  1. Consider adding workpapers for Inter-Entity Loan, Wages, Div 7A, TPAR, Super Payable, BAS, and GST to provide a more comprehensive set of templates for common compliance and review areas.

    Hi team, apologies we jumped the gun a touch on the idea here.

    Like previously mentioned, right now you can attach documents and links, set flexible workpaper periods, and use basic calculation sheets in the new experience.

    Currently our team are exploring how we might further enhance Workpapers with variations for tailored templates, and support direct importing of reports to improve the way data moves across your compliance steps. We'll share as we have more updates for you around this.

  2. It would be great it we could select a report from Xero Blue and attach it to a workpaper - eg. Aged Receivables Summary Report to Accounts Receivable. Currently you have to export the report and link. It would save time if you could directly link the report (preferably as a static PDF or to the spreadsheet section?

Im happy to say this idea is in development and will be added to the new Xero Workpapers experience in early 2026.   3. Is a GST workpaper being developed or would there be one similar to the GST workpaper in exisiting workpapers? We are onboarding staff to old workpapers so having similar or improved workpapers would be useful.

    Hi team, we appreciate your feedback as you get stuck in to trying our our new Workpapers. Our team have been monitoring feedback closely and I'd like to share that we're in the process of developing a GST Workpaper in our new solution. We'll be back to share once it's released. 😊

  4. Instead of having to go back to the main overview and then select the workpaper, it would be good to be able to have a drop down to select a workpaper as well as the forward and back buttons.

    Hi team, atm we're considering improvements to enable you to navigate between workpapers without needing to go back to the workpaper list.

  5. A function whereby we can either toggle hide/unhide on workpapers that are 'N/A - not applicable' would be very useful. Or at least the ability to amend the workpaper codes so 'N/A - not applicable' workpapers can be custom sorted to the bottom of the pack, out of the way

  6. In the bank reconciliation, it would be great to be able to enter the closing balance per the bank statement, and the workpaper shows any variance.

    It would also be great if the bank name and a partial account number could be pulled through to help identify accounts where a client has many bank accounts.

    Thanks for participating in the forum here and sharing how we could improve new workpapers further for your use, Adam. Our team are paying close attention to the ideas that are coming through here and we;'ll start to get a sense of others that'd find this flow useful here, too.

  7. The Status options (Completed, ready for review etc. ) apply to the whole workpaper, for example Current Liabilities. Is it possible to apply a status to each individual account within that workpaper, ie so that as you are reviewing you can mark each account as completed or rework required as you go, instead of the status applying all accounts within that workpaper.

    1. Div. 7A Loans

    All these features are available in the old/classic work paper.

  9. Within a specific workpaper we have the ability to add a note and select the account code that the note applies to. Can we add the account name in there as well?

  10. Can we have a "Xero Hotlink" next to each account (similar to old Wp's) - The reason why is that the reviewer does not want to spend much time reviewing, this would help speed the process & for Processors we can see what is within the account, not just the "adjustment"

    Hi team, appreciate the interest in links and hotlinks for workpapers. This idea has been split from the original so that we can track interest in hotlinks specifically through this idea and share any updates.

    This is currently a feature that our product team are considering and we will move the idea to In discovery. We will share any further news of this, here.

  11. We would like to have the ability to link a note to multiple accounts, including different account types (eg liability and expense).

    Hey everyone as you can see we have split the original Idea up into seperate ideas including:

    (New Workpapers - Payroll tax feature)

    (New Workpapers - Dividends. 7A Loans feature)

    And I have also added your votes to the following similar established Ideas:

    (Workpapers - Ability to change the terms in the Borrowing Costs/Amortisation)

    (Workpaper | Fringe Benefits - Motor Vehicle private use)

  14. Despite the fact I raised this years ago, it was ignored when building the new Workpapers (ironically, this workpaper is one of the few that mimics the original Workpapers layout).

    The Income Tax workpaper (attached):
    a. correctly shows 4 x current year PAYG Instalments in the 2025 Tax to pay/(refund) section
    b. correctly shows the prior year June PAYG Instalment in the Balance sheet income tax reconciliation section
    c. incorrectly automatically includes the current year June PAYG Instalment (copied from the section above), in the Balance sheet income tax reconciliation section

    99.99% of the time, the prior year June…

  15. After I paste the URL on the Attach URL screen, I want to click Enter.

    My hands are on the keyboard. I don't want to have to move them to the mouse.

    In original Workpapers if I pasted URL, tab Type the title and clicked Enter, it would Add link.

  16. A little UI matter, I know the column widths will scale depending on the window size; however, when I go into the Income Tax workpaper, the spacing seems quite wide even in a smaller split-screen window. It would be nice if the column widths were narrower

  17. The franking credits workpaper is very handy but is almost pointless when preparing the tax return as you need to go back to the source documents to obtain the dates of payment. When ideally prefilling from the Tax Office, having the dates come through or being able to add the dates manually will assist with compiling the tax return.

  18. Manual journals have to be saved as a draft first. Then they need to be edited to be posted. This is an unnecessary step. Or if it is required, it should be role based.

Whilst the 'Updated' yellow tag on the Workpaper and specific account is useful, it would be an improvement to also show the difference between the approved workpaper and the new updated account balance after the balances have been refreshed. It will make it very simple to identify the updates needed for the workpaper.
