  1. When a document is uploaded then removed from a workpaper, it stays in the background when "Attach document" is selected. We need to be able to delete these if it was added by mistake or outdated.

  2. In new workpapers there is no ability to see which "notes" (Client Query, Review Point) has been resolved 😭

  3. The system currently does not display who posted the journal in either XWP or Xero (specific user).

    Updates made to journals in Xero are not reflected in the XWP Manual Journal Summary.

    Additionally, XWP only allows journals to be voided—there is no option to delete them.

  4. The export produces a single PDF. It would be preferable if the export could instead provide a ZIP file containing the individual documents.

  5. Can we have a spot that we look at all workpapers, instead of having to click into each, this is something that reviewers find frustrating & creates a barrier for older partners (less tech inclined) - like the old ones "Analytical Review", if you don't add a link on "Working Trial Balance",

    This is if we cannot have the links in the "Working trial Balance"

    Hi team, thanks for your inputs here. This is an idea that our product team are exploring and considering how they improve the collaboration. For now we'll shift into discovery and I'll share when there is more news around this.

  6. Profit distribution accounts might have an EXP in the report code (and Xero might force us to use Expenses as the account type in Xero).. but they're not expenses.

    Xero has split Revenue, COGS and Expenses across three workpapers.. but still lumped profit distribution accounts in Expenses.

  7. It's bad enough having 3 workpapers for the profit and loss... I can't change where any of the accounts go and now Wages (1 account) is split off into its own 😅

  8. The tax return doesn't allow for decimals.

    When people use decimals on an income tax rec (before/up to taxable income), we end up with rounding issues and incorrect tax expense calculation.

    Taxable income must be a round number, all of the inputs into the tax return to calculate taxable income must also be a round number, therefore it makes most sense to make the workpaper only allow round numbers (up until the point decimals are allowed in the tax return, which is when the tax expense is calculated).

  9. The old Workpapers let you drag and drop documents directly into the relevant line, as opposed to the New Workpapers where you always have to click the attachment icon which opens a pop up box where you can then drag and drop or browse files to upload etc.

    Getting this back would be an awesome quality of life fix that would help with being able to efficiently add in docs.

    It sounds like the extra clicks to open the upload pop-up are adding some friction to your workflow compared to the previous version.


    We definitely want the New Workpapers to feel as efficient as possible for you. Since direct drag-and-drop to a line item isn't currently available without opening the attachment window first, I’ve moved this to ‘Gaining Support’ to gauge interest from other users who’d like to see this streamlined.

    Hi Chris, apologies as returning to your idea here and checking in with our product team I can confirm it is not currently possible to create Workpaper packs for individuals unless they have a Xero subscription.

    This is something our team intend to look into longer term, and I'll be keep you updated of any progress surrounding this here. Thanks

  11. There is no ability to link documents/URLs to lines on the Income Tax workpaper.

    We need that ability so we aren't scrolling down looking for the supporting documents...

  12. More clicks. I don't want more clicks.

    I understand security.. but if someone has already hacked my Xero account, gone to Workpapers, attached a URL to an account - I have bigger security issues than the fact I will be clicking a link within my (supposedly secure) Xero account!!!

    Our URLs are to our SharePoint. I do not want to confirm I want to proceed. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME.

  13. Lol. I just noticed that the checkbox in a Workpaper says Mark Accounts as Completed.

    How unintuitive is that?

    On the All Workpapers screen the checkbox is for selecting (and performing functions). This makes sense, even if it is ridiculous the million steps you need to take to deactivate a workpaper.

    Why would you have the icon exactly the same but have the behaviour completely different?

    Why wouldn't you put a heading above the checkbox to explain what it is for? (If it's for marking the account as completed)

    Why can't we see that the accounts in that workpaper are…

  14. On original Workpapers I would click the Document button next to an account and I'd have the option to upload a file OR paste a URL.

    In new Workpapers, I click the Attach a document or file paperclip next to the account and I am by default, only shown the Attach document option.. I have to Click Attach URL to paste the URL.

    Offer both or offer the choice to choose the default (ours is Attach URL, every time).

    This change adds a click EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. we want to attach a URL (which is all the time).

    Terrible change.

  15. In the create journal window of the new workpapers, it would save a lot of time if you had the ability to set up new accounts there rather than back and forth into the Xero ledger. Also it would be nice if the chart of accounts updated with changes from blue Xero when posting journals in the new workpapers.

  16. It would be a perfect scenario that with particular types of workpapers, we could auto post journals in the following year.

    For example - Borrowing Cost - if Xero created a Borrowing Cost workpaper that tracked borrowing costs and kept an amortisation schedule - this would then be rolled over to the following financial year workpaper - but it could go one step further where when it is rolled over and updated for any new loans or refinanced/paid out existing loans, we could have the option to auto post the amortisation journal.

    Same thing with things like Chattel mortgages, especially…

    Hiya team, we have recently released the ability to roll forward journals in new Workpapers.

    You'll find this option in the header of the manual journal tab.

    It's worth noting as you'll see from the note in my image - While you can set a manual journal to roll forward, this will not roll forward debit and credit values as often these will change year to year.

    For the time being, we'll leave this idea open so we can continue to track interest in being able to automatically roll forward manual journals with values. To get more insight of the use case we'd love to hear more detail of situations our customers have where you'd want to roll forward journals with the same values? Thanks!

  18. I have just found that within the workpaper pack you are unable to click directly through to the client record and need to conduct a search. It would be extremely helpful if the client name in the pack was a hyperlink to the client record.

    Hi April, I've just split this from your original idea here so we can gauge interest in being able to delete a Manual Journal separately.

    Currently it's possible to Delete a Manual Journal while its in Draft, but like you noted can only be Voided once posted.

    We'd like to get a better view of the interest in this from your idea here, and I'll let you know if there are any updates. Thanks!
