  1. This column is useful but could be improved.

    As already noted in another existing idea, it would be good if there was a way to indicate whether the discount is per-item or for the line. As it stands, if there is a count, then to emulate a dollar discount on each item, we have to manually calculate the total discount for the line (number * $ discount) to enter the appropriate line value.

    The percentage discount option is good also (as it avoids the above problem with specifying an absolute amount). However, it has a different problem in that the…

  3. Stop repeating invoices being changed to draft when the author/owner/user that added it has been deleted.

    Right now when a repeating invoice template has been created by a user who has since been deleted, the repeating invoice template option will be reverted to 'save as draft'.

  4. Hi all!

    I'm a one man band IT business, and I've just started being put on retainer by a company which is great, however I'm finding accounting for the retainer to be a bit burdensome.

    Currently, my plan is it add the retainer's ammount as a credit note at the beginning of the month, and then somehow nullify any remaining credit at the end. However, I was wondering if it would be possible to add a way of managing retainers separately and more efficiently from credit?

    Or even just having the option to add an expiry date to a credit…

    Great to hear how you're currently using Xero with Credit Notes to manage this process for yourself, Joseph. I've slightly amended your idea for being able to set an expiry for a credit note as it's quite unlikely that we'll look to create a completely new feature for managing retainers. 

    Having a quick look at some of the other ideas raised in community, it looks like some people maybe using SimPro as a means to manage these, alternatively you could explore apps in the ecosystem that may meet your needs. 🙂

  5. When an overpayment is entered while reconciling the bank transaction, the reference we enter while creating overpayment transaction should appear in the reference tab while applying the credit to an invoice.

  6. Search Job name when searching for invoices
    The search function should be consistent across all search. If you can search for job name or part of job name in Search, you should be able to search for job name in Business/Invoices. This brings consistency to the search function.

  7. Hi Xero Support,

    Could we please implement another field to use in Invoice and Quote templates which shows the total before discounts?

    I want to show my customer what they would have had to pay before the discounts were taken off the price.

    This makes a HUGE difference when trying to show customer their savings with applied discounts.

    We need to be able to present Total Before Discount - Total Discount - Price After Discount.

  8. Have come across Xero "feature" of auto filling the account code on a bill, however the code Xero put in had nothing to do with the expense and never has been. The ability to switch this feature off so clients have to actually look for the correct code would be beneficial.

    Hey Lyn, thanks for suggesting this idea!

    Xero will use your defaults accounts for a supplier or the inventory item to assign a pre-selected account code to the bill you've created. You can read a bit more about that here.

    Just to clarify, is this the feature you're referring to? If so, it's possible to disable this by not entering in defaults for the items or contacts in question 😊

  9. I noticed the new invoicing option seems to be not user-friendly as you can't edit the account name there is no option, and the classic is much better. I wonder why that is?

    Hi team, returning to the idea here and rounding back on my last update. Currently it is not possible to edit the Account name or Code of an account from within new invoicing. You'll need to do this by going to the Chart of Accounts screen and updating this, there.

    This is not a feature within classic or new invoicing. However, we'll leave the idea open here so we can get continued interest and consider as a possible future enhancement within new invoicing.

  12. Add payment method to the main screen

    If a Payment Method was on the main Invoice Awaiting Payment screen, maybe next the sent icon this would make things so much easier, you can also see clearly who is on Direct Debit.

  13. When using search in Bills/Invoices Awaiting Payment, it would be beneficial to include an option to allowing to search or filter for "not" or "excluding".

    For example, if I want to exclude a particular customer/supplier from the displayed results, I could search for that contact name and check "not" or "excluding".

    Secondary, but in the same vain, when you do add the ability to search or filter by contact group within bill/invoices, this feature would also be extremely handy to exclude a particular group from the results.

  14. Would like to be able to have adjustable columns on an invoice that I can change what they fill with. Right now an Invoice only has Item as a field. I would like to be able to change from Item to Account. That way I can have one payer and list several clients in the invoice without typing them all in. For instance, if a field was labeled Client Account # or something then I could set up the list with my clients or pull them up from contacts, and just select the clients account number, it would prefill a…

    Hi Laura, hen you say you'd have one payer - would this be a customer or someone internal in your organisation? 

    It still sounds like untracked inventory could work here - for example each 'client' would be set up as an  untracked item, you could select clients using the Item column of the invoice and this would auto populate pre saved data such as the account number which could be referenced in the description column, and monthly service for the account. 

  15. Would like to suggest that Xero adds an option for the user to be able to extract activity statements exclusive of any taxes on the invoices listed on the statements.

    This would assist calculating the costs of projects less the tax implications, especially for tax vendors.

    Hi Zolani, is there any reason you'd like this specifically within the customer statement? 

    Our Receivable Invoice Detail report may be of help to calculating the costs you're after, instead? 

    You can select to include Net, Gross or tax columns in the report so you can see the breakdown when the report is run. If you only need to view for a single contact you'll be able to add a filter where you can select the contact you'd like to run the report for.

  18. I would like a feature added so that we can add a billable expense to an Invoice even though a payment has been made by customer. It is crazy that you have to delete a deposit from a client so that you can then add a billable expense to the invoice for tracking. Customers pay a deposit then goods are ordered for their job.

  19. The ability for Xero to automatically update pricing or changes that were made to items in products and services, when a quote is converted to an invoice.

    Or to at least get a notification that changes were made to the items in the quote when it is converted to an invoice.

  20. Provide functionality in Xero to add attachments to a group invoice.

    Annually when we issue membership
    subscriptions there are a number of attachments that need to be included with the invoice, this is currently a manual process. Adding the sane attachments to over 80 invoices is time consuming and tedious.

    Given Xero has this functionality already, it should be expanded to include the functionality of adding attachments when creating an invoice o a contact group.

    Appreciate your feedback here, everyone. While we've recently released contact group invoicing with new invoicing, the ability to attach and send an attachment has not changed for the time being.

    Contact Group invoicing will only create draft invoices for the contacts within that group, so you'll need to attach any documents to the individual invoices that are created and select to include these with the invoice when sending.

    We'll continue to review this idea as a future enhancement, and I'll let you know if there are any changes planned, here.
