    Hi team, the option to add a % discount to line items of an invoice is available via the Xero Accounting app, on both Android and iOS devices. You'll find this from the menu in the top left (3 dots for Android, and 'Options' on iOS). 😊

    Please can you display the combined chart of accounts account code with the CoA description in the account column as you do on in the classic view, rather than us needing to click on the description that shows in the column, so the account code then also shows.

    Thanks for the screenshots and feedback here. We've made a lot of changes to new invoicing since first announcing the retirement of classic invoicing. You'll find you can now view both the Account code and Account Name in the Account column when editing your invoices. 

  3. It is currently not possible to change the exchange rate used in the new invoicing screen, when invoicing in a foreign currency. You have to switch back to classic invoicing to correct it to the monthly rate we have entered in settings.

    Hi team, we have recently released the ability to set the exchange rate within new invoicing for organisations that use multi-currency.

    Just like classic, as soon as the invoice currency is changed to a currency other than the orgs base currency, the option to 'Set exchange rate' will appear which you can click to edit.

  4. Ability to create an invoice template that saves the line items, e.g description, quantity etc
    Instead of having to manually enter the same description for each new invoice created, just save it as a template. Not just as a branding template.

    Hi everyone, as shared earlier here if you have common inventory and services you trade, you can add these as items to your Products and services

    You can reduce the time spent by using the Item column when invoicing to find and select the items you've saved. 

    If you're looking to add 'description' only lines we're looking into this with new invoicing and you can follow updates for this across on this idea.

  5. There are some new features that I like about the new invoicing, like the ability to immediately a new contact. However this is limited to name and billing address, please add the ability to add email address here too!!!

    Other classic features that need to be included so I can use the new invoicing:
    - the ability to delete the Date and Due Date for a draft invoice. I draft invoices for the entire duration of a project once a contract is signed. The dates are not known at this preliminary stage however it is hugely beneficial to have this…

    Hi everyone, we have now made a change to the Contact card in new invoicing which allows you to enter more contact details from the invoice screen. 

    You'll find you can both add details for a new contact as well as edit an existing contact. The fields available from the Contact card include Contact name, Email, Billing address, the option to add a Delivery address, and phone number 😊

    Cairns, I know there are a couple of other ideas you've mentioned in your initial post here too. While we'll mark this idea as delivered for the primary request you may also like to join these ones below for any updates. 

  6. I really don't want the details of the invoice to be in the body of the email. It looks ridiculous and some of it could be private. Please change it back or tell me how to change it. I really hate it in it's current format.

    Hi Teresa, this is actually possible already. 

    From the Email Settings you can select the Sales invoice template and you'l just want to deselect the 'Include action to online invoice and detail summary' then Save. 

    I do want to note, this does strip back the email formatting so you might like to send yourself a copy to see what this then looks like once the option has been disabled. Thanks

  7. When a sales invoice is created, there should be a place where i can see what is the gross profit. If not, I would have to go back and forth between the inventory module and the sales invoice module to maunally calculate.

  8. The new invoicing will not allow e-invoicing without an ABN attached which defeats the purpose . Bring back the classic invoicing.

  9. When emailing an invoice to a customer there is an option to insert a link to the invoice. However the link is always placed at the end of the message and I have to cut and paste it where I want it in the message.

    Could the link not be inserted where the active cursor is instead? Saving the user the hassle of moving the link.

    Hi community, with the improved send experience in new invoicing you'll find this is now possible. 

    When you add the Online Invoice link through placeholders, you'll see it is automatically inserted wherever the cursor is placed in the email on the left and you can get an instant visual of what this looks like to your customer on the right. 😊

  10. Classic invoicing feature missing from new invoicing format

    Some of our clients like to prepay so there are often credits to use. Upon approving an invoice, the classic used to say there was a credit available on that contact, click here to use it. There is no such feature on the new invoicing to indicate there is a credit available you have to go and manually check.     Hi Claire, when you approve an invoice for a customer that has available credit, you'll receive a prompt. If you choose to 'Skip for now', you should see an option to 'Apply credit' on the approved invoice. I've attached a screenshot of these in new invoicing. 

    If you're not seeing either of these options, I'd suggest double checking the name of the contact the credit note has been created for, and raising a case with our specialists at support to take a deeper look into things with you. 

  11. Please allow a customers unique name and number pasted into the "to" box, be the only customer information required to continue filling out the invoice.
    My continued use of Xero depends on this action to stay as it is.
    Some users will not want to use Xero invoicing other than to use it as a debtors ledger and GST etc manager.
    In our case, we paste the name and number in the TO field, the only " item " we sell is one invoice worth our invoice total. The invoice number and reference holds our real invoice number.

    Hi everyone, to confirm for anyone coming across the idea here. In new invoicing the contact card will open so you can add more details of a new contact. However, the name is the only field required, so you can simply enter the name and then click Save to continue on. 🙂

  12. In the classic invoicing history, we can see the date and timestamp, this is not available in the new invoicing - see attached screenshots.

    We use this time stamp a lot for trouble shooting - like what time or XPM and what time was the invoice approved. This helps if there is an integration problem or double up, or payment query.

    Well that was quick! 😉 It turns out along with an entry when an invoice is sent, our product team also managed to release time stamps 🎉

    In history & notes of new invoicing, next to the date you'll now see a time stamp of when an entry occurred. Thank you all who voted and shared with us on the idea, here. 

  13. For a business needing to invoice based on a percentage share (eg horse racing syndicate), it would be useful to have an additional column to calculate the percentage of the full amount.
    A fix I have used is to apply a discount of 100- the share percentage but it would be more professional to have a percentage column.

    Hi Anne, as previously shared there is a discount column within new invoicing. If not shown automatically - click the show/hide columns button to check and select Discount.

    You can enter discounts as either an amount of percentage. If you'd like to enter a percentage discount simply add the % character in the field 🙂

    Hi everyone, returning to the idea here as mentioned in my last update you can use the Inventory Item Details report grouped or filtered by Item Name useful for this information. 

    If it's something you'd like to refer to often, star and favourite the report to make it available from the menu drop down list. 😊

    Hi everyone, we've released a new experience when sending with new invoicing in Xero. You'll find with the side-by-side view along with being able to cc and Bcc others in the email you have the ability to also insert emojis into the email. 🎉

    The preview on the right will show you how these ill appear when sent to the customer. 😁

  16. With the old invoice format—when you edit the invoice issue date, the due date doesn't change. When you edit the issue date with the NEW invoice format, the due date automatically changes. Not sure about others, but I don't want it to do that. I'll often issue an invoice in the first couple of days of the month but then immediately backdate it to the end of the previous month. I don't want the customer's due date to change. I change the due date back, manually, but again—it's more clicks.

    Thanks for the feedback on the behaviour of the dues date, community. Our product team have implemented a change to this as of today, so now if you update the issue date after you've set a specific due date, it will not automatically update the due date when you make issue date changes.

    We appreciate our customers have different expectations of the behaviour between issue and due dates in new invoicing - Along with other changes we're developing for the due date picker, we'll soon release the option to 'Reset to default due date' which will let you intentionally update the due date based on your invoice's contact's default due date (if set) or your organisations default due date, just by clicking this option.

  17. When you invoice a new customer you get the option of "Add address" which is great to quick add their email address and postal address. Can this also include adding the phone number? Currently the only way to add the phone number is to go into contacts and add it that way but to me it is a much more important detail than postal address. If I need to chase up anything to do with the invoice i don't send the customer a letter, i call them so i do need to input their phone number and just want a…

    Hi team, this is now possible. Within new invoicing you'll find we've enhanced the contact card that allows you to add or edit contact details on the fly. From this card you can now add or edit the Contact name, Email, Billing and Delivery address, and Phone number. 🙂

  18. It would be useful to have a cc and bcc field when sending invoices so that either the business owner or another individual could receive a copy of the invoice when it is sent. This functionality is available in QuickBooks.

    Hi team, with the release of our new send experience you now get full visibility of what's being sent to your customers when sending from new invoicing with a side-by-side view. Along with this, the team have developed the ability to add CC and BCC so you can easily include others.😁

  19. Invoice - Be able to have Xero automatically create a credit note if an invoice is negative. Show the invoice as paid in full and generate a credit note for the remainder. The credit can then be applied normally to other invoices on the customer account.

    Hi Darren, returning to your idea here we have released a change within new invoicing that'll suggest and enable you to create an Overpayment for any amount that exceeds the total of the invoice. Saving you the time of having to create this transaction separately. See more in my update on this idea. 🙂

  20. You can now create a contact from an invoice. Great, this was overdue.
    Why stop at only allowing some of the details though? Weird.
    Now I have to go back into the contact and edit it to add Company name etc.
    It's just creating more work when I could have done everything from the one spot.
    Please fix!

    Sorry for not updating you here sooner, team. We've been making a lot of changes within new invoicing. One of these being enabling you to enter more contact details from the new invoicing screen, without having to navigate away.

    You'll find you can now enter the contact name, email, billing address, delivery address, and phone all from the contact card within a new invoice. These details will be reflected without the need to refresh the screen 🙂
