Notifications - Option to ask User "are you sure you want to delete transaction?"
When editing a transaction, if the user clicks the delete button, have an option to ask user, "are you sure you want to delete the transaction?"
Thanks for sharing this idea đŸŒŸ We can see how an extra confirmation step before deleting a transaction could help prevent accidental deletions and give users more confidence when making changes.
We’re moving this idea to Gaining Support so we can better understand how many customers would value this and the different scenarios where it would be most useful. If this would make a difference for your workflow, please keep the votes and examples coming as they help our product team assess the impact.
We’ll continue to monitor the feedback here and share any updates as we learn more.

And with the changes to Files, if you delete a transaction the attachment is gone forever too.

It would be great if there was an extra prompt to confirm when deleting attachments from purchases/sales. Currently you only have to press the 'x' and the document is removed and there is no way to undo this if it is pressed accidently. If it prompted you to accept the delete you could say no and avoid this issue.

Also with it being next to edit transaction. you would think a warning pop up should be added when you click remove and redo

This really needs to happen. Not having a verification modal is poor UI

100%!!!!
It is SO easy to accidentally hit the delete icon. We transferred an important document from our old invoicing system to a contact account. Then when someone accidentally deleted it a year later, we had to PAY to get access to our old invoicing system in order to retrieve it.
We should be able to feel more secure with our documents Xero! -

This is a great idea. I had this idea yesterday when training a client on Xero and had to warn them about removing and redoing things and making sure they get the attachments before. They shouldnt have to. They should just have a pop up with the option to delete the attachment or move it to file library.

Agree.
Preview button is too close to trash icon.
Trash icon needs 'Are you sure' pop up is needed.
Please fix this. -

I accidentally deleted the attached file for a contact when I attempted to click the preview. The trash can icon is directly next to the Preview link and it was an error on my part. However, once I clicked the trash can icon, the file was gone. Since I am the bookkeeper, I had to contact my client to have them re-attach the file to the contact record. It would be very helpful if there was a 2nd click to confirm a delete or move the delete option away from the preview option.

Needs 'Are you sure' pop up for Deleting Contact Files
Its too easy to accidentally delete a file attached to a Contact. Needs to be an 'Are you sure you want to delete ...' pop up when deleting.
Especially as it also doesn't populate in the history/notes section that anything has been deleted. -

I can't believe this doesn't have more votes.
I have just fallen foul of this. With 30+ years' experience in software and database design & development, I can say that this seems unbelievable incompetence to delete user data (most likely prime documents too as highlighted by Jo) without warning. Surely all that is needed is for Xero to move any attached documents back into the file library before removing.

When selecting Remove and Redo for Spend transactions, all attachments are lost.
If the attachments are receipts that were photographed using the Xero app, they are not kept on the Xero app either.
This means that selecting Remove and Redo is the same as throwing the original receipt in the shredder, not just in the bin to potentially be retrieved later.
A pop-up warning asking if you'd like to save the attachments to the File Library before removing and redoing would avoid the loss of the transaction's supporting documentation.
