melio
Make Melio payments work as well in Xero as embedded bill.com payments used to work. ****, make it half as good.

Gregory, your observation is correct. I find it inexcusable that Xero couldn't at least mimic bill.com's very functional API. With embedded bill.com in Xero you had one point of truth for suppliers and paying bills, Xero. With Melio, you now need to maintain that information in both Melio and Xero. I tried to switch back to embedded bill.com and it's not an option. My advice to others....... do not be an early adopter. Wait as long as you can and hope Xero figures this out before you make the switch. I was naive in thinking Xero would have this dialed in. They do not.
Below is my support conversation so you don't waste your time asking:
I just switched from bill.com to melio in Xero. Is Melio going to read the suppliers banking information from Xero like bill.com did? Am I going to be required to re-enter banking information for each supplier? I made 1 payment to XXXXXX and had to re-enter the information already stored in Xero. Please tell me that's not the case. Did I just pay too quickly that the sync did not have time to do it's thing. Is it possible to go back so that bill.com can use the information already in Xero?

Any update on this? So we tried to pay bills today via check and the embedded Melio is not pulling the address information from the xero database either. Is it possible for us to go back to the embedded bill.com until the bugs are worked out of the melio embed?_________

Hi KentThanks for the follow up.
When you migrate from BILL to Melio, the vendors’ ACH bank details (routing and account numbers) do not come across.
Both platforms treat stored bank account information as highly sensitive and generally do not export it in a form another provider can import, for security and compliance reasons.
In Melio, bank details are set up directly in Melio when you first pay a vendor via ACH or when the vendor enters their information through Melio’s own flow, and then Melio stores it just for future Melio payments.
While we’ll handle migrating your vendor records and open bills, you’ll just need to provide bank details for each vendor one last time when you make your first payment in Melio. You can easily enter this yourself or send a secure invite/payment request for the vendor to enter it their end.
Once entered on the first payment to that vendor the ACH details will be stored.
Kind regards

Hrik,I understand. And I'm disappointed. I'd like to correct you on 1 point. Bill.com embedded in Xero did in fact pull any, and all, vendor information directly from Xero. The only place we ever entered bank information for ACH paid suppliers was in Xero. Melio can't even see the suppliers address in xero for suppliers being paid with a check. Bill.com embedded in Xero could.
The secure invite/payment request is a nice feature. Thanks for that. But overall, I think you got a lot wrong with the Melio integration into Xero and I'm disappointed.

I just added supplier banking and address info to my Xero contact records for bill.com's use a couple of months ago, but Melio is unable to pull those fields, and I have to keep multiple windows open to copy and paste that data so that Melio can pay via ACH or check? Not a great experience.
