I share my frustration with all the other users. This has to be one of the simplest updates to implement. I can't even imagine any downsides to showing all the text. It may only be a handful of us commenting on this issue, but I would bet everything that a vast majority of users would appreciate the fix.

If you ACTUALLY appreciated the feedback, you would do something about it. It's infuriating that this is still not something that Xero considers to be a priority. I've been following and contributing to this thread since 2022 and the best we have been able to get from Xero is "...well, no, but maybe in the future...?" Why won't you listen to your customers? This is such a simple ask - its just a display tweak!

It blows my mind that this has not been implemented yet. It's such a simple fix from a development point of view, to surface that field in the place that it is needed by so many.

We put this request in several years ago, seems redundant to keep asking if no interest in 'what people want'

Thank you for the update - but this really does need updating. I train many clients on using Xero and it is something that they all feedback to me. It would make reconciling most jobs so much easier.

I hate having to click on this hyperlink to see any reasonable information when reconciling my transactions. There is a lot of whitespace in that box that is not being used. At a minimum, please use all of the whitespace to show as much of the Reference field as possible. More desirable would be to extract the meaningful bits and display it for the summary.

I would love to see on the bank statement what the purchase was for, due to i often use PayPal, and then have to go into each of the bank transactions details to find out what was purchased, if there is line for that in the statements, it would be so much easier to find what you are looking for, it is not always you remember the amount.

It would be great if we could see all the details at once when reconciling bank transactions, without having to click on "more details" for the description. Having to do that is time-consuming and could be streamlined.

It would be really helpful if we could resize or expand the description box in the Bank Reconciliation tab.

Currently, the statement description is truncated, and it’s difficult to read the full transaction details without clicking “More details.” There’s still a lot of unused space on the screen, so allowing the column or box to be adjustable or expandable would make reviewing and reconciling transactions faster and more efficient.

Can Xero please upgrade this block on the Bank Accounts / Reconcile to show more details in the block before needing to click on “More Details”. Especially for most banks have the ACB CREDIT PAYMENT before having the reference/description on statement.
This will be very helpful.

Improve Reconciliation and Match Rule efficiency: show complete Statement Line Reference field.

Currently just the first 2-4 words are shown. Details needed for quick use of Match Rules "OK" button are buried--requires clicking "more details" on each statement line, plus another click or Esc key to hide pop-up details window if "OK" button not used.

Crazy that this is still an issue, it's such a simple UI fix that will enable people to reconcile far faster and the process not be so "clunky" and software restrictive.

I'd appreciate if the button for 'more details' in bank rec was simply a toggle - so click to see (often invoice number is still hidden) then click to hide again (has to be rehidden because the dialogue box covers other transactions). This would be much faster than having to either relocate the mouse to the X or use the esc key.

On the reconcile screen please display the whole bank transaction details rather then just the first 19 digits.There's a whole browser screen to utilise so please please help us not have to click more details to simply see what the transaction is!! Huge time saver. Then we can scroll down and find the one we need.

How there is still no way to add a reference on the Reconcile screen under "Create" tab is mind blowing to me.
When you have hundreds of transactions that need references, having to click on on "add details" for each one is incredibly time consuming.
PLEASE add the reference field under or next to the "Why" field.

I fully support this idea. I am incredibly disappointed to see that this suggestion goes back at least as far as 2019 and still has not been implemented. The amount of time this very simple change would save is enormous, not to mention the frustration it would solve also. The current display is the opposite of user-friendly and this basic update would reverse that.

100%. We are getting so clever with AI, yet the basic things we are making harder for ourselves. This would be such a simple update I would think.
