  1. Whilst the 'Updated' yellow tag on the Workpaper and specific account is useful, it would be an improvement to also show the difference between the approved workpaper and the new updated account balance after the balances have been refreshed. It will make it very simple to identify the updates needed for the workpaper.

  2. The prepayment workpaper should have the facility to calculate the amount to amortise which was there in previous Xero Workpapers.

  3. Manual journals have to be saved as a draft first. Then they need to be edited to be posted. This is an unnecessary step. Or if it is required, it should be role based.

  4. In the old workpapers, you had the ability to generate the income tax journal to post to the Xero file. It would be very useful to have this option again in the new workpapers.

    Hi Bradley and others that have supported this idea. You may have seen we have made a recent update to allow journals to be posted from individual workpapers.

    It'd be great to check in with you here and see if this change meets the needs you have in this idea? We welcome your feedback

  5. Can the spreadsheet have more formatting options - like borders so that you can have a top and bottom border on a total cell? Bold type?

    Also, it needs more functionality like being able to select the range of cells to sum =sum(select cells using mouse) instead of manually typing in the range.

    When you copy and paste from Excel formatting is lost and you cannot add additional lines past where the data pastes if past row 20 (The data itself can paste to additional rows). If data goes to row 19, you cannot insert additional lines past 20 either.

    Hi community, appreciate the desire for more formatting in new Workpapers and this is something our product team would like to explore more but with a few other items in the pipeline atm isn't road mapped just yet.

    We'll continue to gauge the interest in this idea and as soon as there are updates I'll share with you all, here.

  6. Allow each reviewer to approve line items. There are now three people that can be assigned to a workpaper but they all share the same 'status dropdown'.

    We need to be able to see the preparer, reviewer and final review separately.

  7. Automatic ATO BAS data extraction.

    Will Xero be building the GST workpaper by extracting ATO BAS/IAS lodgments into the workpaper. Building the GST reconciliation manually with lodged data is time consuming. The data is there on the Portal, surely it can be dragged into the GST reconciliation workpaper automatically. This would save sooo much time. I know of firms investing heavily into robotics to solve this problem.

  8. Mak the button to notify preparer / reviewer more prominent. The notifications are buried in a menu make them more prominent so the reviewer and preparer can notify each other when tasks have been completed

    Hi everyone, thanks for showing your support in this idea. Paying close attention to the feedback in this forum our product team have picked this up and are now working on improving the visibility of this button in the new solution. I'll be back to share as soon as I have more news 😁

  9. Currently when an individual set of workpapers are marked as Completed, they can be then changed by a Preparer without it alerting the reviewer that the Workpaper is now not reviewed for that change.

    Once a workpaper is marked as completed, if any change occurs after this, it should be changed to In Progress immediately automatically (similar to how it changes from Not Started to In Progress). This would prevent that Workpaper from being changed without the reviewer being alerted.

    I would have deep concerns about knowing all Workpaper integrity has been maintained without this feature or a feature like…

  11. Ability to add Custom workpaper to suit clientele. For example, the review process/ documents required will differ based on the entity type (Company vs Trust vs Sole Trader).

    Also we need to be able to enter the supporting balance that is being verified against. Just comparing to PY doesn't show it's correct. This creates extra clicks to crosscheck to the source docs during the review and could be overlooked where the xero balance changes

  12. When working in the manual journals, you receive a message that the journal is out of balance. It would be great if this message also advised the amount of the out of balance.

  13. Ability to edit the checklist item. Currently we can only delete and re-type a checklist item not edit anything that is existing

  14. Can other quality assurance requirements be included as part of the standard workpapers - for example independence sign off ?
    This will save us having to address this separately or add it in ourselves in workpaper packs etc

    We're grateful for your feedback on the new Workpapers, Stacey. It's really good to get an understanding of improvements that w0oulkd be most useful.

    For now, we'll get a sense of the interest from others using this product here and I'll share if there are any updates.

  15. Aside from the fact that they are now miles apart, separated by a massive and unnecessary white wall of nothing.. the icons are too small (relative to the space available) and inconspicuous.

    Compare a Query on old workpapers to a Note on new workpapers.

    The old flag stands out like a sore thumb (as it should, it's a flag for a reason). Colour/contrast.

    The new note has changed the outline of the icon from black to light blue, coloured in the number blue (like the blue circle next to every account).

    This is not helpful.

  16. Preparers cannot flag status per account — status applies to the whole category. While notes can be added per account, it’s not easy to see which are ready for review and which ones are with queries.

  17. Journals (General Journals, Manual Journals) are inherently an ACCRUALS transaction. Not cash.

    Manual Journals can't be recorded against a bank account in Xero.

    Manual Journals should NOT be Cash Basis by default. They should be Accruals ONLY, by default. Xero should give you the OPTION to include your Manual Journals on cash based reports.

  18. The income tax workpaper has the balance sheet workpaper. Unfortunately, you have to add an 'other adjustment' to record the prior year tax payment. It would be very helpful to have at least one line called 'prior year tax paid'.

  19. When preparing monthly or quarterly workpapers, we would like to be able to select the comparison period as last month, quarter or end of last financial year. Not just the same period last year.
