Reporting - Include journal ID
Include the unique transaction ID (from the Journal Report) on other reports including Account Transactions / General Ledger reports / Project reports / Inventory Item Details report.
Purpose: So we can easily see which transactions have gone through since the last month end / close, as the transaction ID's are unique and incremental. We cannot rely on the dates of transactions as invoices will come in with old dates which will appear like they were posted in a previous month, but are a new transaction. I believe having the transaction ID's on reports will be a significant improvement for the functionality of reporting from Xero.
Thank you all for your support and feedback to the idea here. We now have the new General Ledger Detail report that includes the option to add Journal ID as a column in the report live to you all!
Within the report itself you'll be able to rearrange columns to drag and drop this where you'd like it to sit in your report, and once you have set up how you like save as a Custom report to access this format whenever you need. 😁

Would like to try out now in the testing phase @kelly. It should show Journal ID with drilling down profit or loss statement as well.

Q1 Is this just journal id's or ALL transaction id's? (unique internal identifiers) (mainly needed as can then spot new ones since last report as Xero does not include an entered/change date on general reporting)
Q2 Will this be a similar report to the existing accounting transactions report which is my key report?

Seeing a transaction ID would also assist when there are multiple transactions on the same date with the same amount and you need to find one in particular.

Not showing journal ID in general ledger is extremely shocking that I could not believe it. That is like minimum that I would expect from any general ledger. I almost turned away from Xero because of not having this. Even very old systems with extremely limited features will have this function. This point made me think that Xero is not actually "bookkeeping" focused but more business focused.

Customise journal report - would like to edit/ create a different layout to this report, would be beneficial if report showed in an excel format - for example:
Journal nr. Document Date Document nr. Tax rate % Local account nr. Account name Balance Period (LCY) Booking Text

This would be really useful where there are a lot of transactions. Would also be good to see the journal numbers on the list of posted manual journals. It is something clients have asked for.

To show the Journal ID in the General Ledger Report.
Purpose: To make the document filing easier, and an auditor can search the supporting document and journal easier.
