I would like to see the ability to group or package items together for a single line item with custom description. As I am growing my business, I am finding that this will be most helpful so I can have a line item that incorporates many products into 1 product but have the ability to track or see how much is being sold individually as many products will be in different packages.

It is critical to group all the items in 'Product and Services'. Mainly can separate into two, what we sell and what we buy (as how we tick when add a new item) . Then the product we sell can be grouped based on function and description, the items we buy can be grouped by the supplier's name. Hopefully this feature could be updated as soon as possible

We are getting business mentoring from a very successful local business and the first thing he wanted was to see our product groups so we can assess how each part of the business is performing.
Apparently he is used to using software that has this. Is Xero likely to give us this basic functionality soon?

It seems like such a fundamental requirement for sales reporting & analysis, I cannot understand why such a simple to implement feature is lacking.

Products especially clothing needs to have categories so products are easier to find at all times. Such a shame that you haven't included this in your software. If you want to be competitive you need to look at what works for your competitor and include this. So many things are missing that are needed.

Can't understand why you can't filter, sort and group Products & Services as they are such a core element of a business. Seems very basic and should be quick to add.
Shame people have been asking for it for 2 years and no sign of it yet.
I'm evaluating Xero at present and not sure I want to carry on with it. The experience has not been great.

product grouping is critical

Using the same principle of Groups that is already in place for the contacts page, can we have this option for products?
Being able to filter the products list down to a category first, and then searching within that shorter list would be very helpful.

Being able to click + and create new product would also be a nice feature.

This would be a great feature to keep things organised and easy to view, in the meantime there are the following work arounds:- ensure that one column has a category name included. If you include this in the item code column then all items with that name will be automatically grouped together albeit still in alphanumeric order. For e.g. TS00001, TS for T-Shirts followed by item code. Otherwise just clicking the column heading will rank the entire list according to the contents of that particular column.

Inventory Grouping is a great idea! Similar concept to Grouping Contacts.
