Quotes - Title and Summary to flow through to Sales Invoices
Ability to make quote’s title and summary flow through to Sales Invoices.
Purpose: To save users’ time rather than having them manually input the same title and summary when the quotes are converted into invoices.
Hi community, we want to provide an update and let you know we are reviewing these ideas and have a close eye on the support this idea continues to receive.
We understand that for some businesses, a quote’s title and summary are important details that should carry through to an invoice, and appreciate that automating this would improve consistency and reduce manual re-entry.
Right now, Title and Summary aren’t available fields on Xero invoices - Supporting this would first require those fields to be added to invoices, before they could flow through automatically from quotes. From there, the change also needs to be considered across a number of surfaces, such as web, mobile, imports, exports, emails, and more.
To be transparent, this work isn’t currently on our roadmap.
For now, we recommend manually copying these fields from a quote into the description field on a new line within the invoice.
While Quotes and Invoices have historically evolved separately, we’re taking a more holistic view of how these connected steps work together and where we can improve the experience. Our goal is to make it easier for customers to move from quote to invoice with less friction over time.
We will keep you informed of any progress around this that can help solve the needs shared in this idea. Thanks

There is a title and summary box you can edit when creating a quote, why is that not the same for invoices?
And why isn’t everything thats on a quote not duplicated on the invoice, eg title and summary
Also the defaults terms need to come up when creating quotes, invoices, credit notes and be able to edit them, instead of having 20 different templates so you can easily remove the two or three words you don’t need.My invoices are legal documents and i prefer to put necessary information on them instead of in the email so when the invoice/quote is accepted and paid for its all there on the document
I don’t want two subscriptions for another invoice app because of the absence of a editable title summary box and terms

It has been more than 8 years since Xero themselves posted this idea and they've completely redone the invoicing and quoting system since then, and yet still we can only use the title and summary on quotes?! Please add it to invoices as well. Thanks!

Facing the same problem where it is important for us to have the "summary" field in invoices. Can we please look into this?

Xero Team!
Why post this idea if you are not going to come back to update the people who comment on it, or progress the change?
This is a vital part of the invoicing system that people who don't sell physical products time and time again need.

I also wanted to note that this deficiency is not just with the classic invoicing system. The new invoicing system also lacks a way to add a title and/or description to the top of invoices. Adding a description-only entry to the item table is a hideous kludge which confuses customers and makes us (and frankly) Xero look bad. Please add this important feature.

Yes, this is hugely important. I need to add details such as the date that the order was delivered and who signed the relevant contract and who at the customer's company authorized the purchase. All Xero needs to do is add a custom description field like quotes have which would appear at the top of the invoice. A title could be added as well (quotes have this), but I don't personally need that as much. It should appear above the line item table (just as it does for quotes). Preferably it should carry over from quotes when you convert a quote to invoice.

Having to complete re-write the invoice so it now has context and relevance to the end client, is a huge waste of time, with Xero pushing all their other time saving ideas this seems like a easy one to implement.

Again, I add a title to all my quotes relating to a project address and when converting the quote into an invoice the title should transfer onto it so that all details relate to the accepted quote. This saves the user having to remember to add it into the description line!

Why do we never get anyone from Xero responding to this? It's got 62 votes already and still nothing...

I can't believe that this doesn't exist (like in quotes). I really need to put a Title Heading (eg. Works at Project A, Site D) and a brief Description (eg. Install of equipment X) to the top of an invoice, so that the client knows exactly what the invoice is all about. Please sort this out and add this basic feature.
