Posting journals that need gst return adjustment
When posting journals I can't see the cash / accrual options? When posting EOFY adjustments for non-ded entertainment and home office would need the cash basis option so updates in blue xero on the next gst return. Does selecting the tax inclusive from the drop down have this impact?

Workpapers - Income Tax should never default to NA Not Applicable. Franking Credits should never default to Not Started for Trusts.
I started a Workpaper pack for a Trust.
Workpapers defaulted the statuses of the following workpapers:
- Income Tax: NA Not Applicable
- Franking Credits: Not StartedThis is silly. Income Tax applies to every entity.. Franking Credits only apply to companies.

Workpapers - show workpaper completion on the All Workpapers screen (and why are you using a checkbox for this?)
Lol. I just noticed that the checkbox in a Workpaper says Mark Accounts as Completed.
How unintuitive is that?
On the All Workpapers screen the checkbox is for selecting (and performing functions). This makes sense, even if it is ridiculous the million steps you need to take to deactivate a workpaper.
Why would you have the icon exactly the same but have the behaviour completely different?
Why wouldn't you put a heading above the checkbox to explain what it is for? (If it's for marking the account as completed)
Why can't we see that the accounts in that workpaper are…

Workpapers - Offer both Attach URL and Attach document when clicking Attach document or file next to an account
On original Workpapers I would click the Document button next to an account and I'd have the option to upload a file OR paste a URL.
In new Workpapers, I click the Attach a document or file paperclip next to the account and I am by default, only shown the Attach document option.. I have to Click Attach URL to paste the URL.
Offer both or offer the choice to choose the default (ours is Attach URL, every time).
This change adds a click EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. we want to attach a URL (which is all the time).
Terrible change.

Workpapers - Automatic Journals from rolled over workpapers
It would be a perfect scenario that with particular types of workpapers, we could auto post journals in the following year.
For example - Borrowing Cost - if Xero created a Borrowing Cost workpaper that tracked borrowing costs and kept an amortisation schedule - this would then be rolled over to the following financial year workpaper - but it could go one step further where when it is rolled over and updated for any new loans or refinanced/paid out existing loans, we could have the option to auto post the amortisation journal.
Same thing with things like Chattel mortgages, especially…
3 votesHiya team, we have recently released the ability to roll forward journals in new Workpapers.
You'll find this option in the header of the manual journal tab.
It's worth noting as you'll see from the note in my image - While you can set a manual journal to roll forward, this will not roll forward debit and credit values as often these will change year to year.
For the time being, we'll leave this idea open so we can continue to track interest in being able to automatically roll forward manual journals with values. To get more insight of the use case we'd love to hear more detail of situations our customers have where you'd want to roll forward journals with the same values? Thanks!

Link back to the client
I have just found that within the workpaper pack you are unable to click directly through to the client record and need to conduct a search. It would be extremely helpful if the client name in the pack was a hyperlink to the client record.

Xero Workpapers - Quick Access Dropdown for All Accounts
Consider enabling account-level access via a dropdown menu to improve usability, instead of having users open each individual code category.

Workpapers - Option to split P&L into specific category workpapers
If you're going to separate out the P&L into 5 different workpapers:
Revenue
Cost of Goods Sold
Expenses
Motor Vehicle Expenses
WagesPerhaps it might be better doing it this way:
Trading Statement - this includes trading revenue and cost of goods sold and showing a gross profit
Profit & Loss - this includes everything other then the trading statement and shows a Net Profit - perhaps with the gross profit included as a formula entry from the trading statement. So it might show other revenue that is not included in the trading statement (interest, profit on sale of assets…

Workpapers - Option to delete Manual Journal
The system currently does not display who posted the journal in either XWP or Xero (specific user).
Updates made to journals in Xero are not reflected in the XWP Manual Journal Summary.
Additionally, XWP only allows journals to be voided—there is no option to delete them.
3 votesHi April, I've just split this from your original idea here so we can gauge interest in being able to delete a Manual Journal separately.
Currently it's possible to Delete a Manual Journal while its in Draft, but like you noted can only be Voided once posted.
We'd like to get a better view of the interest in this from your idea here, and I'll let you know if there are any updates. Thanks!

Refresh workpapers
Always keep it visible in all workpaper items (like in the classic workpapers) so that we won't go back to main workpaper to refresh.

Workpapers - fix the buttons on the Note popup dialogue box
The buttons on the Note popup dialogue box are silly as.
Most dialogue boxes have actions on the bottom right. If a negative action (cancel/close), it would be to the left of the main action.
Add note button is middle left and miles from the bottom right.
Bottom right is the Close button. Close button is also highlighted blue, rather than white.
To point out how ridiculous this is.. as I am typing this idea, to the bottom right of the text box are two buttons, Cancel (white) on the left, and Post idea (blue) on the right...

Problems with being a Reviewer using the New Workpapers
Reviewing Workpapers - when reviewing the file I have found two problems - first - when scrolling through the various workpapers using the arrow keys in the top right- it is including ones that are essentially excluded from needing to be completed - i.e. the shaded out ones on the front. 2nd - I have to click into each attachment - rather than using an arrown key to see each seperate attachment like we do at the moment.

Working Trial Balance - Adjust order
To improve clarity and usability, please consider reorganizing the layout in the following order: Assets → Liabilities → Equity → Revenue → Expenses.
In addition, including a Net Profit/(Loss) summary at the bottom—or displaying Current Year Earnings within the Equity section—would provide users with a clearer financial overview.

Workpapers - Manual Journals - don't require a description (Manual Journals in Blue Xero don't)
Xero doesn't require a description for every line of a Manual Journal. Workpapers should be the same.
It also doesn't highlight/tell you which field it thinks is required but is missing. That's so lazy of the developers.
2 votesThank you for sharing your feedback and highlighting the inconsistency between Workpapers and Xero Blue regarding the requirement for descriptions on manual journal lines. We recognize that in Xero Blue, descriptions are not required for every line of a manual journal, while in Workpapers, this field is currently mandatory. We are moving this idea to “Gaining Support.” as we are actively monitoring interest and feedback from our community to help us prioritize future improvements.
We appreciate your input and encourage you to continue sharing your experiences. We’ll provide updates here as we review this idea further.

Workpapers - one click to save and close notes popup window (as Queries used to)
In original Workpapers, if I was adding a Query to an account or workpaper, after typing the Query I could click Save and the Query was saved and the popup window closed.
This is great and made total sense as more often than note, I am adding ONE Query/Note per account.
Now I have to click save and then I have to click close.
I don't want more clicks!!!

Workpapers - Ability to Link A Reconciliation Field in the Workpaper with Balance in Financials
There should be a way that we can link a field in the workpaper (say it's an excel spreadsheet) as the reconciliation field and it should match the Balance in Xero. The status of the Account should be able to reflect that it is "RECONCILED" in that the workpaper matches the balance in xero.

Rollover manual journals - option to rollover
Hi
Thank you for implementing the ability to rollover. I can see the extra column notifying where it is an option. I haven't however, been able to work out how to set a journal to rollover. I'm looking for a tick box or something similar in the journal or once the journal has been posted and I can't seem to find it. Where would the option be located?

Summary of workpapers status within the client view
This isn't a workpapers-specific solution, but the ability to see the status of workpapers in the clients section of the PartnerHub could have great development opportunities. It would be very useful to give a quick snapshot of the client and if it was also available as a column in the global client view you could filtering by work completed/ in progress/ not yet received. Furthermore, giving developers access to the API for this field would also open up other opportunities.
