Thanks for the input and sharing your feedback here, everyone.
We know many of you asked for widget borders to help separate information. As a first step, we’ve subtly darkened the homepage background to increase contrast and make the widget boundaries clearer.
We’d love to know if this change has made the information easier for you to scan and consume. Please do let us know here 🙏🏻

Appreciate hearing your feedback on this here, Tania. I can assure you our teams did a lot of testing with all aspects of the homepage prior to it's rollout however we totally understand there are different views of what information would be most valuable, where. This is exactly the type of thing we're keen to hear and understand the appetite of through product ideas.
Just to confirm for everyone coming across this idea - While slightly changed in terms of placement it's possible to view Drafts for Invoices and Bills in their related Invoices owed to you, or Bills to pay widgets.
This is now found beneath the graph where you can click the 'x' drafts text to go straight to the list of draft invoices (or bills) - see image
We don't have any immediate plans for changing the placement of the Drafts link within the Invoices owed to…

I can't see what testing Xero did on the awful new home page: it is far too cluttered and too busy. To be honest I just ignore it and go to the index at the top and get to the sections I want that way so for me it is a total waste of time, well done Xero!

I hate the new look - it is too cluttered and too busy, I cannot see anything useful, I much preferred the old Dashboard, so much better (if not perfect)

Hi community, thank you for all the engagement and we can see the growing interest in improvements to help simplify your view of information on the new Homepage and navigate important information and insights with more ease.
Right now, our team have a few pieces of work underway intended to help with some of the pain points that have been raised here these include:
- More options for the sizing of widgets so you can reduce these frames and better position this information on your screen
- More customisation of information within a widget like being able to remove visuals
- Improving the experience of moving widgets when editing the homepage to make it more obvious when dragging and dropping them to different positions on the page
We’ve also roadmapped further changes for later this year, once everyone is on the new experience. I’ll share more updates as we progress.

I hate the new Home page. It is far too busy and I cannot see the wood for the trees.
The old home page was perfectly fine, if a bit dated - but not as dated as some other areas of Xero.

Hi everyone, we thoroughly appreciate the feedback we've been receiving about the sizing of widgets and desire for more flexibility with these.
Our product teams are currently working on updates to allow resizing of more of the widgets on the Homepage.
There are considerations that weigh into what's possible' like what information sits within each widget.
The resizing will work in the same way as what has been provided with the Cash in and out, and Chart of accounts watch list widget.
I'll be sure to keep you updated here as new widget sizes are rolled out. Thanks

I would accept the tell us once option (if factual) and then allow us to tick a box to never tell us again. These adverts are so distracting (and annoying). I do not want to be constantly fighting against Xero adverts when all I want to do is accounting work. I do not care if the adverts are only within the "Xero ecosystem" - they are still adverts and are not wanted. It reminds of the early days of the internet - where is the Xero pop-up blocker and ad blocker? Now that is an advert you can show me!

Hi team, we thoroughly appreciate the feedback we've received from our community here.
I want to share that our product team have made a recent change for the banner that you receive in invoicing, so now if you choose to 'dismiss' this it'll be permanent and the banner will no longer appear.
We want to be open that we don't have any plans to provide the ability to turn off online payments for an organisation completely.

I am so glad that I am not the only one who gets annoyed with Xero. Presently it is (I think) the best bookkeeping package out there but it does try really hard to lose that position.

When I createa new sales invoice (or copy one) I do not want to see the annoying payment options box. When I click dismiss I expect it to be dismissed for good. I do not want it reappearing when it feels like. When I see it again I get annoyed with Xero. Its reappearance is just annoying and not helpful - dismissed means forever

In this forum can I have the option to hide country specific suggestions that relate to another country? Being in the UK I do not care about NZ or AUS or US or anywhere else issues. I am only bothered about issues that effect my country or are generic across the world

We appreciate hearing how and why sub menus could be helpful in some sections of the navigation and this is something our product team are monitoring closely.
I will share if there are any plans or progress to share on this, here.

We appreciate you sharing feedback on the changes we could make to further enhance the new navigation for you, here!
Understanding that sub menus or more levelled drop downs could be helpful in some places, this is an idea our product team have a close eye on.
If there is any news I'll share an update with you all on this, here.

Thanks for your idea, Simone. Gosh that is a lot of bank accounts I can see why a search would help. No immediate changes planned for this but I'll share your feedback with our product team and we'll get a sense of others that'd find this useful from your idea, here. 🙂

If only Xero concentrated on the bookkeeping and not all the hidden and ill thought through software that no one sensible actually wants. To justify Xero's now annually ever increasing prices they need to up their game with their key product and just introduce all these important fixes

I do not understand the point of an address finder that doesn't find the UK address you want.
Why would the city name appear in both the Town box and the State/region box? Why on earth would you do that?
As Xero have announced UK prices are going up in September 2024, and will become an overpriced and expensive App, then I would expect that the UK address finder would actually work.
A cheap software would have half-baked ideas like a faulty address finder or none at all. But Xero can't overcharge and underdeliver.

Hi everyone, we appreciate the interest surrounding this idea, however we want to be open that we're unable to extend our log-out time past 60 minutes. Xero hold a lot of sensitive information including bank data and we're required to be as secure as online banking.
Any session information running on a web browser can potentially be stolen. If the session does not time out. You then have an infinitely long vulnerability window to session hijacking. Our best option is to keep a tight expiration window on the session cookie, and regenerate them frequently. Even setting a long timeout doesn't help with this - too long a timeout will greatly increase the risk of invasion or potentially jeopardise your personal data and the safety and integrity of the Xero application itself. This is why we maintain control of this.
If we detect there's been no activity on a page (e.g…An error occurred while saving the comment

So once again Xero is not listening - they are right and we are wrong and to prove it they will increase their prices

Seeing Xero is now a premium priced product, with the expensive sales income you will shortly be receiving you need to improve the fixed assets module. Fixed assets needs to remember that I want to see 50 items so next time I logon I don't have to look at 10 items and ask Xero to expand the view - this is basic stuff. Also I want the first month's depreciation to have a nil pence net book value - there should be an option for this.

554 votesHi community, we appreciate the continued traction this idea's received, and do want to provide clarity and set expectation.
Your feedback has been valuable in understanding the needs of using description only lines to; add subheadings, provide context for grouped charges, and ensure your invoices are easy for your clients to read and understand.
To reconfirm, atm - You can add one-off description only lines as you enter an invoice. However, if you add detail to any other field the line will be treated as a 'financial' line and you'll need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax rate.
- We know some users have set up and saved inventory items for description only lines they commonly use, however as the item code field is used for inventory items the line of the invoice is treated as 'financial' meaning you'll then need to include Qty, Unit price, Account and Tax…

Hi everyone, appreciate your continued feedback on new invoicing. As mentioned in my last update we've now added a new Xero Central page for new invoicing.
Along with updates to individual ideas on Xero Product Ideas, this page will become the single source of truth for key feature rollouts including:
- what’s available in new invoicing right now,
- timelines for features and enhancements going live in new invoicing, as well as
- a comparison table between the classic and newer versions of invoicing.
We'll be updating this page regularly.
Relating to some of the more recent feedback there are some existing ideas that may also be of particular interest that you can join, like the ability to see the email the invoice was sent to in the history, or being able to see a timestamp, and reducing clicks and steps.

I totally agree. Why on earth would Xero introduce a new version that has less functionality than the previous version? Except Xero does this ALL the time. This is fundamental.
I like the automatic save function on the new invoices but I hate everything else. The user interface is ****. The lack of features is awful. I used to type the due date as +0 for an invoice due today - but you can't do that on the backwards new version - WHY NOT?

The new home page is too busy and too cluttered, so much so that apart from the banks (when I can find them) I simply do not use it and I hate the uneven way the boxes finish at the bottom of the page - why can't I make boxes smaller? As usual Xero introduces something and claims it is better and ignores the flood of people asking for the changes to be reversed as they have been ill-thought through. Stop acting like a cult and thinking we are "haters" - we just want the best bookkeeping package to remain the best and not destroy itself through strange redesigns that keep taking it backwards.
