Projects - Allow as an Add-On for all pricing plans
As a 1-man business I only need limited features, but the Project feature is one of these that feels essential to my line of work. It is only available in the highest pricing plan and is not available as an add-on. This appears to price out small businesses who want this feature. Please consider allowing this as an add-on, even if it isn't to be available in different pricing tiers.

Invoicing - Apply tracking category automatically after creation
When you need to create a new tracking option in the sales invoice screen, you have to search for it again after you have just created it.
This used to work where it would keep the tracking option you just created but now you have to then search for it to select it again. Invoices - Create invoice to a date. Simple scheduling calender
Basically calendar to add draft invoices to, to use as a job scheduling calendar.
Add draft invoices/job to a date add basic detail to the schedule day and it saves the detail in the description row on invoice with the date.
Each time you add an invoice to a date and you add detail it adds new row with simple details
Once finished you finalize draft invoice as normal.
14 votesHi Michael, returning to your idea here this'd be quite a difference to the way in which Xero works today and we don't have any plans of adding an invoice calendar to be able to schedule tasks that'll add new rows to an existing invoice.
That said, we have another idea for being able to add a date column to invoices that you may like to join and would be a step toward what you're hoping to achieve here.
Alternatively, if not already I'd recommend exploring Projects that enables you to add tasks and expenses on the fly. When ready you can create draft invoices from the tasks and expenses within a project which can be carried through as either a combined line or individual lines on your invoice.

Export Accounting Data - Export data with tracking categories split into columns
Add an option to export accounting data with tracking categories split into separate lines instead of combined in one field.
This would make exports much easier to use in other software, reduce manual data cleanup, and support clients who need to import Xero data into reporting tools or different accounting systems.

Projects - Ability to Convert an Estimated Expense to an actual Expense
Add a button to move an estimated expense to become an actual expense. Would save time having to copy and paste the description. Add ability to amend final cost.

Projects - Assigning tasks within a Project to individual employees
We would find the facility to assign tasks to individual employees very helpful. We have large Projects over summer where various contractors/employees are required to do individual tasks on the Project. During this busy period, multiple tasks are added to each Project. Ideally we would like those personnel only seeing what they are assigned to, so as there is no confusion on who should be doing which task.

Projects - Sort and filter project list numerically by Project Name
Here’s a clearer version you could use as a Xero feature request:
It would be really helpful if Projects could be filtered or sorted properly by Project Name.
We use sequential numbers as our project names, and we are now well over project number 10,000. At the moment, Xero appears to sort the project names as text rather than numerically. This means that projects beginning with “1” are grouped together, so newer project numbers such as 10,000+ can appear before much older project numbers.
This makes it quite difficult to quickly determine what the next available project number should be.…3 votesHi Linda, thanks for sharing this feedback. Xero Projects - Show calendar view
i just want to use one app for everything, a calendar view to see what i have booked in would be very useful. at the moment i don't get the best use out of xero i'm running my business of multiple apps putting a calendar in xero would mean i can run the business directly from the xero platform
we have quoting, invoicing we have the ability to take payments through the app on-site but i barely do any of that within xero because its lacking a calendar.
there is no point in having "projects" without a calendar to quickly…

Project Info Menu
Project Info menu - For each project, add a "Project Info" menu so that we can include some brief information on the project. For example, Description of Works (i.e. New build; Renovations; New Office Addition; Pool works etc.), Project Start Date, Estimated Project Completion Date, Contract Number, Contract Sum, Site Foreman Name etc.

Projects - Add Project Time to Quick Create Shortcut Menu
It would be great to have a shortcut to adding project time. At the moment, the + near settings has a shortcut to many functions, but not project related functions.

XPH - Pop-out window for new time-entry time tracking
It would be great if the "new time entry" dialogue box could be opened in its own window, or similar to the phone app, have a distinct desktop app we can have open permanently on our computers - to make time recording easy and accessible.

Xero Payroll - Audit trail/Time logs for timesheet entries
Time logs in timesheets. I will be very helpful if there are time logs, when updating timesheets. We can see when our employees has updated their timesheets, if that is on time or late. This will help us trough chasing purposes.

Quick tip in the meantime: You can use the Timesheet Summary Report to quickly identify which employees haven't submitted hours for a specific period, which might help with your chasing process!

Contacts - Option to add "New Project for This Contact"
Need the option on a contact page to open a new project for them. similar to the New invoice link

Smart Document Capture – Assign transaction to a Project”.
I’m very surprised that the ability to assign a cost to a Xero Project has not been included in Smart Document Capture from the outset, particularly as this functionality is already available when publishing transactions through Hubdoc.
Smart Document Capture is supposed to make document processing quicker and more efficient, but removing functionality that users already have in Hubdoc actually makes the workflow more cumbersome.
At present, I can review and code a document in Smart Capture and create the transaction, but if the cost relates to a Project, I then have to leave Smart Capture, find the newly created…

Improve the Projects listing page with clear and aligned spent v estimated number
I would appreciate if the project summary would align better: everything is right-aligned so the bar graphs all start in a different spot. (Numbers fudged).
I would like the budget (ie: the estimate) to be right next to the "spent" number so that I can clearly see how over or under the project currently is. Right now, the estimate number is tiny and hidden to the left underneath the project name which makes it very unuseful for comparison – the eye has to dart between the far left side and the far right side.
Also, it's not really a project…

Bills - Certificate Insurance | Prevent bill from being submitted after COI has expired
Certificate insurance is a big part of our company's operation. Xero needs to include a mandatory compliance option for companies to implement. When a compliance requirement, e.g., a certificate of insurance, is due to expire in 30 days, the system should prevent bills from being submitted for payment until compliance is met.

NZ Payroll - Assign hours worked from a timesheet to projects
Employee's time assigned to projects direct from Xero payroll not the other way around as it is now.

Project Slider bar show invoice/uninvoiced progress bar
It would be great to have the slider bars in that shows the project estimates on the Projects in progress dashboard, to be able to show what has been invoiced and what is still to be invoiced just like the slider shows when you have over invoiced on a project.
