Advanced Template - Packing Slip as it's own branding theme
Could you please enable the ability to create a custom “Packing Slip” as part of our custom “Branding Theme”? We’d like to be able to send our fully personalized packing slips without having to change the invoice “Branding Theme" back & forth.
Thank you

Not sure if this has already been posted but what Xero suggested to us is when we make a custom invoice to add a second page that is the packing slip. That has allowed us to add a Certificate of Conformance onto the packing slip which was very helpful.
The instructions weren't 100% clear but essentially download custom invoice template, amend the invoice to suit your needs. Then on the same invoice doc add a second page that is titled packing slip with whatever fields you need and then upload it to the invoice portion of the custom docs. This has worked for us
See below for Xero's guidance:
To customise a packing list, you'll need to create an advanced invoice template using a DOCX file. Here's how:1. Download the combined packing slip and invoice template from Xero (DOCX format).
2. Customise the template to suit your needs. You can add your logo, remove sections, or add custom fields and text. This is where you can add your Certificate of Conformity (COC) information to the template.
3. Save the template to your computer.Once you've customised your template, you'll need to upload it to Xero:
1. In the Sales menu, select Sales settings.
2. Click Invoice settings.
3. Click the arrow next to New Branding Theme, then select Custom .docx.
4. Give your template a name, then click OK.
5. For your new template, click Upload.
6. Click Browse and find the file to upload.
7. Once you've selected all the files, click Upload. To use your custom packing list, create a new invoice and select your custom template under Branding theme. When you save or approve the invoice, you can print the packing slip by clicking the menu icon and selecting Print PDF.
Please note that basic packing slips can't be customised. You'll need to use the advanced template method to add custom information like a COC.

I couldn't agree more with other sentiment towards this. A hacked up invoice and switching templates is a nuisance. This should be ready and set out of the box from xero. The 'packing slip' drop down arrow version is awful.

There is still no way to create a proper branded packing slip or delivery note in Xero. The only workaround is to build a custom DOCX "invoice" template, strip the pricing out of it, and then swap branding themes back and forth every time you raise an invoice. It is clumsy, error prone, and forces a delivery document onto an invoice layout that was never designed for it.
Any business that ships or hands over physical goods needs a packing slip. It is a standard trade document, not a niche edge case. Give it its own template type inside the branding theme, sitting alongside Invoice, Credit Note, Statement, Purchase Order and Quote, with the fields that actually belong on it: line items, quantities, SKU or batch number, and the ship-to address, with no pricing columns forced on us.
This gap has sat here for years while customers paper over it with manual Word docs, bolt-on apps, or theme-switching mid-workflow. Competitors handle this out of the box. Every order that leaves on a hacked invoice template is a reminder that a core document type is missing. Please make Packing Slip a first-class, brandable template. -

I would also like to see that the Packing Slip is a customised item under the branding theme and not part of the combined invoice and packing slip current option.

Adding my vote to this. We need to be able to customise a packing slip that is usable with the deposit template - even just to be able to select the packing slip size would be useful (we print packing slips on a label printer and need something that reads well at 4 x 6".
The invoice customising tool that Xero launched recently was great, we just need something like that for picking slips. -

We keep asking for DOCX support in more modules (PO/Receipts/Remittance), but unless Xero fixes the core rendering engine first, those new templates will still suffer from blurry logos and stripped fonts. The current v12 engine is a bottleneck for the entire platform. We need a modernized document stack that respects modern security and branding standards. I’ve just started using Xero, and the packing slip issue with lack of editing to include custom text box on packing slip only is rubbish.
I can see Xero have not action this for sometime after begging raised. I think will return to Sage TBH -

Please have the packing slip so you can customise. I'd like to edit it so I make it an address label. Or ideally create an option for Address Label!

This is definitely an update that Xero need to implement. The current work around to get this to happen is not very convenient and is time consuming, not practical for business.

Hi, we submitted a feature request over two years ago titled “Advanced Template – Packing Slip as its own branding theme” (submitted July 13, 2022). This functionality is critical for our business operations, and many others have also expressed interest. Could you provide an update on its status or let us know if it’s on the development roadmap? We appreciate your assistance and any timeline you can share.
Thank you -

We should be able to customize our packing slips the same way we can invoices, quotes and other documents. Many business's use packing slips to hide the value of merchandise and services from truckers and others who pick up merchandise. Its an added step of privacy, some people may want custom writing on their packing slip as they do their invoice. This is not a current option and is extremely important
