    Thanks for taking the time to suggest how Xero could better support sending quotes and invoices to multiple contacts.

    As you may be aware, you can currently create invoices for contact groups and these can be sent in bulk from the invoice overview page. However, this functionality is currently not available for quotes.

    We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

  2. It's good to see you have extended the period before removing classic invoicing because I still need to revert to classic for certain features that are missing from the new system, namely:

    1. The ability to copy invoices to Bills and PO's - this is an important feature that I use regularly
    2. Send invoices via Xero network - again this is a feature that has been useful especially for invoicing between subsidiaries.
    3. Save and continue feature, I don't like the auto save feature because it continues to update the history and notes while I am still adding details to the invoice…

You'll receive any updates of progress for these separately. I'll just adjust the title for your idea here to reflect your last point around the formatting of a contact name. We'll let you know if there is any change planned for this, here.

  3. In the "New version of Invoicing" disappeared an amazing function - when you open an invoice after it has been approved, it always displays as tax exclusive, even if you entered it as tax inclusive. In the new version if you approved an invoice tax inclusive it ONLY shows it as tax inclusive. Can you please add the feature of seeing both versions of the same invoice.
    And another feature that disappeared in the new version is to see account number, not just the name of the account. Can you add it back too? And move it back to the…

  4. When emailing a batch of invoices every month I need to click in every email field in turn to scroll along to view second & sometimes third email addresses for that client. Can the email field be widened please. It is so narrow sometimes just one email address can't be seen in full.

  5. When you update the inventory selling price of an item you expect that this is reflected when a repeated invoice is generated. This is not currently the case. The price is ONLY updated when you edit the repeated invoice. Please have an option box on the repeated invoice that allows inventory price updates on generation. Currently waste hours and hours and make mistakes every time an inventory item changes price. Logged support cases about this for years but trying here now. Huge time saver.

  6. In New Invoicing, I need the ability to view the files in the file library prior to attaching them to an invoice, as I can do in Classic Invoicing. This is because when received into the file library, the files aren't always in the same order as they were scanned. I tried attaching a file using New Invoicing and it wasn't the right file and, because I couldn't return the file to the file library, I had to rescan the document back into the file library.   7. We have monthly invoices and we have multiple lines, sometimes 100+. With the new invoicing, the approve button is at the top of the screen and I have to scroll to the top every time I got to check the total prior to approving. Can you please make the 'approve' ribbon fixed at the top of the screen when you scroll down?

    You may find using the 'Home' button on your keyboard helps to quickly navigate back to the top of page for now.

  8. When invoicing, i usually do in large batches. The save and close function should be second, with save and add another first. Or have the option to edit so it comes first for me?

    Hi community, we've recently released shortcuts in new invoicing that cut down the number of mouse clicks and help you perform actions on your invoice with the use of your keyboard. 

    We've added small prompts to highlight these shortcut combinations in product, and if you’d like to view the full list of options you can view them all on Xero Central

    While save options were explored as part of this work, the only keyboard shortcut right now is Save & close (Alt-Shift-C).

    Another option you may want to test for yourself is the '/i' keyboard shortcut. As new invoicing has auto save when you're ready to add another invoice, you could simply type '/i' on your screen. This will open the global search in the blue header with options to go to All invoice, or Create new invoice which you could either click or use Tab to select.

  9. Rows on invoices - On the new invoicing manually adding rows is cumbersome for a mechanic business suggest making more than 1 row on the invoice. I rarely have an invoice which is less than 6 rows.
    Font size- Font is very small and should be increased to at minimum 12pt.

    Hi Lynda, appreciate your feedback here. As you may have seen from updates on this idea we have now added the ability to add multiple rows to an invoice at a time in sets of 5, 10 or 20 like you could in classic invoicing.

    Earlier this year we also enhanced the invoice grid to optimise font size, padding and column widths. I want to be transparent that we don't have further plans for changing the font size in invoicing.

  10. When a new invoice is created, have the reference number auto fill from saved data. Just like you can save what sales account and tax to use for a contact. I have customers that give me a blanket PO for the year and I use it on every invoice I create for them.

    Hi Danielle, when you say you'd like to post an application. Could quotes potentially be a fit for this purpose here? Otherwise could you share a bit more detail on what would be needed to record the application in Xero.

  12. The "Review and pay" banner misleads recipients into thinking they can make electronic payments, but we're not using e-invoicing and have it turned off. Another major issue is that it causes significant delays in loading or, in some cases, renders the invoice completely inaccessible. The banner in the new invoicing should be named "Review" rather than "Review and pay" or be editable to suit different needs.

It would be great to apply the Customers general discount (as set on their Contact Card) to only specified product items, not all product items. e.g. I don't want the Customers discount applied to say my Freight or Labour product items, but I do want to apply it to other products items we are selling.

    I would envisage a Tick Box on each Product card that we can tick, or untick, for the Customers Discount to be applied to it (by default it would be ticked to apply the Customers Discount).

    Appreciate the differing makeups of our customers and the improvements you see that would help your use of Xero.

    I want to be open that we don't have planned changes for adding a discount option within Inventory items themselves atm but we will continue to watch the trend in this idea and share if there is any change.

  14. Transaction "History and notes": show in the title how many notes exist. This will avoid having to click the drop down arrow head to check every time. e.g. "History and notes (3 entries)".

    Hi Peter, we get why being able to see the number of entries in the History and notes section at a glance would be helpful, especially when you're quickly checking for activity on an invoice.

    It might seem like a small change, but we can see how it would save time and make things just that bit easier when you're managing lots of transactions.

    This idea is now in the Gaining Support stage, which means we’re keeping an eye on how much interest it gets. Feel free to add your vote or share how this would help you, the more context we have, the better. We’ll keep this thread updated with any news.

  15. Dont automatically open a new tab when clicking the contact link in the new invoice or give option to turn this off.
    There is Alt+click shortcut on all browsers to do this already.
    Making this auto open as default leads to too many unnecessary tabs and attributing to a more messy workflow

    Thanks for your detailed feedback, everyone. We do find that customers have differing expectations of how clicking a link should behave.

    With the current behaviour, opening the contact in a separate tab means that users don't lose any information they may have entered in the invoice.

    We don't have any plans for changing this in the near term but it'll be good for us to continue to get a sense of the interest around this from our community here. If there are any changes that may impact this we'll share an update with you all here.

  16. Payment information on invoices updates automatically from information held in the payment services section of Xero. Except, using the .DOCX templates, they don't update automatically your business's bank account details.

    Scenario - you accept invoice payments direct to your business bank account. Those details are included in the invoice template. You change your bank account details. You have to update each and every invoice template you have to show the new bank account details. However, if you change your Stripe payment information for example, that information is automatically updated in your templates. Why the different treatment?

  18. You can only allocate payment on accounts to a customer ledger on Xero by clicking 'Overpayment' which is very long winded. Please can this be simplified to select the customer and then allocate straight as a 'payment on account' and then this can be allocated to the invoice once this is uploaded.

    In addition, if there is money out that gets contra'd against money received from a client, there is no way of coding this to the customer ledger.

  19. Make it possible for imported invoices to be marked as sent when importing them.
    Perhaps an additional column in the template Mark as sent status "Y for sent N for not sent"
    If this is not possible the ability to bulk "mark as sent"
    this would eliminate the issue of individually opening each invoice to manually "mark as sent" to activate the auto invoice reminders

  20. Massive oversight by Xero.
    E-Invoicing only available to VAT registered companies as you have to enter a VAT number. What about all the non-registered companies?
    Why can't you select that you aren't VAT registered and be able to benefit by E-Invoicing?

    Hi everyone, we appreciate interest from non-VAT registered businesses that'd like to make use of the efficiencies eInvoicing brings.

    As the UK do not have a standard business number, this creates complexity in being able to identify and register non-VAT registered businesses on the Peppol network.

    While this is an idea that we'd like to continue to gain interest from our community in, we want to be upfront we don't have any plans to support eInvoicing for non-VAT registered businesses in the near term.

    We're actively advocating for this with the UK Government as part of their recent e-Invoicing consultation.
