New invoicing - Exclude customer information
Please allow a customers unique name and number pasted into the "to" box, be the only customer information required to continue filling out the invoice.
My continued use of Xero depends on this action to stay as it is.
Some users will not want to use Xero invoicing other than to use it as a debtors ledger and GST etc manager.
In our case, we paste the name and number in the TO field, the only " item " we sell is one invoice worth our invoice total. The invoice number and reference holds our real invoice number.
It is…1 voteHi everyone, to confirm for anyone coming across the idea here. In new invoicing the contact card will open so you can add more details of a new contact. However, the name is the only field required, so you can simply enter the name and then click Save to continue on. 🙂

For a business needing to invoice based on a percentage share, it would be useful to have an additional column that calculates thepercentage
For a business needing to invoice based on a percentage share (eg horse racing syndicate), it would be useful to have an additional column to calculate the percentage of the full amount.
A fix I have used is to apply a discount of 100- the share percentage but it would be more professional to have a percentage column.1 voteHi Anne, as previously shared there is a discount column within new invoicing. If not shown automatically - click the show/hide columns button to check and select Discount.
You can enter discounts as either an amount of percentage. If you'd like to enter a percentage discount simply add the % character in the field 🙂

Inventory - View history of sales
previous invoice pricing to a customer, I want to see who i sold it too so i can do the same pricing, Instead of the history of products and invoice just say Invoice and Bill
1 voteHi everyone, returning to the idea here as mentioned in my last update you can use the Inventory Item Details report grouped or filtered by Item Name useful for this information.
If it's something you'd like to refer to often, star and favourite the report to make it available from the menu drop down list. 😊

Ability to add emojis to email communication templates and customised docx templates.

The preview on the right will show you how these ill appear when sent to the customer. 😁

New invoicing - Ability to add Account Code within the invoice
It would be helpful and efficient to be able to make or add an account code straight from the "account code" dropdown in the bill/invoice/journal without needing to go to chart of accounts to make a new one. Currently, users still need to go to the chart and then go back to the bill/invoice/journal but since this refreshes the page, it erases all the data already filled up in the invoice.
22 votesHi community, rounding back here to confirm that creation of a new account from within an invoice is now available!
Hearing the feedback here our team released an update so now when you choose +Create new account a modal will pop up within the invoice to avoid having to navigate away from the invoice and refresh.
Thanks again for sharing and supporting in ideas here.

New invoicing - Don't update Due Date when changing the Invoice Date
With the old invoice format—when you edit the invoice issue date, the due date doesn't change. When you edit the issue date with the NEW invoice format, the due date automatically changes. Not sure about others, but I don't want it to do that. I'll often issue an invoice in the first couple of days of the month but then immediately backdate it to the end of the previous month. I don't want the customer's due date to change. I change the due date back, manually, but again—it's more clicks.
Changing the issue date (and undoing the change to the…
2 votesThanks for the feedback on the behaviour of the dues date, community. Our product team have implemented a change to this as of today, so now if you update the issue date after you've set a specific due date, it will not automatically update the due date when you make issue date changes.
We appreciate our customers have different expectations of the behaviour between issue and due dates in new invoicing - Along with other changes we're developing for the due date picker, we'll soon release the option to 'Reset to default due date' which will let you intentionally update the due date based on your invoice's contact's default due date (if set) or your organisations default due date, just by clicking this option.

Invoice - Ability to add BCC field when sending invoices
It would be useful to have a cc and bcc field when sending invoices so that either the business owner or another individual could receive a copy of the invoice when it is sent. This functionality is available in QuickBooks.
78 votesHi team, with the release of our new send experience you now get full visibility of what's being sent to your customers when sending from new invoicing with a side-by-side view. Along with this, the team have developed the ability to add CC and BCC so you can easily include others.😁
Thank you all for sharing how we can make Xero better when running your business.

Invoice Templates - Make a separated option for Quantity and Unit Price
Please could you allow the ability in Invoice settings for invoice templates, to show only the quantity and not the unit price. Separating these would allow to show how much of a material is used.
2 votesHi Aaron, rounding back to your idea here we wanted to share an update as this is something we've been able to incorporate within our new Standard branding with the Invoice template editor.
From the content section you can control which columns of your invoice are shown. There fore you can choose whether both Quantity and Price are shown, or just one or the other 🙂
Thanks again for sharing in Xero Product Ideas.

Sales Invoices - Allow to have column for backorders
To have a column of back orders/negative items within the Sales Invoices.
Purpose: Users can easily enter back ordered items rather than doing extra steps of adding 1 more item in their inventory.
117 votesHi everyone, thanks for your continued support and for explaining how a backorder column would help you identify items being sold before stock arrives.
Backorders are now fully rolled out to all customers - this capability means you can sell and approve invoices when there isn’t enough stock on hand.
Xero allocates available stock immediately and automatically assigns incoming stock to outstanding backorders, and addresses the core need behind this idea of being able to invoice and track items awaiting stock.
We appreciate all your feedback in helping us develop Xero to better suit your needs. 🙏🏻

Invoice - Auto create a credit note for negative amounts
Invoice - Be able to have Xero automatically create a credit note if an invoice is negative. Show the invoice as paid in full and generate a credit note for the remainder. The credit can then be applied normally to other invoices on the customer account.
9 votesHi Darren, returning to your idea here we have released a change within new invoicing that'll suggest and enable you to create an Overpayment for any amount that exceeds the total of the invoice. Saving you the time of having to create this transaction separately. See more in my update on this idea. 🙂

Sales Invoice - Ability to enter all contact details from an invoice
You can now create a contact from an invoice. Great, this was overdue.
Why stop at only allowing some of the details though? Weird.
Now I have to go back into the contact and edit it to add Company name etc.
It's just creating more work when I could have done everything from the one spot.
Please fix!6 votesSorry for not updating you here sooner, team. We've been making a lot of changes within new invoicing. One of these being enabling you to enter more contact details from the new invoicing screen, without having to navigate away.
You'll find you can now enter the contact name, email, billing address, delivery address, and phone all from the contact card within a new invoice. These details will be reflected without the need to refresh the screen 🙂

Invoices - Payment terms to default to customers existing payment terms when the issue date is changed
When you create an invoice the payment terms default to what is set for each customer (ie. 45 days from end of month, 60 days etc) however if you then change the issue date of the invoice, it defaults back to 30 days for every client regardless of their terms. We are looking for it to caclulate to each clients correct terms whenever the invoice date is changed
3 votesHi team, with some recent changes we made to the date picker in new invoicing you should find this is now working correctly for you. When creating a new invoice the default due date is triggered by the invoice settings, or where set for an individual contact this'll be the date used, also as noted in my update here - now if you update the issue date after a due dates entered, it does not automatically update the due date when you make issue date changes.
If you're still finding any discrepancies in what you're expecting I'd recommend raising a case with our specialists at Xero Support so we can get more detail and confirm the behaviour you're getting.

Bills and Invoices - Shortcuts to move up or down page
The only way of moving (using the keyboard) within an invoice or a bill table at the current moment is by using the enter or tab key. These two keys allow you to move horizontally.
Many times I found myself wanting to move vertically instead! Could we have one key that will do just that?
A similar feature is already present in 'cash coding' and makes the experience of reconciling way smoother. What about invoicing and bills?
10 votesHi team, this is now available to you all!
From a field within the table, you can click the blue dot in the bottom-right corner of a cell and drag up or down the column. Alternatively, hold Shift on a cell and use the up or down arrows to select cells, then press Enter to apply.
This is available across invoices, quotes, purchase orders, sales credit notes, and when editing bills in quick view.
We appreciate all your feedback on this and sharing in Xero Product Ideas. 🙏🏻

Invoice Templates - Drag and drop invoice designer
How come the process of designing invoices is so painful? It would be great to have a built-in drag and drop invoice designer. I realise it won't be easy but it's mad that our only option is to design them in Word. There are so many sites that allow similar functionality, albeit for non-finance related areas like marketing.
33 votesHi team, I'd like to share that the new Invoice Template editor is now available in all regions.
While not a full interactive drag & drop feature, you'll find this new experience is a huge step up from the previous standard branding experience as mentioned in my last update. It has a more interactive design where you can see changes as they are made so changes are made much easier.
We appreciate all the feedback you've shared through this idea and if there are additional enhancements you feel could give you better use of the new editor start a new idea so we can gauge and keep you updated.

Sales invoice - Show the total net separated by vat rates
Creating a summary at the bottom of a sales invoice showing the total net brokendown by vat rates to give the customer a clear view of what they are purchasing
1 voteHi Alex, you'll find this is now possible. The different VAT rates used in the invoice will be shown as subtotals beneath the total invoice amount. With the updates that our team have made to the send experience your customers will also be able to see a quick view breakdown of this in the email they receive 🙂

Invoices: Set due date as from receipt of invoice instead of from creation
Ability to select a date that says payment is due upon receipt of this invoice. This is "due date" is used just as much as net terms of 30 days.
5 votesHi community, returning to the idea right now you could enter a Due Date that's the same as the Invoice Date (or set it to whatever the date is when the invoice is being approved and emailed).
Additionally if you'd like to specify the text that appears (such as 'This invoice is due upon receipt') you could either:
- Add this into the ' Terms & Payment Advice (Invoice and Statement)' on a Standard invoice template, or
- Add this text into the Footer of the invoice template on a Advanced branding theme

Sales invoice - Auto fill sales person
Option to Auto Fill Account, Tax Rate, Sales person for all rows. It gets quite time consuming to manually add for each line (even if it is a button at the top of the fields allowing auto fill of all, that would greatly help)
1 voteHi, Neilson, as noted in my last update, it sounds like Tracking is the most appropriate feature for auto filling your sales person in an invoice. You can add defaults for contacts that'll automatically populate the tracking column as you enter lines within an invoice for that contact.

Xero Accounting app - Set default behaviour for 'Send me a copy'
When sending an invoice from a mobile device, remove the “send me a copy” button, or at least let us make a one time adjustment to stop having to turn it off every single time.
1 voteAppreciate letting us know how we could improve your flow when working from the Xero Accounting app, Joshua. Our team have just released a change for iOS to align with the Android behaviour.
Now, when you send an invoice or a quote, the 'Send me a copy' field will be unchecked by default.🙂

E-Invoicing - PEPPOL Compliance
Ability to send invoices through PEPPOL network.
Purpose: To comply with the European standard of e-invoicing and e-ordering. Especially for those who deal with the public sector.
69 votesHi team, we apologise for the delay in updating this idea - In December 2025 Xero began supporting Peppol eInvoicing for some EU countries including Belgium, Ireland, Malta, Austria, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czechia, Estonia, Germany, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Portugal, Slovakia, and Slovenia.
Eligible organisations in these regions can now register for, send, and receive compliant Peppol e‑invoices and credit notes with Xero.
Along with the countries above, Xero supports eInvoicing in Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Malaysia and Singapore.
Looking forward, we’d like to get a good gauge of our users interest in supporting eInvoicing in other regions. It's best for us to track this for each region customers are interested in. We have existing ideas related to support for France and Spain that we’d like to point you to vote on, or please do create a new one for your region so we can begin to get a sense of…

Email Settings - Specify date/time to send transactions
Ability to specify date/time when users’ want to send emails from Xero.
Purpose: So clients/customers can receive the email during the working hours and not at random time.
762 votesThanks so much for your enthusiasm here, everyone. We know many of you have been eagerly awaiting this release.
The ability to schedule the day and time a one-off invoice is sent is now live for all users. 🥳
Currently, this feature is only available when sending individual invoices.
We absolutely understand the interest in extending this type of functionality to other features like; repeating invoices, invoice reminders, statements and payslips. This will be a consideration for our teams as they continue to develop across features and we have some ideas I've linked below that I'd recommend joining so we can better gauge demand and ensure you hear updates for each.
