AU Payroll - Include a comparison field in Payroll Reports
Payroll reports - it will be good to have a COMPARISION field on payroll reports just like the P&L - to compare with previous n number of months / periods.
While the grouping / summarizing features are good - they are limited to just reporting on a particular period.
Hence any Comparisions are tedious to run / export and consolidate on excel.
For. eg. I'd like to run a report to display :
Afternoon Shift Loading & Overtime work for a month OR the full FY with monthly columns.
Is this something we can get to without having to export each period and consolidate on excel?
Thanks for your patience, it’s been a little while since you raised this idea, so we wanted to check in. We've now reviewed this idea and have moved it to Gaining Support status. Our product team are keeping an eye on this idea and we will continue to share updates as things evolve.

This is the one thing I miss from MYOB. When processing pays there, it showed the amount paid in the prior run by default. Would be great to see something similar in Xero.

AU – Month-to-Month Payroll Transaction Variance Report
The current Payroll Activity Summary and Payroll Activity Details reports don’t allow for an easy comparison between two months (e.g., current vs previous). Because of the way the data is structured, it’s quite difficult to compare pay components without doing significant manual adjustments and re-ordering.
A built-in Payroll Variance Report that shows month-to-month differences for each pay component would be extremely beneficial for payroll people.

This would be good so that we can run the Payroll Activity Summary report for the last period of the year, and then compare it to the previous periods for the year. Would come in very handy at end of FY for bookkeepers / accountants who need to do BAS and Payroll Tax reconciliations.

It would be helpful if there was a Payroll Report that shows the Variance for employes from one period to the next.
