Client - Add more relationship options
We have a number of Trust who now have "Special Trust Advisors" appointed by Deeds. I would like to be able to add in Special Trust Advisors as a relationship in trusts.
It would be really useful to be able to customise the relationship options in all business categories
Hi everyone, thanks for sharing this idea. We understand you’re looking for more flexibility in how relationships between contacts can be recorded within Xero Practice Manager.
The suggestion is to add more relationship options, such as identifying roles like beneficiaries or corporate trustees, so practices can better capture specific client structures.
We’ve moved this to Gaining Support so we can track interest and help our product teams understand the value of expanding relationship options.

This would be an essential QA feature as the ATO increases its scrutiny on trusts

We would like to suggest adding “Specified Individual” as an available relationship option within Xero Partner Hub.
Currently, when managing relationships for clients, the available relationship types do not always accurately reflect the nature of the individual’s role or authority in relation to the entity. In particular, there are situations where an individual is a specified individual for tax, ATO or other compliance purposes, but there is no appropriate relationship type available to record this in Xero Partner Hub.
Adding “Specified Individual” as a relationship option would allow accounting practices to accurately record and identify these individuals against the relevant client/entity. This would improve the accuracy of client records and reduce the need to use an alternative relationship type that does not accurately describe the individual’s role.
Ideally, the new relationship type would:
Be available alongside the existing relationship options in Xero Partner Hub.
Allow the specified individual to be linked directly to the relevant client/entity.
Be visible to practice staff when reviewing the entity’s relationships.
Be recognised across relevant Xero practice and ATO-related workflows where relationship information is used. This would provide greater flexibility and accuracy when maintaining client relationship records and would be particularly useful for accounting practices managing entities with multiple individuals and varying roles.

With AML/CTF we need more options in the relationship area so that the "Know your client" data is more accurate.
Shareholder - can we have class and number of shares held
Beneficiary - can we have primary/designated and secondary as options -

'Specified Individual' or 'FTE Test Individual' for family trust elections would also be valuable
