  1. IDEA - CIS suffered report to calculate the CIS suffered correctly.

ISSUE - If you apply a credit note to an invoice that has both CIS labour and CIS materials, Xero does not calculate the CIS suffered correctly. Even though the credit note is coded to the correct nominal code, Xero doesn't recognise this. This causes the CIS suffered report to reduce the deduction amount which is incorrect. This means the figure you submit to HMRC is lower than it should be. Meaning less of a refund of CIS suffered than it actually should be.

  2. With the old GST return layout, you used to be able to add a note on the return as to why you made an adjustment, can this be bought back please

  3. Hi team

We need Xero to be able to calculate tax correctly on part year returns for clients in Xero tax. Even though the date fields are available in your returns to show a part year, the tax is still calculated for a full year so the assessment from IRD differs from the return prepared in XPM.

Currently the only option is to file via myIR which is really not good enough.

Hi team, we appreciate the interest in being able to manage part year returns through Xero Tax for NZ. This isn't something we have in our plans at present.

I can assure you our team are aware of the interest on this idea and if there's any progress we'll let you know through the idea here.

  4. I would like the GST AUDIT REPORT to be permanently updated, so that the transaction SOURCE FIELD would be included in the report. Otherwise the report should be customisable to include this and many other fields / options, so any of us professionals and internal accountants can extract what we need to review client / business BAS data easier, and lodge the BAS's quicker. There are MANY ideas for the GST AUDIT report to be customisable and several are also relevant to me and my needs, but I couldn't find a request for this one and it is such an…

  5. We would like the ability to transfer a GST refund to another tax payer. It can be done if we file online at IR and we would like Xero's GST return to file automatically with this feature. We have associated groups and have refunds that we want to offset against another tax payers GST to pay.

  6. Reviewing VAT Returns

I don't know if it is just me, but when I am reviewing VAT returns and looking at the transactions, as I scroll down the screen I can lose track of what VAT rate I am looking at if there are lots of transactions.

Would it be possible to add a column or a header that states the VAT rate on the transaction schedule that remains visible on the screen as you scroll?

Scrolling up and down to check or locate specific VAT Rates wastes a lot of time.

    Thanks

    Sarah

  7. VAT In the VAT boxes you have to "adjust" the figure rather than entering the relevant amount. Why can't you just enter the figure and move on. It would be much easier. Also you can't delete what you've done in a box or re-start the entire return. In my view it makes Xero a sub-standard product.

  8. Where have the GST due dates gone from the new GST Return layout?

Also would it be viable for Xero to default no GST for transactions up to a certain date considering some businesses are registered from any point during a month.

  9. Please include a "GST Calculation Worksheet" in the Activity Statement report for the new BAS experience based on the same format of the GST Calculation Worksheet which is included with the previous BAS experience.

Appreciate the feedback on the use you found with the previous worksheet.

With the newer BAS while there is no GST calculation worksheet, you can run a Custom Date report to get YTD figures, which can be accessed through the Activity Statement dashboard.

Being open we don't have plans of adding the worksheet to the new BAS report at this stage, however we'll continue to get a sense of interest on this here and share if there's any change.

  10. When a client changes their GST taxable periods (e.g. 2-monthly to 6-monthly filing) they often need to file a return for a non-standard number of months to align with their balance date (e.g. 4-month GST return). It would be nice to be able to change the GST period settings in Xero to allow for the non-standard GST return to be filed directly from Xero.

  11. NZ GST - Why does the Late claims tab now show all adjustments made - even those with no GST on them. I only want to see the ones affecting the GST.

  13. VAT Only Transactions - Xero to remove needless restriction to have VAT amount less than line total. This will allow posting zero net with VAT amount to 20%EXP VAT code with a total equal to the VAT total without having to reply on VAT on imports tax code.

Hi community, we don't have any plans to remove change the behaviour here. However, to confirm you can enter a 100% VAT invoice and we have an article that details how to do this. Essentially, you'll enter the invoice using two transaction lines, which when followed will:

    • Show a 100% VAT total on the invoice
    • Have 0.00 effect on the account code balance.

Please note that both lines will show on the invoice PDF.

  14. For the existing Tax & reporting tile on the dashboard, it would be good if the Activity Statement included an indicator for when the next one is ready to be prepared and submitted.

  15. Xero calculates VAT on a line by line basis and rounds up at every instance. This leads to the VAT amount sometimes being more than a few pennies over the top of what it should be.

I propose that Xero calculates VAT to 3 decimal places, which will mostly eliminate this over payment to the VAT man and overcharging our customers. Or it only calculates VAT at the end of the invoice.

  16. Create an out of scope vat code as strictly speaking this is not actually any of the other codes that already exist despite being advised to use them.

  17. VAT 126 - small local authorities can reclaim all VAT. To do so they need to submit a 126 schedule, which is not currently available within Xero. The problem is that the supplier's VAT number cannot be included in transaction reports.
The ability to produce the VAT 126 schedule would make Xero a very good option for the many parish and small town councils.

  20. I am a sole trader. I started using Xero to see how it helped with my taxes. The road has been... rocky. Largely because Xero largely ignores soletraders and their specific needs.

For instance, Xero has no IR3 reports (NZ IRD) set up that we can use.

And we can't have depreciation amounts at the same time as accounts in a report.

We also can't limit which accounts appear in a report.

For me, as a sole trader, I have wound up with personal and business expenses and income mixed in my bank accounts. I have also created personal accounts…
