AU Payroll - New Employee - Online Commencement Forms
Ability to send and generate online commencement forms from Xero Payroll.
Purpose: Employees can complete and submit their own online commencement forms, rather than having to ask the employers to submit it.

Xero Me | Timesheets - Ability to choose different earnings rate when using start and end times
Before we had start/stop times, employees were able to add different pay rates (ie Saturday Penalty Rate). It would be excellent if this option could be included with the start/stop time version in Xero Me.
117 votesHi everyone, thanks for getting behind this idea and sharing the need for employees to add multiple earnings rates to Start and End timesheets.
Your examples demonstrate how different earnings rates in a single timesheet would save time and improve payroll accuracy for industries with varied awards.
We understand many of you are currently editing timesheets after employees submit them, which adds extra steps.
The good news is that idea is now in discovery. Our product team is currently reviewing the viability of this idea and exploring what a solution could look like.
We will post an update here as soon as we have more news.

Xero Me - Clock in and clock out on timesheets
Xero Me - Needs spot in App to input the Earnings Rate and Tracking Category for the employee. Needs a start/stop button for clocking in/out so that when the employee starts the day they simply press start and the app records the time started. When they press stop it records the stop time until the start time is pressed again. This can be used for breaks and for start and finish of the day - these can be edited if someone forgets. We see how being able to clock in and out directly from Xero Me would improve accuracy for job tracking, while enabling employees to easily log start/finish times and capture breaks at the touch of a button.
As part of a wider project to improve timesheets in Xero, we’ve updated the status of this idea to Accepted.
While this status means the product team would like to develop this, it’s not currently on our roadmap and we don’t have a delivery timeframe. We will continue to consider your feedback as we plan future updates. Thanks for your patience and ongoing engagement.

AU Payroll - Leave requests for part time workers that dont work standard hours
When multiple days are requested the ability to adjust the hours for leave application so it matches the ordinary hours for particularly days.

We understand the value of shifting the task of adjusting hours to employees, freeing up payroll administrators’ time for other priorities and we also appreciate the points raised around accuracy and compliance.
While we don’t have current plans to deliver exactly what’s been suggested here, our product team is continuing to focus on developing working patterns within AU Payroll. Based on what we’ve seen in other regions, this'll likely address many of the needs discussed here.
We’ll move this idea to Not in pipeline for now, but we’ll keep you posted on any updates that could help achieve what’s being asked.

Xero Me - Ability to limit access to timesheets and leave
Xero Me - ability to limit access by function to prevent employee using timesheet or leave request in the app when a 3rd party app is being used for those functions.
76 votesHi everyone, thanks for all your feedback. We understand how important customisable payroll access is for many of our customers to effectively run their business. As you may have seen in other parts of Xero (like inventory & reporting) we’re beginning to develop more granular controls for permissions in some areas.
While we’ll continue to consider how we develop access to other features across Xero, we want to be upfront here that we don’t have any plans for providing the ability to disable access to timesheets or leave through the Xero Me app.
With this in mind, we’ll move this idea to Not in pipeline. You’ll see there are other ideas surrounding Payroll permissions that may solve for what you’d be after in this idea, and I’d recommend adding your vote to those so we can share if there’s any progress toward that functionality as we keep developing.

NZ and AU Payroll - Send link for easy onboarding of new employees
Send a link to on board new employees info ie TFN, bank accounts, super account and all personal particulars to get them ready for a pay run.

I'm pleased to return with a further update for you all.
We have been developing the capability fir employees to self onboard to Xero Payroll. Our feature would enable employees to enter their own onboarding details via a secure web form. Giving payroll admins back more time to focus on more important tasks.
We want to be upfront that the intention is to release this in the Australian version of Xero Payroll first, with NZ and UK to follow. We will keep you up to date of the release here. 😊

Xero Me - Timesheets default start and finish times
Ability for the employee in Xero Me. to be able to create a timesheet template so that they don't have to complete the start, finish and break times for every day every pay period.

Thanks for starting this idea! Did you see last week that our Product Team released an update that helps speed things up on Xero Me Mobile? They’ve enabled the ability to copy previous time entries in start-end timesheets on a per day basis. To do this, enter your time entries as usual for the first day in your timesheet, and then select the “copy from [date]” option when adding a new time entry for a consecutive day.
The team are interested in further exploring improvements in this area, but at this stage there are no firm plans to progress this idea. They’ve got their eyes on the ground though - closely monitoring your ideas, votes and comments. -
AU Payroll | Employee - Field for Employee Number
Include a new field in Payroll Employee data with employee number. Employees will have a unique identifier in Xero. For any new employees, Xero will generate a unique number.

Currently Xero uses unique identifiers for employees which are included in STP files sent to the ATO, however there’s currently no ability to add employee numbers to employment records.
After reviewing with our product team, this feature isn't currently on our roadmap so we'll update the status to 'Not in Pipeline'. As an alternative, payroll admins can use the Notes section or adapt an existing field in the employees record to assist with identifying employees.
Whilst we understand this may not be the outcome you’d hoped for, we appreciate you taking the time to provide us with feedback to help shape Xero.

Timesheets: Daily approvals
Weekly Payroll calendars and get paid monthly.
It would be advantageous if timesheets can be submitted daily and approved daily.
Reason: approved cannot remember hours staff worked last 30 days. approver has to make a note of hours and then refer to notes when approving timesheets submitted.46 votes -
Account Transactions Report - Ability to filter Source as 'Payroll Expense Journal'
When reviewing the 'Account Transactions' report in Xero there is an ability to filter by 'Source' type. However, only the 'Select all' option includes Payroll Expense Journals.
Considering I can filter around every other transaction type, I don't see why Payroll Expense Journals can't be added as a source option?
I know exporting to Excel works as a workaround - but considering every other source type is available adding one more shouldn't be difficult?
6 votesHi team, appreciate recent feedback when we recently merged this idea to this one. Understand that there's a bit of a difference in what's being asked between the two ideas, and we've unmerged to continue to track these ideas separately.
Being open there are no current plans to add a filter for Payroll expense journal to Source, however we will continue to get a sense of the interest in this and let you know if any progress is made, here.

UK Payroll - Report showing PAYE obligation, due date and account code
Produce a report/statement in Xero or Xero Payroll which would inform my clients on how much to pay to HMRC, which HMRC account/sort code to use, what reference to use, and what date it should be at HMRC by.... available for each time a Payroll is run.

AU Payroll - Ability to pay an overseas foreign resident employee
we will have an overseas employee (from NZ) joining our australian company. In payroll I can put under Taxes the status Foreign Resident but not his address in NZ. I find this very restrictive to only be able to choose a State in Aus and no overseas addresses. Anybody an idea how to circumnavigate this without having to find some additional app to connect with Xero as was suggested by Xero Support.

AU Payroll | Employee - Add multiple email addresses
Add a second email address for an employee, for their payslips to be sent too - i.e. if payslips need to be sent to an employment agency each pay run, their email address can be added and payslips automatically sent here each pay run, rather than manually downloading payslips to send outside of Xero.

Timesheets: Allow non-employees to submit timesheets for reimbursement
I think it would be great to have a submit for approval option in timesheets on the web version just like you can with invoices and bills. I am a third party bookkeeper and therefore Xero Me isn't really an option because, I am not an employee so I can't really use Xero me and if a timesheet is submitted by an employee, it has to be sent to me for approval for editing to ensure it comes through to payroll correctly for processing as an approved timesheet cannot be edited in payroll. A client has asked for the functionality to show the Kiwisaver deduction rate for employees on their payslip?
It would be really helpful for all staff to know what this is, and also check they are on the correct rate?

Apologies, and we'll shift this idea back to 'Submitted' so we can continue to track and share if there are developments in New Zealand Payroll.
However, at the moment this is not in the team's plans.

Xero Me - Decimal hours for timesheets in Xero Me
Xero Me App
When an employee is trying to enter the hours worked it only provides an option to do hours and minutes for the day worked, yet on the desktop it can be done simply as a decimal. For example we do 7.6 hours normal working hours with 0.4 hours going to an RDO bank for every day (except on an RDO).
It just seems really silly to have to adjust it to an equivalent of minutes instead of the hours total, be it whole or decimal for each and every day. Can this be fixed to work exactly…
