Bank Reconciliation: Automatically recognise and remove duplicate statement lines
Imported bank statements - propose for Xero to spot "duplicate" transactions as to remedy this situation I had to process a large number of lines one by one across a number of different accounts
6 votesHI everyone, returning to the idea here we're going to move this to Not planned. However, we understand wanting to ensure the accuracy of your bank statements and reconciliations in Xero.
As mentioned in my last update - Xero won't automatically delete duplicate statement lines for you, however you can run the Duplicate statement lines report to help identify and remove duplicates, so you can choose which of the statement lines in your bank account you'd like to keep and reconcile.
There is also the Statement exceptions report in the Bank Reconciliation report pack that'll show where statement lines have been deleted in an account due to being a duplicate.

Cash coding - Overpayments
As an accounts practice, we are looking to reconcile bank in timely manner, and not particularly concerned about supplier payment allocations against particular invoices. Therefore we would like to see cash coding option for Advisor to allocate purchase invoice payments against supplier account as overpayment, as we would be reconciling supplier balances after bank is all allocated. We would then reconcile overpayments in each individual supplier account.

Uncoded statement lines report - Common date formats e.g last month, last quarter, last year
Some xero reports can be run by last month, last quarter, last financial year etc. The above report can only be run by entering specific dates. Could this report have the same pre set date options added? This would be useful for client query lists for monthly/ quarterly BAS Returns, annual accounts/ tax returns etc

Bank Rules - Ability to set defaults for steps of Create rule
When adding a bank rule is it possable to change
No 5 Add rule details to deault to "all accounts" rather than the account you are currently in
A rule set up for fuel will be the same allocation no matter what bank account you are in
Where do you chande the system defaults?3 votesHi Greg, while there's no way to set your own defaults for Bank Rules in Xero.
The existing default will differ depending on where you start the Create rule flow.
- If you're in the process of reconciling your account (via the Reconcile screen or Cash coding) the default for '5. Add rule details > Run this rule on' is the bank account you were reconciling
- On the other-hand if you Create rule from the Bank rules screen, this'll default to 'All bank accounts'
While this isn't something we have plans for at present. Appreciate how you'd like to set up a default regardless of where you start this and have adjust the title of your idea, here and we'll keep an eye on the support for this.

Reconciliation | Cash coding "Split" - Option to Save and Reconcile
It would be great once you have split a transaction that rather than just clicking on save and being returned to the Cash coding screen to click on reconcile, than you could have an option to click Save & Reconcile so that the transaction is coded and reconciled all in the one screen and then it returns you to your Cash coding screen

Bank rules - Ability to assign Billable Expense
Banks Rules - Add Billable Expense
This will save the company a lot of time having to manually set a billable expense when we need to on-charge a certain % of a recurring transaction

Bank Reconciliation - Ability to make bank rec turn green even when there's something in discuss tab
Find and match on bank rec to still go green when there is an entry on the discuss tab.
Currently the right hand side of the bank rec will only turn green if there is a possible match and nothing in the discuss tab. If there is something in the discuss tab it will not turn green even if there is a match.
It would be great if the border of the box still turned green whilst displaying the comment to indicate that there is a possible match to allow the user to review and ok the transaction.

Bank Rule - Ability to default to 'All conditions match'
Since the change to the updated Bank Rules page, it now defaults to 'Any Conditions Match'.
I have to change this to 'All Conditions Match' literally every. single. time. I create a bank rule, otherwise it defaults to matching almost all transactions.
This is a disaster waiting to happen.
11 votesThanks for sharing back on the change, Alan. It's difficult to make changes to suit everyone's needs, and changing the default from 'All' to 'Any' was carefully considered as part of the recent updates to Bank Rules.
This was something users told us would be helpful as many more users create 'loose' rules to capture more statement lines.
Currently there aren't any plans to change this back. What would be more useful would be the ability to set your own default, but for now we'll begin to track the interest of this here.

Cash coding - Keyboard shortcut for "Payee"
Cash coding currently has a keyboard shortcut to copy the nominal above, which is great..... Please can we have a keyboard shortcut made for the "Payee" that works in the same way as I often alphabetically sort these so it would be a huge time saver.

Xero Accounting app - Bank reconciliation - allow foreign currency payments to be reconciled
Xero allows invoices to be created in a foreign currency (with the premium subscription plan) but when clients make these payments (which get converted to the base currency) they are not able to be reconciled in the Xero app as both the currency and amount are different so they don’t match.
On the web, there is an option that can be unchecked to show foreign currency items, which then allows the payment to be reconciled. In my case it is ‘show NZD items only’.
A similar item would ideally be added to the Xero app so those paid in a…

Bank accounts - Note sections for accounts
It would be useful to have some sort of 'notes' section within each bank account. We have several bank accounts for various purposes (mostly to use as 'savings' for various tax liabilities (for example, corporation tax, VAT etc)-but it would be useful, for managing cash and future liabilities to have a notes section to keep track of what is due and when, rather than having to do either run a VAT return or P+L every time I need to remind myself and how much needs to be put aside.

Reconciliation | Find & Match - Payruns and superannuation payments
The purpose of this development would be to add the wages payable & superannuation payable entries to the Match, Find & Select menu. This would allow you to see the payrun for the week or superannuation processed by the program and match as appropriate.
The purpose of this development would be to allow users to see the payment and the actual information processed in Xero and potentially correct issues (e.g. reduce potential underpayment of superannuation/wages at point of reconciliation instead of months later).

Bank Reconciliation - Option to not remember last comment
Have a tick option to remember old comment OR not remember for the bank rec. Otherwise people are just going to ignore and use the same comment every time they reconcile a similar transaction, even if it's not valid. Nice to apply this just to comments vs forgetting coding.

Reconcile - Create transaction without generating a new contact
Currently a new supplier is created in your contact list every time a transaction is made which results in too many contacts considering there could be very small items of spend at multiple stores on card etc. I only want to see key repeating suppliers in my contact list.
16 votesHi team, the Payable Invoice reports will generally help you zone into your top repeating suppliers and better view activity.
As suggested, if multiple contacts of a similar nature are being created merge may also help you manage these in your contacts list.
It'd be good to understand if there are other needs that this idea would help you with here - please do share any detail.

Bank report - Date last reconciled
Can we have a report showing the last date of bank reconciliation completed for clients?
This would be beneficial for me, listed by clients but also for the client.
4 votesHi Renu, you could run the History & Notes to see the last date of reconciliation in an org. If you search for 'reconciled ' this'll help you zone into the action if there's a lot of activity - See my image below.
Alternatively, you may find the Assurance dashboard useful where you can get a view of user activity and Bank Account activity.

Cash coding - Ability to add invoices to cash coding
When you are in cash coding it would be useful to be able to add an invoice to the line before it is reconciled.
If clients do not use the bills function then attaching an invoice to a transaction is time consuming and fiddly.15 votesHi Simon, checking in on your idea here. Would this be to be able to view invoices that have been entered (like Find & Match) or to create invoices from cash coding?
- Don't see your idea?
