  1. When entering a new stock item, there isn't an opening to enter opening stock.
We need to create the item first then enter the quantities in an adjustment tab.
It makes sense to make adjustments to items already created, but surely we should be able enter an opening stock value when creating an item, this would save us a lot of time.

Hi, thanks for sharing this idea about setting the opening stock for a tracked item at the same time you add it.

Now it's up to the community to get behind and support your idea with their votes and comments about how this would help them, too.

As for how this is currently done, as well as setting the item's starting Quantity on Hand, there needs to be an accounting record for where the existing Value comes from.

The current process is to add the item(s) as Tracked and then either:

    • Importing the opening balances for your tracked items. *This option is only for when you first start using Tracked Inventory in your organisation*.
    • Entering an approving a Supplier Bill to record the first purchase of the item.
    • Entering an Adjustment (Increase Quantity-type) to move the value from another account (the adjustment account) to the Inventory Asset Account.
  2. I have entered selling prices excluding GST but have noticed that some personnel have been invoicing inc GST yet xero hasn't adjusted the price of the item to add 10%. I need the item price to be the same either way of invoicing.

Can we make this happen some how ? so the price of the item is the same either way. MYOB manages to adjust it, you just set the price as either including or excluding and it adjusts it automatically when charged out. Maybe Xero should aim to improve this aspect of the program.

    Hi Kelly

Thanks for this suggestion. You're right that currently the tax inclusive/exclusive setting on the invoice would change the overall invoice total.

We've reviewed your idea and now it's up to the community to get behind and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Along with votes, other members can now comment to share additional detail about how your idea could improve their experience with Xero.

In the meantime, you might want to tell all staff to enter invoices with the same tax treatment, to avoid accidentally under/overcharging for the same item. If you create all invoices on a tax-inclusive basis, you can enter the default sales price for your items including GST. Otherwise, you would need to enter the prices excluding GST.

  3. From the people at Hike POS:
"We’d like to inform you that when a product is archived or removed in Xero, it does not automatically become inactive or get removed in Hike. This is due to API limitations on the Xero side that currently prevent this type of sync."

Please update you API to allow syncing of archive products.

  4. ABILITY TO AUTOMATICALLY CHANGE ITEM PRICE ON A SPECIFIC DATE

Obviously item prices vary and when we give customers notice of a price change, sometimes this is months in advance. Now I know I could add a note to the item, but seriously, this would mean checking the notes for every item which would become very tiresome + time consuming.
I would like the ability to be able to go into a line item and be able to change the price of the item on a specific date, so that it when that date comes the item price has automatically…

    Hi Kirstie

Thanks for sharing this idea about setting future prices for inventory items.

It's now up to the community to get behind and support your idea. Other members can now add their votes and comments about how this could also benefit them.

In the meantime, you'd need to edit the price at the relevant date, either manually or by exporting and importing your items if you need to update lots of prices at the same time.

  5. When looking up product history Xero lists what invoices product was sold on. It would also be nice to be able to see the customer's name. This would make things much easier when trying to look up pricing assigned to specific customers.

  6. I would like to use Mailerlite with stripe and xero to sell my products. When I log into stripe my products catalogue is empty. I need my products in stripe to be able to use the Mailerlite landing page to sell my products

    Hi!

Thanks for sharing this idea about synching inventory items between Xero and Stripe..

Now it's up to the community to get behind the idea and support it. Make sure you share your idea with any colleagues that this could benefit so they can add their vote too!

Along with votes, other members can now add their comments about how integrating inventory items between the two would also improve their experience.

  7. On the Xero mobile app, it would be great to be able to search Products & Services. If a customer wants a price on an inventory item, I have to create an invoice or quote, then add an item to see a price. A Product & Services link off the Dashboard would be very helpful.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your thoughts. We understand that accessing your inventory only when creating a transaction can be a bit limiting, especially if you want to quickly check stock or pricing.

Many of you have suggested having a dedicated Products & Services tab in the app so you can manage your list anytime, which sounds like a really useful addition.

Some of you currently use the mobile browser to access the full Products & Services menu, and while that works, having this directly in the app would make managing your business even easier.

I’ve moved this idea to Gaining Support so we can track interest and share it with our product teams. This helps us see how we can make managing your products smoother and more flexible.

  8. Ability to reserve inventory (through invoices or some other format) to account for pre-sales or consignment of goods

Purpose: Make some inventory reserved so it cannot be sold through other channels

Hi everyone, thanks sharing how important it is to be able to reserve inventory for pre-sales, or consignment.

We appreciate hearing your needs in setting stock aside before it’s invoiced, and in some cases working across multiple locations or warehouse setups.

We are currently in the process of releasing backorders capability which is designed to help tracked inventory users approve a sales invoice even when there isn’t enough stock available at the time. When that happens, the stock you do have available is allocated first, and the remaining quantity is placed on backorder. As more stock comes in, Xero will then automatically allocate it to the oldest approved backorders.

While this release doesn’t provide a way to reserve stock in advance for consignment, pre-orders, or particular customers and locations, it may still help some businesses that are currently needing to wait for stock to arrive before they can approve and…
