Contact Person - Multiple Email Addresses for Different Purposes
Hello Xero Support,
I would like to suggest an enhancement to the customer contact feature for better management of email addresses. Many customers use different email addresses for specific purposes, such as one for receiving tax invoices and another for account statements. Currently, this creates an issue when using the "Send Statement" feature under the Sales Overview, as it can’t send statements to all customers at once when their default email address is designated for tax invoices only.
It would be helpful to have the option to nominate different email addresses for specific purposes (e.g., "Tax Invoice," "Account Statement," etc.)…

Contacts - Bulk Archive option if inactive for an extended time
Bulk archive option for any contact either supplier and customer with no activity after 2 years or at least being able to run a report for the same inactivity (Smart list does not offer the options needed)

request to change the contact unique identifier from contact name to contact account number for invoice template
Hi Xero Support, we have 2 clients carry exactly the same name (eg. both of the client's full name is ALVIN CHUA), understand that Xero contact name serves as the unique identifier for individual client, we just want to know do we allowed to create 2 different contacts for exactly same name (eg. create twice for ALVIN CHUA) in Xero but identify them as different contact via contact account number (eg: HMC001 and HMC011)? And, for invoice import template, possible that Xero help to change the mandatory contact name to mandatory contact account number instead? Contact account number as unique…

customer reminder emails
The ability to send an outstanding reminder notice to Customers that includes a list of multiple invoice that are outstanding.
Our customers can have upwards of 40 invoices per month, and for a 30 day EOM customer, I would like to be able to send 1 reminder that their account is past due.
I don't want to waist time sending individual invoices, or resend a statement, but more a letter that is clearly different from an invoice and statement that outlines what is overdue and how much is due.Statements are easily ignored if a customer thinks they have already…

For businesses like ours in construction that need to submit a Taxable Payments Annual Report (TPAR) to the ATO, it would be good if the CONTACT card created for that businesses highlighted (or made compulsory) all information required by the ATO at the time of entering the contact details for the first time.
A simple prompt of "does this supplier need to be included on your TPAR report" would be helpful; followed by the ATO's compulsory information requirements - eg. email address, abn, phone numbers etc.2 votesThanks for submitting your idea on Xero Product Ideas. ABN automatic verification from ABN lookup website
In MYOB, the ABN details are automatically verified with a green tick and automatic verification window . Surely Xero could do something similar? Rather than relying on manual verification which is very lame

Contacts - Create alert when entering a bill if a new contact has been created
When entering a invoice create an alert if a new contact is being in created, in case it is an error. It is too easy to make a typo without noticing and Xero will just make a new contact as default even though it's not needed.

Copy address for postal address
Ability to copy a contact address for postal.
Often a client has the same address for home and postal. when working with ATO Mate, a contact must have a postal address listed for it to search for the client.

Contact List - View contact group and last activity date
In Xero, under All contacts, would be great if we & please add had more columns or choices to add certain column of attributes of the contact showing if they are in a group, and possibly a last action date of last transaction, so that any can be easily Archived, when they haven't been accessed in a long while. Contact History & Notes Add filter and sort to differentiate xero system additions to our own notes
Can we please add some kind of sort or filter option to the History and notes section of a contact. Every time a statement etc is emailed it creates a history line which is absolutely fine, however when you add your own notes to a client (eg we advise them when there is a price increase to their subscription, we make a note on their file) it gets lost in all the history transactions listed of statements sent, so to be able to sort between what a system record created by xero is versus an actual note entry that I…

Contacts - Turn off the Contact name suggestions when entering transactions
Please provide functionality in Xero to turn off the contact name suggestions when creating an invoice, bill, receive money or spend money transaction. This is very frustrating especially if you make a mistake and it saves it, it is there forever. Also the list can get quite long. We need to delete the names that are not required anymore from the list. Please, please fix this issue up.
11 votesHi everyone, appreciate the feedback here. As you may have noticed we have made some changes to the Contact field within new invoicing over the past few months to improve the experience.
When entering a contacts name, the contact's shown are results from your existing contact record.
As a start to help with cleaning up contacts that have been created in error you can either edit contact records, or merge contacts that may have been created as duplicates in error. This will help limit the number of contacts that are appearing in results when you type a contacts name on an invoice.

Contact - Add filtering to the list of contacts
We are a small business that has just started using Xero, but already have 400+ contacts. Would love the ability to filter the contact list. For example, filter by country (show me all contacts in the UK, USA, etc.), filter by creation date or updated date (show me all contacts created in the last 30 days), etc.
There is no way to sort and filter the contacts, just endless scrolling through a long list.
Functionality feature that may not be critical to business operations, but it would make life a bit easier!
7 votesHi Brian, appreciate it's not a direct filter option like you're asking here however if you often need to filter by say country or another aspect of your Contact perhaps you may consider creating Contact groups? This way you'd be able to click on the group within contacts when you need.
Being open we don't have any direct plans for adding more filtering to the Contact list atm, but we'll continue to track your idea here and share if there are any plans made.

Customer Statements - Consolidated statements for a group of Contacts
We have dozens of parent companies with underlying subsidiaries who place separate orders for separate locations, all under the parent company's credit line/name. These all split into different contacts in Xero when they come in from our order processing system. We need Xero to support hierarchies/parent-child relationships/nested orders, so that all purchases can be aggregated to the parent company, both for tracking overall credit use and for sending consolidated statements that include all purchases from all "children". Make archiving and restoring contacts more intuitive and user-friendly.
Option for archiving contacts should be select from drop-down menu or click on "the 3 dots" and select.
Having to find an historical invoice allocated to an archived contact in order to restore them is super-unhelpful and counterintuitive. MUCH better to include archived contacts in Contacts options and include a "Restore" option via "press and hold", drop-down or the 3 dots.
3 votesHi Bradley, have you tried archiving and restoring contacts from the Contacts list? From here simply select the contact/s you'd like to archive and you'll see the option at the top of the list turn blue for you to click.
When you'd like to restore a contact you'll find the Archive tab as an option from this same screen, where you can click on the contact to open it's record and there is a blue Restore option in the top right.

Contact - Font color
If we cannot put a warning against the bad payers, surely it cannot be that hard to be able to change the customers business names into another color (Red) So when you search or create a new invoice, alarm bells will ring and hopefully avoid more loss
8 votesHi Todd, have you seen credit limits? These will allow you to set a limit to how much spending a customer can make with your business. When they reach that limit you can also choose whether to restrict invoicing for that customer. This may help with the scenario you're noting here.

Ensure that the branding theme that is assigned to a customer is used to send POs, statements, credit notes, quotes etc ... not just invoices.

Contact - Sub Categories
Would it be possible to create a contact who is a "sub contact" of an existing contact. For example we perform work for a strata management company. Every invoice is made out to [name of strata company] but the contact details, email address and physical address are all the same - that of the management company. I would love to create [strata management company] as the main contact with all the strata "divisions" they manage below them without having to create a new contact for every single new building. What are my chances?
27 votesAppreciate where you're coming from with this idea, Kirsty.
Right now you could create a Contact Group, and have each related contact assigned to that contact group. Get what you're saying with the efficiency when having most of the same details - for now perhaps importing via csv would help create these in less time.
We also have an idea for the ability to copy a contact, and another for contact group statements that you might like to join and follow.
We'll start to get a feel of the interest for this type of feature here, and I'll let you know if there's any change planned.
