Invoice Payment- Stripe Partial payments
Ability to have partial payments through Stripe.
Purpose: Users can easily set up partial payment in one invoice rather than having to create separate invoices.
239 votesHi team, I’m back again as the ability to accept deposits with Stripe has been released to the majority of regions (UK, US, NZ, AU SG, and CA) with sights set to get this to 100% asap.
Additionally to the feature we first rolled out, we've now added a due date field that allows you to set a specific date you expect payment of the deposit to be received and will be visible when sent to your customer.
Thanks again for your involvement in the idea here and helping us evolve Xero to better suit the needs of our customers.

Xero with Stripe: Support for Afterpay payments
Now that Stripe offers Afterpay, it would be helpful to add Afterpay to Xero's native Stripe integration.
60 votesHi team, we're developing more ways to pay with Stripe!
Soon you'll have the option to offer Afterpay as a payment method to your customers which we know is important to all of you who've voted on this idea.
I'll round back to confirm when it's live and more detail of how to do this. 🙂

Stripe - Add multiple stripe connections
We have multiple stripe accounts that we need to connect. It would be great to be able to add more than one strip payment processor that connects to two separate stripe IDs.

E-invoice - New e-invoice notification
e-invoicing notification
It would be great if we could get some kind of notification when an e-invoice was received into draft. Without going into our process, not knowing when a e-invoice was received will cause delays in processing as well as paying it.

Payment services - Auto Calculate Credit Card Fee or online payment fee and show on Invoice
To make the credit card fee or online payment fee visible in the invoice.
Purpose: Vendor/customer will be able to see how much exactly they’re being charged.
40 votesThanks everyone, we understand the interest for being able to pass on credit card and payment service fees to your customers.
Atm, as some of you have noted - if you're using or set up Stripe as a payment service for your organisation you'll have the ability to pass processing fees onto your customers. This'll be included in the Invoice total when the customer clicks on the Pay now button in your invoice - you can read up on and follow steps on this here.
- You can also use an advanced invoice template to show this on the invoice to your customer.
Outside this service, while not automated there are ways to represent and pass on fees to your customers;
- Add detail to your invoice payment terms so this is clear to your customer
- If there is a default fee that'd be charged you might like to set this up…

e-invoicing Germany
From 1st January 2025 businesses in Germany must be able to receive e-invoices and this function does not exist in the Global edition we use for our German clients.
We need this functionality setting up as a matter of urgency.
39 votesThanks for raising the idea with us. Our team are aware of the mandate of eInvoicing for Germany. While we don't have immediate work planned at this stage our plan is to support any Peppol-enabled region in the long term and we are paying close attention to the interest from users on this idea. We'll be sure to update of any progress surrounding this for you, here.
The mandate currently states "The new legal regulation currently contains no specifications for the electronic transmission of electronic invoices. An email inbox should therefore initially be sufficient to receive an electronic invoice."
Based on this, currently with Xero an eInvoice could be received by using our Email to bills service, or by including the invoice as an attachment and sending to your organisation's Files library. On agreement with your suppliers you could share your bills, or files library email with them so…

Stripe - Pass full fee amount to customer
For volume based businesses, we lose money (30c per transaction) on the stripe fee we pay vs what we can pass onto the customer (because there's no option currently to just pass on the full fee, just a %). That % can't legally be higher than what we are charged, and we can't add the 30c fee to the % anywhere in settings. When we're processing 1,000 transactions per month, we lose $300 to fees. For a small business, this isn't justifiable. Most small businesses that have high volumes are low cost, so they rely on volume of sales to…
39 votesHi team, we appreciate the interest and feedback around surcharging. While this is something our product teams reviewed we want to be open that this isn't something we have plans for developing at this time.
For now, surcharging will continue to be a % fee with no flat rate fee option.
We're continuing to watch the support for this here and will share if there are any updates.

Customer Statement - Total payments
Customer statements - will Xero enable the functionality to present payments received by customers as 1 line item? We want to see the total payment amount on the statement - not allocated to each invoice as it is currently.

Invoice - Ability to charge a credit card on file
It would streamline workflow if there was a feature that allowed us to store a client's credit card on file and when a single invoice is sent out to the client, the business can charge the card on file.
In previous invoicing systems, I was able to "store" a client's credit card on file and then invoice and charge the credit card on file. This is an important feature for my business as it removes the burden off my clients for paying the invoice and reduces the amount of follow up on my end for collecting payment.

Gocardless - Subscription template integration for reoccurring payments
Allow us to select 'reoccurring payment' in a repeating invoice for Gocardless in Xero.
When Xero generates a repeating invoice that is setup for auto collection from Gocardless, it is classed as a new payment each time and sends the Gocardless customer an email everytime.
In Gocardless when subscriptions were done through its own systems, they were classed as reoccurring payments and therefore as per BACS rules, the customer does not need to be informed everytime payment is taken.
We have over 400 monthly payments and growing, we can't keep emailing customers everytime we take their approved monthly payment, it…

GoCardless - Notification of chargebacks on invoices
We need a way for Xero to know that there was a chargeback on an invoice through GoCardless so that the payment applied against the Xero invoice is removed.
There have been instances where a customer's bank did not accept the charge made against the bank account and GoCardless charged us back for the invoice. We didn't collect the payment, but Xero still has the invoice marked as paid. When reconciling AR this month, there was a few invoices that were charged back but were still showing paid.

Stripe - Revert back to one Stripe Bank Account in Xero rather than requiring two accounts
Last week, against my wishes (and against Xero Support's own knowledge), Xero System Generated a second Stripe bank account in Xero.
I already had a Stripe bank account in Xero that was working fine, it had a bank feed for payments processed via Stripe from other software, and it would have the bank feed and create the payment and fee Xero transactions for payments processed via Stripe on Xero invoices.
I don't want two separate Stripe bank accounts in Xero for my one Stripe AUD account.
Why does Xero do unhelpful things like this?

Invoicing - Adding a payment refund
Sometimes clients pays an invoice but then if a refund is issued from that invoice to the same client, in Xero there is no option to add a refund on an invoice, you can only add a payment.
You can only add a refund on a CN but no always there is a CN available.
When a company has multiple clients and there is a large movement of funds, refunds and payments it is very difficult to keep track of these and a suspense account has to be used and therefore be reconciled at the end of the year. Is…16 votesHi Sara, along with Credit Notes, there is also facilities for Overpayment and Prepayments. Would these commonly fit the scenarios in which you're describing here where large amounts of funds are transferred and perhaps a business overpays their invoices to the business through which a refund is then issued?
Bein quite a tied in feature to the payments model I want to be open that we don't have any immediate plans for changing this or adding a new type of transactions that would directly add refunds to an invoice.

Invoicing | Payments - Remember reference
In the new "Record Payment" section on a sales invoice, it has lost the ability to remember the reference entered previously so i now have to retype the reference every time. Would be handy if we could have this back.
Also i have to enter multiple payments for each sales invoice at the same time to go to different banks/accounts - it would be good if i could do this in one screen instead of having to reload the same invoice each time to add a payment.
14 votesThanks for your feedback on the recent update of the payment section on an invoice. I've made sure to share this back with our product team and we will keep you updated if there is any further updates planned around the reference behaviour you've described, here.
Also appreciate that users that are making multiple payments would like to stay within the invoice and we have a separate idea for this here that we'll share any updates through.

GoCardless in Xero: Expand direct debit auto-match
I have used both the old & new GoCardless/Xero integrations. I thought the old one was great from an automation perspective if you were able to automate contact creation and this would automatically match the direct debit with the contact.
Unfortunately, the new integration is quite restricted and an auto-match will only be done if the DD mandate is created directly from an invoice in Xero. This makes things very difficult from a scalability perspective and makes the new GoCardless/Xero integration unworkable. I've worked some businesses who have 30+ new customers a week and, once the migration from the old…

Statements - Ability to include Credit note when making payment
New Statements with a pay now option are excellent. I feel it would be helpful for the customer to be able to select a credit note to pay to avoid overpayments.
Ie: customer has $400 in credit from December and a January invoice for $200 - on the January statement the customer is still allowed to select to pay the $200 invoice and not take up the credit note.
13 votesGreat to hear you like the pay now option on statements, Marney. Can see how it would be useful to be able to include and apply Credit Notes when making payment. We'll start to get a sense of the interest in this from others on your idea and I'll share if there are any updates for you on this.

Stripe surcharge fee adjustment - Different fees For international and Domestic customers
It would be good if Xero allows for stripe surcharge fee adjustment for both domestic and international customers, not just domestic customers.
