  1. Switched to Xero because of a general disappointment in QuickBooks, but one feature that I wish Xero had: When reviewing financial statements (P&L, General Ledger, etc.) and I make a change to account # (or Entity), the reports do not automatically update - I have to input all parameters and re-run the report. I have used "Find and Recode" for multiple changes, but to make one or two changes requires rerunning the report.

Any chance that Xero will update to this feature?

Thanks so much for sharing this, although the financial reports are designed as on‑demand “snapshots”, we are happy yo say that after you change an account code or entity you only need to click Update to rerun the report with the latest data. Meaning you don't need to re‑enter all your report settings every time. Once you’ve set your preferred date range, filters, columns and layout, you can:

    • Just click Update again to recalc with the same parameters, and/or
    • Use Save as > Custom to save that layout as your own report (and even make it your default), so it’s always one click away😊
  2. Ability to add manual notes to Aged Receivables report. Currently we have to export the aged receivables report to excel to keep a log of the latest feedback/updates regarding overdue debtors. By adding manual comments directly on Xero, all users will have access to the latest feedback/follow up comments on overdue debtors. This will increase efficiency and ensure better control of our bad debts.

Hi! Did you know it's already possible to add notes to a report in Xero?

Just click the 'Insert Content' option in the bottom left and choose 'Enable add notes' to turn this on for your report. We have a bit if help around this in the Add text box and notes support article, but if you need an extra hand you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊

  3. I run a F&B business. Tracking Food, Beverage and Accommodation GPs has always been a KPI in our industry. Whilst it is possible to bespoke the new P&L report to provide an overall GP of all the above revenue streams combined it would be better if it were possible to report GP for each revenue stream, for instance Food Purchases as a % of Food Sales, or as %GP, beverage sales against beverage purchases etc.

Hey Richard, you can actually do this by creating a custom profit and Loss report! You would need to have a seperate account for each Revenuestream and the COGS for each of the revenue streams (food, beverage, types of beverages etc).

Then you can edit the report and create row that you would group each revenue stream with that streams COGS giving you the Gross profit for eac Revenue stream. If you need more help building this you can reach out to our Xero Support team to help you with this.😊

  4. Would it be possible when pulling account transaction reports from Xero to add the account name, instead of having it say Account Transactions?

Hi team, apologies we've not returned to update this idea sooner as it appears the requests here are now possible with the Account transactions report in Xero.

You'l find if you run the report for a single Account the name of the report when run will be 'Account Name' Transactions.

Account code and Account Name are now possible to add as separate columns, as well as the ability to group by either or as a combined field.

Thanks for sharing your feedback through the platform and we look forward to hearing more about how we can improve Xero for your business.

  5. In the account transaction report I would like to use the source filter to pick up Payroll & Super transactions only, however there seems to be no option, it would be great if there was one

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback on being able to filter the Account Transactions report on Payroll Journals only. While there isn’t a dedicated Source = Payroll Expense Journal filter, you can achieve this outcome by filtering on the Reference field.

To see only Payroll Expense Journals in the Account Transactions report:

    1. Add a Filter.
    2. Under Reference, Type: "Payroll Expense Journal"
    3. Run the report.

If you need an extra hand you can raise a case with our Xero Support specialists. 😊
