New invoicing copy and merge
In old invoicing, when you used Copy and Merge into a new invoice, it kept each of the original invoice's items together in order, including the first line description. In the new Invoicing, it groups together all of the like items from each invoice which is incorrect. This needs to be addressed.
11 votesHi Lisa, it'd be good to get a closer look at some of the invoices you've copied and merged from and to, so we can get a better look at what's going on for you here.
I've just tested creating invoices with Copy and merge from the list view using the same inventory items, however these are created as separate lines on the new draft invoice.
If you can raise a case with our team of specialists through the Contact Xero Support option at the bottom of this page, they can get more detail to investigate and confirm.

New Invoicing - Add Total at Top
Add a total invoice amount at the top of the screen like the old invoicing format. It's a pain to open an invoice and have to scroll all the way to the bottom to find the total amount of the invoice, especially if it's a long invoice. The old invoice format shows the invoice total at the top of screen
10 votesWhile we don't have any direct plans for adding a total back at the top of the invoice, it'd be good to get a sense of the interest if this is important to others in community here, too.
Though I appreciate it's not a solve for the idea. To help speed up getting to the bottom of the page on those lengthier invoices, Julie you may find using the 'end' button on your keyboard helpful 🙂

New invoicing | Contact - add additional people on the fly
Adding a new customer on the fly.
The drop down for adding a new customer at invoice does not have any fields for adding the customer the contact. Why14 votes -
Repeating invoice - Set Frequency for price/amount increase
Repeating Invoices - automatic price increase
We have several client contracts which include 5% price increases per annum. It would be great if you could create a repeating invoice and specify a percentage to increase the amount by on its next repeat

Customer statements - Print in Landscape
Can we have an option to print to pdf statements in landscape as well as portrait?
for example the screen in xero when I look at the statement shows the invoice reference in full but when you download this to PDF the reference gets shortened. This is an issue when the reference is a PO number and then you don't see all the PO number on the PDF version, for some customers they will not accept the PDF statement because of this14 votes -
New invoicing - Set default for 'save'
When invoicing, i usually do in large batches. The save and close function should be second, with save and add another first. Or have the option to edit so it comes first for me?
24 votesHi community, we've recently released shortcuts in new invoicing that cut down the number of mouse clicks and help you perform actions on your invoice with the use of your keyboard.
We've added small prompts to highlight these shortcut combinations in product, and if you’d like to view the full list of options you can view them all on Xero Central.
While save options were explored as part of this work, the only keyboard shortcut right now is Save & close (Alt-Shift-C).
Another option you may want to test for yourself is the '/i' keyboard shortcut. As new invoicing has auto save when you're ready to add another invoice, you could simply type '/i' on your screen. This will open the global search in the blue header with options to go to All invoice, or Create new invoice which you could either click or use Tab to select.

Repeating Invoices - Use updated inventory Unit Prices on repeating invoice templates
When you update the inventory selling price of an item you expect that this is reflected when a repeated invoice is generated. This is not currently the case. The price is ONLY updated when you edit the repeated invoice. Please have an option box on the repeated invoice that allows inventory price updates on generation. Currently waste hours and hours and make mistakes every time an inventory item changes price. Logged support cases about this for years but trying here now. Huge time saver.

New invoicing - Retain formatting and special characters in Contact 'To' field
It's good to see you have extended the period before removing classic invoicing because I still need to revert to classic for certain features that are missing from the new system, namely:
- The ability to copy invoices to Bills and PO's - this is an important feature that I use regularly
- Send invoices via Xero network - again this is a feature that has been useful especially for invoicing between subsidiaries.
- Save and continue feature, I don't like the auto save feature because it continues to update the history and notes while I am still adding details to the invoice…
8 votesAppreciate your feedback here, Helen. We already have existing idea that we've added your vote to for the first 3 points you've shared. You'll receive any updates of progress for these separately. I'll just adjust the title for your idea here to reflect your last point around the formatting of a contact name. We'll let you know if there is any change planned for this, here.

New invoicing - Ability to view as tax exclusive (when entered inclusive)
In the "New version of Invoicing" disappeared an amazing function - when you open an invoice after it has been approved, it always displays as tax exclusive, even if you entered it as tax inclusive. In the new version if you approved an invoice tax inclusive it ONLY shows it as tax inclusive. Can you please add the feature of seeing both versions of the same invoice.
And another feature that disappeared in the new version is to see account number, not just the name of the account. Can you add it back too? And move it back to the…40 votesThanks for raising the idea here, Maria. Will be good to get a sense of the interest in being able to view invoices as exclusive when entered as inclusive. We don't have any immediate plans for changing this but I'll be sure to let you know if there's any change.
We have a separate idea tracking the ability to view the account number that I'd recommend joining for any information or updates around this.

New invoicing - View in files library when uploading and option to return to library
In New Invoicing, I need the ability to view the files in the file library prior to attaching them to an invoice, as I can do in Classic Invoicing. This is because when received into the file library, the files aren't always in the same order as they were scanned. I tried attaching a file using New Invoicing and it wasn't the right file and, because I couldn't return the file to the file library, I had to rescan the document back into the file library. Without the ability to view files prior to attaching them to the invoice, users…

New invoicing - Make the "Approve" button floating at the top of the screen
We have monthly invoices and we have multiple lines, sometimes 100+. With the new invoicing, the approve button is at the top of the screen and I have to scroll to the top every time I got to check the total prior to approving. Can you please make the 'approve' ribbon fixed at the top of the screen when you scroll down?
7 votesThanks for your feedback, Dane. This isn't something we have direct plans around atm and we'll track the interest in having this option as a floating button, here.
You may find using the 'Home' button on your keyboard helps to quickly navigate back to the top of page for now.

Invoice Email - Ability to edit "Review and pay" banner
The "Review and pay" banner misleads recipients into thinking they can make electronic payments, but we're not using e-invoicing and have it turned off. Another major issue is that it causes significant delays in loading or, in some cases, renders the invoice completely inaccessible. The banner in the new invoicing should be named "Review" rather than "Review and pay" or be editable to suit different needs.

Invoice - Recurring invoice reference for a contact
When a new invoice is created, have the reference number auto fill from saved data. Just like you can save what sales account and tax to use for a contact. I have customers that give me a blanket PO for the year and I use it on every invoice I create for them.
5 votesAppreciate the feedback here team. We'll track the interest for this here, however not something we have direct plans of right now.
Perhaps, right now the Contact Account Number could be used for this?

New invoicing - Don't open new tab when clicking the contact
Dont automatically open a new tab when clicking the contact link in the new invoice or give option to turn this off.
There is Alt+click shortcut on all browsers to do this already.
Making this auto open as default leads to too many unnecessary tabs and attributing to a more messy workflow9 votesThanks for your detailed feedback, everyone. We do find that customers have differing expectations of how clicking a link should behave.
With the current behaviour, opening the contact in a separate tab means that users don't lose any information they may have entered in the invoice.
We don't have any plans for changing this in the near term but it'll be good for us to continue to get a sense of the interest around this from our community here. If there are any changes that may impact this we'll share an update with you all here.

Invoice Templates - Automatically update bank account details
Payment information on invoices updates automatically from information held in the payment services section of Xero. Except, using the .DOCX templates, they don't update automatically your business's bank account details.
Scenario - you accept invoice payments direct to your business bank account. Those details are included in the invoice template. You change your bank account details. You have to update each and every invoice template you have to show the new bank account details. However, if you change your Stripe payment information for example, that information is automatically updated in your templates. Why the different treatment?
The different treatment of…

Customer Payments - Payments on Account, instead of Overpayments/Prepayments
You can only allocate payment on accounts to a customer ledger on Xero by clicking 'Overpayment' which is very long winded. Please can this be simplified to select the customer and then allocate straight as a 'payment on account' and then this can be allocated to the invoice once this is uploaded.
In addition, if there is money out that gets contra'd against money received from a client, there is no way of coding this to the customer ledger.

Invoicing - Import with Sent status
Make it possible for imported invoices to be marked as sent when importing them.
Perhaps an additional column in the template Mark as sent status "Y for sent N for not sent"
If this is not possible the ability to bulk "mark as sent"
this would eliminate the issue of individually opening each invoice to manually "mark as sent" to activate the auto invoice reminders7 votes -
Customer Statements - Option to remove links to invoices
Have the option to remove links to invoices on Customer Statements
169 votesHi everyone, thanks for your interests and sharing on the idea here. Being totally open, we don't have plans in the near term for any change that'd solve for the idea here. This may be something we consider down the line and will keep the idea here open to continue monitoring.
For the time being, we wanted to share a way you can remove links from the customer statement using a custom branding theme that you'd apply when sending a statement.
Once the new branding theme is created, you can select it when printing or sending the customer statement, and the invoice link will be removed.
