Hey community, we want to acknowledge all the feedback you’ve provided on this idea. We know from your comments here and through other channels that taking deposits or partial payments on invoices is a crucial part of the workflow for many businesses, whether it’s to cover initial costs or to confirm a new project.

In terms of current options, within Xero there is the ability to create prepayments. Alternatively there are some third-party apps that serve these needs, too.

However, we do want to share that our product team is actively working on a solution that’ll allow you to request and accept deposit payments.

While we can’t give specifics on a timeline as yet, please know that this is a priority for us. We’re grateful for the detailed feedback you’ve provided so far, which has been invaluable in getting us to this point.

While pockets of research have been done in the past we’re getting a fresh lens and conducting a broader piece of discovery to deeply analyse and understand where our efforts could be focused in this space to alleviate existing hurdles in receiving payments for majority of Xero users. Hi community, thanks for sharing how deposits are used in your business and adding support for a direct way to apply a deposit to an invoice in Xero.

Bringing this idea over from our previous forums we appreciate interest for this.

Our team have done a fair bit of research to define what deposits could look like. Right now, there’s dependency on work that is being done to upgrade technology ( https://central.xero.com/s/article/Building-on-beautiful ) through sales and payments, and no direct work for deposits.

• As others have mentioned in the thread – there are options through payment service providers like Stripe to collect deposits via their platform rather than directly on Xero Invoices, and you may want to look into
