Improve official ChatGPT read-only access to receipts, transactions and general ledger
I am Jim Critchlow, and I run Mellor Nook Limited, a small residential care home in the UK. I use Xero for three organisations and have successfully connected all three to ChatGPT through Xero’s official integration.
Please expand that existing connection so authorised users can:
- Access and examine receipts, supplier invoices and supporting documents attached to individual transactions.
- Search detailed transaction histories across all accounts, including payees, dates, descriptions, amounts and accounting categories.
- Retrieve complete general ledger information and analyse expenditure across different periods.
- Compare accounting entries with their supporting documents to help identify possible mistakes, duplicate payments, incorrect VAT treatment and unusual expenditure.
- Carry out detailed financial analysis through ordinary conversational questions, without manually exporting spreadsheets.
My main priority is read-only access, with appropriate security, authorisation and existing user permissions respected. Any changes to accounting records must require my explicit approval.
At Mellor Nook, we attach receipts or supporting documents to virtually every transaction. Being able to ask ChatGPT to examine a particular payment, inspect its receipt and explain whether the accounting entry appears consistent would be extremely valuable. Findings should link back to the relevant Xero records and documents for human review.
This would help small businesses that cannot justify employing their own finance department. The request is to improve Xero’s existing official ChatGPT connection.
