It would make sense that we should be able to create a project from an accepted quote, automatically populating tasks in projects with those itemized on the quote.

It seems that this has been raised before but there doesn't seem to be forward momentum on getting this fixed.

It would also be helpful if the project could be shown on the Quote page to show that it has been set up. At present we have to open up each quote to see if a link to the project has been created.

The quoting process is more user friendly than the project function, if you could raise the quote from the 'Quote' page with all the details needed and then open a project from that, with all the detail, to begin the project stage, while projects are brilliant it is long winded if need to add a lot of detail, to then quote, then invoice.

If the project process could begin at the quote level, there would only be 1 level to dismiss should the quote be declined. Quotes are always the bottom level.

Xero? 3 years on.. and Zero response. This is basic workflow, surely this can't be that hard nor costly to implement - yet would save a bunch of unproductive time for a ton of users.... not feeling the love.

Xero, are you reading these? There's a ton of work for basic project management that needs to be done here on your part.

Hello @Xero, this is a very much required update,

quotes are almost always made first particularly with businesses that don't have repeat business.

it makes a huge amount of sense for the quote to be made first, for the client to be able to respond to said quote and accept or decline this directly, of which we would get a notification.
then on an acceptance the availability of creating a project from the quote or to add/ update a current project.

its great that i can connect projects with Trello, but it would be great if a third party software wasn't required.

is there any likely hood that this could get rectified at all?

I don't see the point of using the project tab as it works right now. It's indeed backwards and doesn't make sense.

I have only recently turned on the projects function and have dozoens of quotes which are still active and awaiting the clients' decision, I have to retrospectively add all those task lines to a project. Not only that but I have to then calculate how many hours each task is to add up to the number of days that I quoted originally as it does not seem to be possible to add a task and charge per day for a project.

Yes, creating a project before a quote is so backwards!

I'm looking to move my business from Fergus Project management software to Xero Projects but this quote system by Xero seems a bit backwards and would likely increase our workload instead of reducing.
Any likelihood Xero will rectify this? Its been a long time since this issue was raised.

Hi, this would be great for our business and would save us from double entering each line item (5-20 line items per job) from each accepted quote into Xero Projects for every single job we have been awarded!
