  1. Payroll/Wages Payable Reconciliation
    It is quiet difficult in Xero to find out wages payable error done because there is no system of matching wages payment with the payroll journal at the transaction allocation stage.
    e.g. as we get the suggestions to allocate a payment received against an invoice, it should be similar with the wages.
    If there is any over/under payment it will be detected at the transaction allocation stage as there won't be any matching payroll transaction existing. This feature is there in MYOB. This is the only reason where I find MYOB better than Xero.

  2. Can we have an audit trail, even if similar to invoices/bills, where we can see the who, date & time of the payslips being sent out for a pay calendar?
    This helps to know the payslips have been sent out and that there is an audit trail for this.

  3. We have hourly paid employees who get paid 12 x per year with either a 4 week or 5 week pay period. At present, Xero doesn't give this option to change a pay period within payroll calendars. There are only set pay periods.

  4. Ability in payroll to reinstate terminated employees past the 30 days Xero currently allows. Many businesses have seasonal workers or students who just work holidays, being able to reinstate the employee with all their information would be much easier than having to add them as a new employee every time they are re-employed. Most other payroll systems allow reinstatement of terminated employees.

  5. As an approver of timesheets i see there are couple of issues which can make the process water tight.

    1.Ability to see approved time sheets (siimilar to leaves). Currently once the timesheet is approved for an individual there is no way to check what has been approved

    2.Ability to run a report for all employees that have been approved or alternatively ability to allow access to certain reports to the approver.

  6. The ability to be able to print out a breakdown for the employee of their payments for SMP and how Xero calculates them. This is available in other payroll software

  7. Multi select or more filter options when processing superannuation payments. This would expediate processing super payments for large employers. For example, you should be able to filter the super payment to show only last month super and select all and submit for payment. At the moment, if we want to process the previous month's super, we have to manually unselect each employee super that relates to the next month or quarter that we aren't required to pay yet.

  9. Create timesheet availability to Contractors set up in Xero payroll as Non employee.
    Currently this is only available to employees.

    Require the ability to process timesheets to pay Subcontractors for hours worked on site so Super is taken into account but PAYG is not applicable.
    Currently not available to STP2 category Contractor 'Non Employees'

  10. Allow businesses to adapt their Xero Dashboard with "Widgets" such as reminders of submission dates for next payroll run, CIS submission, VAT Return etc. Also show current outstanding values for net pay, CIS & PAYE/NIC payments, VAT payment/refund.

    Hi Sharon, a few ideas rolled in the one here. While appreciate the detail it would not be possible for the teams to work on these widgets at once. 

    It would be good to get a view of the interest in each. 

    I've adjust the title of your idea here to reflect your first idea on reminders. We have another for the ability to show tax on the dashboard you may like to join & support, and welcome to start any others for particular widgets you'd like to see so we can begin to get a sense of the interest in each. 🙂

  11. Allow a timesheet to be created for the week ahead of the pay week. This allows employees with standard hours to enter their hours in advance. It also allows managers to run payrolls in advance if circumstances need it

  12. The current option available for updating the time in lieu of XERO is to previously inform the fixed number of hours that will be added to the leave balance in the leave register. However, the number of hours varies each week, so I cannot predict in advance how many hours each employee will work.

    My suggestion includes an automatic update from the time in lieu of using a timesheet. Thus reducing the probability of errors by entering the balance manually.

  13. Allowing the payslips to be emailed before posting to HMRC to check for any errors would be great. We have multiple users involved in the payroll data input and there are usually one or two errors as there are many expenses claims. Being able to do this would make life so much easier for us.

    Thanks for your interest and feedback on this idea, everyone. Currently, you can View Payslips from within the draft pay run by clicking into Options > View Payslips.

    From here you could download and email the payslips from outside Xero.

    Though no plans at present, if anything changes in this space, we’ll update you on this idea.

  14. Xero Payroll Journal non-cash option for the Cash Summary

    Currently all transactions from the Payroll Journal will pull through to the Cash Summary Report. The information that pulls through doesn't differentiate what has being paid from a bank account or non-cash.

    Suggestion to add a functionality in Xero Payroll and exclude certain items from the Payroll Journal from automatically showing in the Cash Summary Report.

  15. Employee loans and advances should have the ability to add the gross amount starting date deduction amount this should then be reduced by each payment so the amount still owe can be seen at any time.

  17. It's great that Xero Me now allow employees to add their own start, finish and break times but all hours appear as ordinary hours. Xero should have a warning prompt flagging this as it's easy to miss overtime hours and pay them as the default ordinary hours, which then needs an unscheduled pay run to correct the underpayments (assuming you work this out for yourself!). Public holidays should also be flagged so we can adjust pay rates (if needed) for these days.

  18. Give the ability to set a percentage (i.e) 50% on an employees bank account when paying across more than one bank.
    I have an employee who always splits her pay equally between 2 bank accounts, however she is a commission paid rep and therefore each pay amount is different. So the current function is no use to me- which allows a $$ amount to be set only. This is fine for set salaried employees but not for commissioned sales reps.
    MYOB had a function where you could set a percentage on how much went to bank account 1, and therefore…

  20. See who was selected as an approver by employees. If we have been selected as an approver by the employee, it is currently impossible to know if they also selected their appropriate approver to know if we should reject the timesheet or leave or if we can wait for the appropriate approver to approve the timesheet or leave.
