  1. I would like to visualise how draft bills and invoices affect my cashflow, something which I know is not possible at the moment. This would allow me to predict how multiple open quotes & projects could affect my financing requirements. Could this be added in future?

Hi team, we appreciate interest through this idea and would like to update that this can be achieved within the new Analytics cash flow manager tool. Cash flow manager allows you to select which draft invoices or draft bills you want to include in your cash flow view.

Draft bills and invoices are deselected by default, but you can manually toggle to include them.

  2. Hi Xero Support,

So basically, I would like to generate P&L by Tracking Category only for those categories which have activity during the month, those which have no activities (zero transaction), I would like to exclude it. So, my reports will be not too long and comprehensive.

    QuickBooks has this function (--)v

Hi Budi, perhaps related to how you've set the report up however this is already possible with the 'Compare tracking categories' selection. For example if you select 10 tracking options to compare in your Profit & Loss and there is no activity for 2 of your tracking options within the period these columns will be excluded when the report is run.

  3. We require a bridging letter to the SOC Type 2 report to cover the period 1 November 2023 to 30 June 2024 for audit purposes. When querying Support I was referred back to the generic link to download the above report. How do I obtain a bridging letter for the remaining period?

Sorry we've not updated you here sooner, Alison. Since you initially started the idea here we've published an updated SOC2 report that supersedes the period you mentioned. If you need any further help with this, I'd recommend coming back into our Xero Support team they should be able to help you further. 😊

  4. Currently, when preparing financial statements or other reports in Xero, you have to export the report to PDF to work out if you will need to insert page breaks to keep all related content on one page, or to ensure that a heading doesn't end up on one page and the information on the next. This can sometimes mean exporting a report multiple times if there are multiple page breaks required.

It would be helpful if in the drafting stage, Xero reports showed some sort of indicator (i.e. a dotted line), so that you could identify where a page would…

Hi everyone! Today we released the new preview panel to all users 🥳

Any report that you can edit the layout of now has a PDF preview on the right of the screen. You'll be able to instantly see how any changes you're making to your reports will be reflected (including page breaks).

We thoroughly appreciate the input and feedback we've received from customers which has helped refine this end result. Thank you

  5. It would be great to have the ability to run a report to show any bank transactions reconciled on a given date i.e any bank transactions that were reconciled on 7 August 2024, rather than clicking into individual transactions to see the audit trail

Hi Beth, appreciate it's been a little while since you first raised your idea here. This is actually already possible with the History & notes report.

If you set the date as you need, then in the Search bar type 'Reconciled'. This will quickly group and show you a list of the transactions that have been reconciled for that period, along with a few details of the reconciliation.

  6. Transaction/summary report for suppliers but showing history in aged format, to be able to report on what we;ve spent with a supplier for the last 12 months - Each month!

Xero really need to look at producing a report generator like sage had, so we can create any report we need.

  7. We would like to be able to capture non-financial (eg head count) and statistical numbers (eg Order Book) in Xero and add it into Xero reports alongside the existing financial information for management reporting
Currently it seems that accounts that are added automatically appear in the Chart Of Accounts.
Could another Account Type be created that allows memo accounts to be created outside the CoA?

Hey team! Thanks for engaging with us about your needs in being able to add non-financial data in to Xero to help with tracking and reporting.

While not within individual reports themselves, we'd love to share how this can now be achieved with Xero Analytics.

We've introduced an External Data tool that allows you to input non-financial data. You can then use this data in custom metric calculations, from the Business Health Scorecard section, and/or visualise this non-financial data on your Analytics Dashboard. 😊

  8. You heartily pat yourself on the back for a job well done in the latest blog post re: product updates, while missing the point completely.

Cool, you now hide empty notes in the financials automatically, but you DON'T recast the numbering of the notes, so I still have to go through and click '...' -> 'Hide' anyway.

Looking at the Balance Sheet before doing this the numbering goes:
    - 2
    - 3
    - 5
    - 15

Not very professional now, is it.

Thanks for feeding back on this with us here, Paul. We appreciate that you'd like Xero to auto renumber notes on screen where they are automatically hidden in report templates. While there is a bit of complexity in being able to do this, our team have ensured Xero will automatically renumber notes on any published or exported documents, keeping your reports consistent and professional.

  9. In the old reports there was a bank report, (Detailed Account Transaction Report) that you could pull up the bank account and it would show the bank entries and where they had been coded. This is not longer available. Alternatively, could the code be added to the Bank reconciliation page where it shows the entries.

  12. When editing a report in the financial statements, it would be great if there was an option to preview just that page and not the whole document. Ie if editing balance sheet , have the option to open a pdf of just that page ( but keep the whole doc on a sept PDF- so two options)
Would just be so much faster to preview the actual page I'm working on, and not having to wait for the whole document to open, than scroll/find the bal sheet

Thanks for all your contributions and feeding back to the team on your needs in this space. I'm pleased to share that we have now released our new preview panel to all users.

When you open the layout editor of a report you'll see PDF preview of your report on the right hand side, so you can see how changes you're making to your report impact it 'on the fly'. 🥳

  13. Ability to close and lock a period for accounting and reporting purposes to ensure that, once figures are reported and published, those figures do not change. Any necessary changes (VAT rates, corrections etc) to source documents could be made but the impact should fall in the current, open period.

Hi team, returning to the idea here there are a few separate asks being raised. As mentioned in my last update on the idea here - currently for reporting purposes you can Publish report to keep a record of accounts at an as at date in the system. Alternatively to stop transactions being raised in past periods there are the existing lock date options.

We have separate ideas for the recording a posting versus invoice date and another for setting separate tax and accounting period lock dates that I'd recommend adding your votes for if this is more what you're after.

  14. Good morning,

I am preparing a set of financials in Xero Reports for a client. One thing I find that takes up time is when the financials have limited account items, and I still need to use the Notes to the Financial Statements.

To save time it would be great if we could delete multiple empty notes at once instead of using the time-consuming process of pressing the three dots and deleting or hiding them individually.

    Many thanks.

Thanks for your interactions with the team, Tim. I wanted to round back to confirm for everyone here that we've now added some automation to Report Templates, so now any 'empty' schedules will automatically be hidden when publishing or exporting the reports from Xero Blue. 😊

  15. Add the following to reports:
Supplier Activity Statement to compare with the statement received from your suppliers.
Alternatively - enable a Customer and Supplier DETAILED LEDGER as per usual accounting practice. This should be standard within Xero.

Hi all, with no response from my last update we are going to shift this to delivered with the ability to run the Aged Payable or Receivable Detail reports where you can set the Ageing periods to be Day, Week or Month based on your choosing. If needed you can also filter these reports by Contact.

For ageing periods on a customer's statement -  we have an idea for this that we've shared on and to be upfront we don't have any plans in the foreseeable future.

Supplier statements have been discussed on a different idea. However, we want to be upfront this isn't planned.

Hi team, appreciate your feedback of improvements we could make to the Budget Summary to help you here. We've recently released a new Budget Summary report, and you'll find within the new report there's a Total column!

If this doesn't automatically appear for you, just click the More option to select 'Total' and re run the report. 🙂

  17. Custom Reports: It would be great to be able to add a formula row in the custom reports that can display as a percentage. For example GP% and NP%
Or just have the ability to add a GP% and NP% row.

Hi everyone, pleased to share that an option to allow formula rows to be displayed as a percentage has now been added to the Layout Editor of all reports!

We know the meaning of this feature to our customers and appreciate your engagement with us through product ideas. Thanks 😊

  18. Being able to click on the summary page to show what is entered in that field would be good or a drop down box on the BAS summary page. Having to scroll through sales to get to the expenses is time consuming.

Hi team, coming back over the idea here I wanted to share an update. While it's not possible to expand the fields to view transactions on the Summary page of the BAS, from the Transactions tab you can simply use the Filter on the top right of the table to choose select which field/s of the BAS you want to view transactions for. 🙂

Apologies we've not updated this idea sooner, and thanks for engaging us in Product Ideas. We welcome your feedback in response to our update. Thanks

  20. Can we please have the report codes shown & editable on the chart of accounts page, and also through the actual reports?

    Reasons for the request:
    1. It is a logical workflow to specify how an account is to be reported when setting it up
    2. It saves having to view the report, realise a report code needs correction and then having to close the report to do this, if you can drill down straight from the report as displayed.
    3. As the account balance is shown on the Chart of Accounts page, it makes it clearer which accounts actually…

Hi team, we hear you and appreciate the feedback to our last update. I'm pleased to share that now along with the previous update of the ‘Report code’ column to the Chart of Accounts page, we have also just added a button to the main Chart of Accounts screen 'Edit Report Code Mappings' which takes Xero practice users directly to the report code mapping screen.

Taking it that next step to make it easier for practice users to update report codes for new and amended accounts in the chart of accounts. Thanks for all your support in this.
