Online Payments - Automatic Card Type Detection and Dynamic Surcharge Application
Subject: Feature Request – Automatic Card Type Detection and Dynamic Surcharge Application
I am writing to request a feature enhancement for Xero’s integrated payment services that would allow businesses to automatically detect the type of card a customer uses (e.g., domestic, international, credit, debit) and dynamically apply the appropriate surcharge.
Why this feature is important:
Card processing fees vary significantly depending on the card type and origin. Automatically passing the correct surcharge to the customer ensures transparency and helps businesses recover costs fairly.
Manual calculation or flat surcharges can result in either under-recovering costs or overcharging customers, which is not…2 votesHi Liam, thanks for raising this with us here. We have reviewed this idea further and can see that there is a setting within Stripe that allows blocking international card payments. You may refer to this link for more details. However, if you aren't using Stripe, please provide us with more details so we can review that accordingly!

Invoice formatting - Customise invoice to set up pre-addressed envelopes
Ability to customize invoice settings so invoices can be setup to print with pre-addressed envelopes.
2 votesHi Kristin, thanks for sharing your thoughts. We appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts. Did you know that it is possible to customize your invoice templates to show it the way you want? Our advanced invoice templates are called custom DOCX templates. They’re edited outside of Xero using Microsoft Word, then uploaded back into Xero and applied to invoices or other documents. To know more, we recommend that you raise a case with one of our support team so they can assist you further.

Contact - Add due date column on to the contact record
In a Customer profile, please consider adding the column for Due Date between the Issue Date and Paid Date. It would make for a natural progression of the invoice status. Thanks.
1 voteHi Dan, having the due date clearly visible within a contact record makes a big difference when you’re managing collections. That quick, at-a-glance view helps you see exactly what needs chasing and when, without jumping between screens.
This is actually an existing feature in Xero. When you open a specific contact, you can click the Columns icon to customise what’s shown. The Due date column is already available to select.
If you enable Issue date, Due date, and Paid date, they’ll display in that order on the contact record, giving you a clear timeline for each transaction.
I've included an attachment from our Demo company for more information. Hope this helps!

Invoicing - Enter date using keyboard
When it was classic invoicing you could enter any date with keyboard, now if you don't want today's date you have to use your mouse and click on the date you require
1 voteHi Angie, thanks for sharing your feedback! We know how important it is to keep your workflow smooth when you’re processing invoices.
Just to clarify, you can already enter dates directly in Xero without using the date picker. Simply click into the date field or tab to it, type the date in DD/MM/YYYY format, and then click away or tab out to continue. We hope this helps!

More Invoice Placeholders: Next Month
I have many repeating invoices for the next month: End of January I send invoices for the Month of February and it would be good that I can note this on the invoice. Right now I can only put [Year]-[Month] which would be wrong. [Year]-[Next_Month] would be really helpful.
1 voteHi Mike, we completely get it—when you’re billing in advance, you'd want the invoice to clearly show the period it covers without having to edit it each month.
The whole point of repeating invoices is to be “set and forget,” so manual edits can be frustrating.
The good news is you can already achieve this using Placeholder Math. While there isn’t a button specifically called “Next Month,” you can use [Month+1] in your invoice description. Xero will check the invoice date and automatically roll the month forward. For example, if the invoice is generated in January, [Month+1] will display as “February.”

Tradify - Mark as Sent
When sending invoices from Tradify, Xero to mark them as sent.
At present I have to physically go and mark them as "sent"1 voteHi Cristian, thanks for raising this! Wanting to provide further clarification here, while Xero includes a "Mark as Sent" checkbox when emailing invoices directly from our platform, this feature behaves differently through third-party apps. Because Tradify built and manages this specific integration, it would be best to share this feedback with them. They'll be able to confirm if they can update the integration to support that option.

Invoices & Quotes - Show available inventory
When entering a product onto a quote or invoice is it possible to show available inventory next to each product in the pop-up list.
1 voteHi Peter, did you know that when you enter an invoice or quote with a tracked inventory item, once the item is selected when you are on the Qty field of the line you will be able to see the available stock on hand. 😊

ADD AFFIRM PAY
Can we get affirmed added if we are using stripe to process the transaction?
1 voteHi Michael,
Great news—you can actually already offer Affirm to your customers if you’re using Stripe with Xero.
How to enable it: Since Xero uses Stripe's "Dynamic Payment Methods," you don't need to change any settings in Xero. You just need to switch it on in Stripe:
- Log in to your Stripe Dashboard.
- Go to Settings > Payments > Payment Methods.
- Locate Affirm under the "Buy Now, Pay Later" section and click Turn on.
Once active, Stripe will automatically show Affirm as an option on your Xero online invoices for eligible customers and transaction amounts (usually $50 USD or more).
Because this can be managed directly through your Stripe account, I’ve marked this idea as Existing Functionality.
Note: Affirm is currently available for Stripe accounts in the US and Canada. If your business is outside these regions, Affirm may not appear as an option in your Stripe settings yet.

Create another sale invoice after approved or saved previous one
Ability to create another sale invoice after approved or saved previous one. At moment have to go back to sales menu to do this
Would save a lot of time if the option to click - 'create another sales invoice' like it shows credit note, recurring invoice
1 voteHi Claire! Did you know it's already possible to do this in Xero?
To create another Sales invoice, if you simply click on the drop down for "Approve and email", you have the option to "Approve and add another." This will open a blank new invoice for you to create. I have attached a screenshot for your reference.
Alternatively, you can create a new invoice from any screen on Xero by simply clicking the "+" icon on the blue navigation bar on top right and selecting "Invoice".
To ask questions about using Xero in community you can post or join Discussions on Xero Central. Thanks

Invoicing - Schedule one-off invoices
Would be great to be able to schedule a one-off invoice rather than a repeating invoice when only one invoice is needed. As an example we are scheduling works for Friday and I want to be able to send invoice out that day but not before.
1 voteHey Andy, thanks for submitting this idea.
This kind of scheduling is already possible within the Repeating Invoice feature, if you use the same End Date as the Next Invoice Date.
This way it'll generate a one-off invoice at the desired date, without repeating it later.
If you'd like to try this out before taking action in your own org, you can use the demo company to test it. 🙂

Quotes - Add customer Account Number to template
Invoice Settings - need to be able to add account number to Quotes. This feature is available for invoices but not for quotes. We currently have to copy and paste the account number from the clients contact details.
1 voteHi Jamie
You can include the customer's account number in your quotes if you use an advanced template for them (also known as a Custom DOCX branding theme).
Our sample quote template includes the «ContactAccountNumber» merge field that adds this onto the quote for you.
We have a bit if help around this in Xero Central Create an advanced invoice template and: Fields you can insert into an advanced invoice template (it's the same process for quotes), but if you need an extra hand, you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊
