  1. Xero aged payables- the old reports were much clearer and useful.
    We would like to be able to set the report so we can have the dates along the top and invoice date rather than having to go in every time and have to manually change it. It has become quite laborious.

    Hi everyone, this is actually already possible through the use of the Payable and Receivable Invoice Summary and detail reports. 


    You can adjust the filters of the report to only select Overpayment, Prepayment and Credit note Source items, as well as set the Status so you only view Draft and Approved items. 

    Once set up Save as custom, so you can easily access this view anytime. 🙂

  3. When using the new version of the P & L and selecting the Compare Tracking category option, would it be possible to build in a function where the report only shows items with any activity in the selected period, rather than showing everything?

    We've made a recent change to the way you can view Tracking in the newer Profit & Loss! We appreciate the efficiency users found in being able to compare tracking across categories with the older reports and have uplifted this in the newer version.

    You'll now see the option to ‘Compare by tracking categories’ on the screen when you open the new Profit & Loss.

    When selecting tracking categories, if there has not been any activity within your selected report dates you will not see a column for this shown in the results when the report is run - This is part of the releases mentioned last month in “A sneak peek into what’s next for reports in Xero

  4. Payable Invoice Detail reports - Ability to Filter VAT Rate Name and VAT Rate (as one can in Receivables)

    In the Receivable Invoice Detail Report, the filters include both the "VAT Rate Name" and "VAT Rate". These are not currently available in the Payable Invoice Detail Report, but would greatly assist anyone trying to reconcile the figures in this report with those shown on the VAT Return. As such it is essential to ensure that the figures submitted in Box 7 of the VAT Return are accurate.

  5. Customer Invoice Report is being retired but there is no equivalent new Report to provide a list of Invoices issued. This report is essential for monitoring invoices issued and payments received where the Xero subscription is for a non GST cash book.

    Hey Jill, the Receivable Invoice Detail and Summary reports have been set up with new common formats and filters that should replicate most of the functionality in the old reports.

    For example, to view all your paid Invoices within a specific date range, you can run the Receivable Invoice Detail report with a filter for "Last payment date".

  6. Business owners need to see the P&L and the Cash in one place. Please combine the P&L and the Statement of Cash Flows into one report so they can be viewed together.

    This is how it is in professional 3 statement financial models: P&L with Cash flows directly below.

    Providing a combo report would save many hours in combining them manually!

  7. The font size for Xero reports has increased - great - much easier for clients to read their annual accounts. However, when Exporting to PDF from the Draft reports, it previews it in the default size, which is often the wrong size. In order to preview the reports as they will print, you have to publish the report, note where you need to move/add page breaks, then delete the published report and go back into the draft report to make those layout changes. This adds an extra 5 minutes or so on to every job which is not necessary.

    Thanks for the support and interest in this change, everyone. While it may not be obvious, for Xero Partners or staff connected to a Practice there's an option to adjust and change the font size of your reports by selecting 'Styled PDF' when exporting new reports from Xero - Detail here will help in setting & managing  your Report Styles.

    If not already you use Advisor Connect to find a Xero Partner that can meet your business needs.

  8. We need a running total added within each supplier to these reports as it is very frustrating when trying to balance to supplier statements or allocate a payment.

  9. The old journal report allowed one to search for Manual Journals, the new report does not; it would be invaluable to drill down into the new journal report to search manual journals only :-)

  10. I'd like to create some customised reports for particular costs and wondered if there's any option to just report on some costs of the business without having to lump all the other ones somewhere

On the new reports the cents are always off and when you are reconciling the bank to me as a bookkeeper you want to cents to be included and not having to tick an extra button to say please include. I have noticed the reports have been geared towards accountants and not bookkeepers as all my reports have cents on them however the bank reconciliation report it's just doesn't make sense to me. Or if you could set in your set ups to always include cents and then this stays that way in the entire Xero file that would be…

  13. Could we please have an update on Manual Journals, so if you extract the Journal report it would so the narration/ description we add the each line of the journal report.
    Also if we can print PDF a specific journal so it flows well with the above information

    Hi Navisha, our team have been making lots of development with Xero's new reports. 

    Yesterday we released the new Journal report where you'll find you can add both Narration & Description as separate columns in this report. 

    Once set up, you can export the report to PDF, Excel or Google Sheets 😁

  14. It would be really useful if the journal report could be filtered on posted date as well as transaction date, currently they can just be filtered by posting date.

    That way you could quickly highlight transactions that were posted in a period, after a certain point like a VAT return submitted or trial balance exported for accounts preparation.

    Thanks for your idea here, Adam. Our reporting team have just release a new version of the Journal report where you'll find this is now possible!

    Along with more detail, you'll find there's the ability to Filter by any column added, including Posted Date 😁

    When we export the management accounts of the companies, the currency is never mentioned which is not convenient.
    It would be great to add the currency on these documents as we have a lot of currencies.

    Hi all, coming back in to confirm that as of today you'll find you can now run the Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet and Budget Variance reports in currencies the org has been using, and you'll be able to select and see the currency the report is run in at the top in the report settings. 😁

    If there are other specific reports you'd like to see this developed in please do start a new idea in the site here and we can get a feel for the interest in each of these, too. Thanks!

  16. Aged Payables Report
    This new report defaults to todays date, and you cannot create a template that defaults to the end of the current month. I need this report to show the actual invoices owing, as if I use today's date it shows invoices owing that I have already sent to my bank for payment at the end of the month. The old report worked great and defaulted to the month, but it would be great if this was an option for the new report.

    Hey everyone - Just a quick update to let you know we’ve tweaked the default date picker on this report 😊

    Now, if you open the Aged Payables, the date will default to the end of the month, and not today’s date - replicating the behaviour of the old version.

  17. Can you please sort accounts within a "group" on the P&L / Balance sheet as alphabetical? Currently they are random it and looks unprofessional

    Hi Tara, to offer flexibility users can drag & drop accounts to change the order of where they appear in Financial reports (including within a group) through the Layout editor

    Being open we don't intend to create an auto ordering feature with this option available.

    Hi team, not long since my last update we have now gone live with our new Journal report in Xero. 😁

    Thanks again for your engagement in community, here.  

    As noted earlier, with the new version of this report along with more detail and abilities to sort and filter you'll find 'Description is now a column that can be included and filtered by in this report! 

  19. I have multiple bank accounts in Xero in which I reconcile payments to the same Chart of Account. I would like to be able to run a report which shows me how much logged against a particular Chart of Account came from each bank account. While at the moment it will show you this in the report it will not total it meaning I have to export to excel and add another step.

  20. It would be very useful to be able to create Account Transaction reports for individual or grouped bank accounts that show detailed descriptions and split transactions and which account (chart of accounts) each item in the split transaction is allocated to.

    You can already do this in the Account Transactions report, Ann. 

    You can select to add Description and Related account as columns so you can see the detail and account each line was coded too.
