers.

    Our product team have a close eye on the different requests around this new solution from the forum here. For the time being we'll get a sense of the wider interest and I'll be sure to share if there are any updates planned for history like this.

  5. When a user changes the journal have an audit report available to show what was changed. Quickbooks did this.

  6. I started a Workpaper pack for a Trust.

    Workpapers defaulted the statuses of the following workpapers:
    - Income Tax: NA Not Applicable
    - Franking Credits: Not Started

    This is silly. Income Tax applies to every entity.. Franking Credits only apply to companies.

  7. There should be a way that we can link a field in the workpaper (say it's an excel spreadsheet) as the reconciliation field and it should match the Balance in Xero. The status of the Account should be able to reflect that it is "RECONCILED" in that the workpaper matches the balance in xero.

  8. Enabling subheadings/title for notes on the notes page. This was really helpful in the old workpapers as you could easily navigate to specific areas

  9. Workpapers - Notes

    It would be great if the account name would also be visible when exporting the notes section from Workpapers. The screenshot is from a download done just now.

    The export to text only extracts the comments, not an account code or name.

  10. Allow reviewers to access workpaper attachments for an account and to update the account status directly from the Working Trial Balance view.

    Current Limitation
    Our reviewers prefer working from the Working Trial Balance view. However, under the current functionality, they MUST navigate away from this view and open the Workpapers area to review attachments and mark an account balance as complete. These additional clicks add unnecessary time, and some reviewers find switching between sections disruptive and confusing. For simpler or low‑risk accounts, navigating away solely to mark the balance as reviewed is completely unnecessary.

  11. The system currently does not display who posted the journal in either XWP or Xero (specific user).

    Updates made to journals in Xero are not reflected in the XWP Manual Journal Summary.

    Additionally, XWP only allows journals to be voided—there is no option to delete them.

    Hi April, I've just split this from your original idea here so we can gauge interest in being able to delete a Manual Journal separately.

    Currently it's possible to Delete a Manual Journal while its in Draft, but like you noted can only be Voided once posted.

    We'd like to get a better view of the interest in this from your idea here, and I'll let you know if there are any updates. Thanks!

  12. It would be a perfect scenario that with particular types of workpapers, we could auto post journals in the following year.

    For example - Borrowing Cost - if Xero created a Borrowing Cost workpaper that tracked borrowing costs and kept an amortisation schedule - this would then be rolled over to the following financial year workpaper - but it could go one step further where when it is rolled over and updated for any new loans or refinanced/paid out existing loans, we could have the option to auto post the amortisation journal.

    Same thing with things like Chattel mortgages, especially…

    Hiya team, we have recently released the ability to roll forward journals in new Workpapers.

    You'll find this option in the header of the manual journal tab.

    It's worth noting as you'll see from the note in my image - While you can set a manual journal to roll forward, this will not roll forward debit and credit values as often these will change year to year.

    For the time being, we'll leave this idea open so we can continue to track interest in being able to automatically roll forward manual journals with values. To get more insight of the use case we'd love to hear more detail of situations our customers have where you'd want to roll forward journals with the same values? Thanks!

  13. To improve clarity and usability, please consider reorganizing the layout in the following order: Assets → Liabilities → Equity → Revenue → Expenses.

    In addition, including a Net Profit/(Loss) summary at the bottom—or displaying Current Year Earnings within the Equity section—would provide users with a clearer financial overview.

    Hi team, we wanted to share that we have released some recent changes to the layout for the Working trial balance view Trial balance (grouped) and the additional views Trial balance (ungrouped), Balance Sheet, Profit and Loss.

  14. Suggest Allocating the separate Profit Loss and Balance Sheet Accounts into Folders in Report Code Category order similar to how they are listed in the "Working Trial Balance". That way we can adjust the Report Codes to the move the accounts to their desired Folders in Xero Workpapers.

  15. Add Related Account for Xero Work Papers so you can create or set specific Xero Account Transactions so that you can work with related account work papers. You could then sort, filter, and group transactions by Related Accounts based on date ranges. This would mean Xero Work Papers is the place to easily review and assess the accuracy of the other side of transactions and quickly see issues. It also means you can report on a Bank Account's Debits and Credits, grouped by Related Account Number. And then, on demand, click the related account in Xero and investigate/review it. This…

  17. The buttons on the Note popup dialogue box are silly as.

    Most dialogue boxes have actions on the bottom right. If a negative action (cancel/close), it would be to the left of the main action.

    Add note button is middle left and miles from the bottom right.

    Bottom right is the Close button. Close button is also highlighted blue, rather than white.

    To point out how ridiculous this is.. as I am typing this idea, to the bottom right of the text box are two buttons, Cancel (white) on the left, and Post idea (blue) on the right...

  19. Xero doesn't require a description for every line of a Manual Journal. Workpapers should be the same.

    It also doesn't highlight/tell you which field it thinks is required but is missing. That's so lazy of the developers.

    Thank you for sharing your feedback and highlighting the inconsistency between Workpapers and Xero Blue regarding the requirement for descriptions on manual journal lines. We recognize that in Xero Blue, descriptions are not required for every line of a manual journal, while in Workpapers, this field is currently mandatory. We are moving this idea to “Gaining Support.” as we are actively monitoring interest and feedback from our community to help us prioritize future improvements.

  20. The ability to change the term of the write off schedule in the Borrowing Costs/Amortisation workpaper for situations where clients have loans of a longer or shorter term than the set 60 month period.
