XPH - Bulk update staff permissions and settings
I'd like to update staff charge out rates and access rights by team, rather than having to open each team member individually. With 90 team members, this is time-consuming and increases the risk of errors. I imagine many larger firms have the same problem.
Xero doesn't have a bulk update feature for staff charge out rates in Practice Manager or Xero Partner Hub. Each staff member's billable rate needs to be updated individually by going to Settings, then Staff, selecting the staff member, and updating their rate in the Financials & performance section.
Similarly, access rights and permissions need to be set individually for each staff member. While you can assign multiple clients to a single staff member at once, or assign multiple staff members to a single client, you can't bulk update permissions by team or group across multiple staff members simultaneously. We adjust hourly rates annually and benchmark the team at levels such as Manager, Senior, Associate Director etc. these staff need to have consistent rates and permissions.
This would be a valuable time-saving feature for practices like mine with large teams. This functionality has been raised before, and I've been asked to request the enhancement many times over the years.

Hi Rhianan, thanks for raising this suggestion. Being able to select a group of staff and update their rates or permissions at the same time could make practice administration easier.
I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can continue gathering feedback. It would be useful to hear whether you’d prefer bulk updates based on role, team, level or another grouping.
