  1. Last week, against my wishes (and against Xero Support's own knowledge), Xero System Generated a second Stripe bank account in Xero.

I already had a Stripe bank account in Xero that was working fine, it had a bank feed for payments processed via Stripe from other software, and it would have the bank feed and create the payment and fee Xero transactions for payments processed via Stripe on Xero invoices.

I don't want two separate Stripe bank accounts in Xero for my one Stripe AUD account.

Why does Xero do unhelpful things like this?

  2. Allow Xero to connect to a Stripe Test account, so we can create a temporary Xero account and test the Stripe integration, knowing completely what it will do with other integrations, how to train staff and manage edge cases of transactions.

  3. When writing Cheques or payments would it be possible for an auto infill/ recall of the previous payment made to the Payee/Supplier, this would save time if the details are always the same and only the amount may vary, it would ensure that the correct/same account is always used giving consistency.
Should any of the details differ then these can be input as currently but an auto infill would save me an awful lot of time as I don't have a bank feed to all the bank accounts I oversee.

Appreciate it's been some time since you originally started this idea, John - Just to confirm what you're asking here. Would this be when adding a manually applied payment to a bill? Or when reconciling in the bank account?

  5. It would streamline workflow if there was a feature that allowed us to store a client's credit card on file and when a single invoice is sent out to the client, the business can charge the card on file.

In previous invoicing systems, I was able to "store" a client's credit card on file and then invoice and charge the credit card on file. This is an important feature for my business as it removes the burden off my clients for paying the invoice and reduces the amount of follow up on my end for collecting payment.

  6. Is there any plan to add an option for collecting payments through Stripe directly within Xero? Often, when I call customers for payment, I am in Xero looking at the invoice, and the customer wants to provide a credit card for payment. Currently, I have to log in to Stripe to process the payment. It would be much easier and more efficient if I could charge the client directly from the invoice itself, don’t you think?

  7. We need a way for Xero to know that there was a chargeback on an invoice through GoCardless so that the payment applied against the Xero invoice is removed.

There have been instances where a customer's bank did not accept the charge made against the bank account and GoCardless charged us back for the invoice. We didn't collect the payment, but Xero still has the invoice marked as paid. When reconciling AR this month, there was a few invoices that were charged back but were still showing paid.

  9. Now that Stripe offers Afterpay, it would be helpful to add Afterpay to Xero's native Stripe integration.

Hi team, we're developing more ways to pay with Stripe!

Soon you'll have the option to offer Afterpay as a payment method to your customers which we know is important to all of you who've voted on this idea.

I'll round back to confirm when it's live and more detail of how to do this. 🙂

  10. Ability to have partial payments through Stripe.

Purpose: Users can easily set up partial payment in one invoice rather than having to create separate invoices.

Hi team, I’m back again as the ability to accept deposits with Stripe has been released to the majority of regions (UK, US, NZ, AU SG, and CA) with sights set to get this to 100% asap.

Additionally to the feature we first rolled out, we've now added a due date field that allows you to set a specific date you expect payment of the deposit to be received and will be visible when sent to your customer.

Thanks again for your involvement in the idea here and helping us evolve Xero to better suit the needs of our customers.

  11. Allow us to select 'reoccurring payment' in a repeating invoice for Gocardless in Xero.

When Xero generates a repeating invoice that is setup for auto collection from Gocardless, it is classed as a new payment each time and sends the Gocardless customer an email everytime.

In Gocardless when subscriptions were done through its own systems, they were classed as reoccurring payments and therefore as per BACS rules, the customer does not need to be informed everytime payment is taken.

We have over 400 monthly payments and growing, we can't keep emailing customers everytime we take their approved monthly payment, it…

  12. It is far more common place and practical to set a give day of the week to send payment batches. I would assume that most businesses are not firing off payments every day of the week for every individual invoice (ie based on x number of days after invoice/bill date).

That being said, I also believe it is far less common to be offering or to be offered payment terms of old (ie x days after EOM).

It is and has been common place in our industry for more than 20 years, that suppliers provide payments terms of x days…

  14. Sometimes clients pays an invoice but then if a refund is issued from that invoice to the same client, in Xero there is no option to add a refund on an invoice, you can only add a payment.
You can only add a refund on a CN but no always there is a CN available.
When a company has multiple clients and there is a large movement of funds, refunds and payments it is very difficult to keep track of these and a suspense account has to be used and therefore be reconciled at the end of the year. Is…

Hi Sara, along with Credit Notes, there is also facilities for Overpayment and Prepayments. Would these commonly fit the scenarios in which you're describing here where large amounts of funds are transferred and perhaps a business overpays their invoices to the business through which a refund is then issued?

Bein quite a tied in feature to the payments model I want to be open that we don't have any immediate plans for changing this or adding a new type of transactions that would directly add refunds to an invoice.

  15. The PayPal data feed imports dates from UTC, as is.

For example in Australia there is a fairly large window each day where transactions will be imported and appear to have occurred the day prior. For other timezones it's likely the opposite.

In my eyes this is an outright bug/lazy coding. The response I received from support tells me they are aware of the problem, but it's just a known quirk! They suggested adding a manual adjustment to fix the balance when required. Ugh, I would feel dirty doing that, lol.

Essentially the only place the PayPal feed is always…

  16. I have used both the old & new GoCardless/Xero integrations. I thought the old one was great from an automation perspective if you were able to automate contact creation and this would automatically match the direct debit with the contact.

Unfortunately, the new integration is quite restricted and an auto-match will only be done if the DD mandate is created directly from an invoice in Xero. This makes things very difficult from a scalability perspective and makes the new GoCardless/Xero integration unworkable. I've worked some businesses who have 30+ new customers a week and, once the migration from the old…

  18. It would be really good to have a tick box on the Invoice creation page similar to "GoCardless: Collect ASAP" which would cause the payment to be collected ASAP as opposed to on the Due Date of the invoice.

For customers who already have a mandate set up via GoCardless, using "+0 days" for Repeating Invoices or "Today" for standard invoices as the Due Date resolves the problem in a way - the money is collected ASAP.

But for customers who do not have a mandate set up, things get even more complicated.
We generally set the Due Date of…

  19. There should be an option to add the Tracking categories in the automatic fees from the Payment services such as Paypal, Stripe, etc. This is a small update but can save a lot of time in EOM processes so we do not need to do Find and Recode at the month-end for these transactions.
