Hi everyone, we appreciate your patience & would like to thank everyone who’s shared their thoughts and supported this idea.
Xero's payroll reports do currently offer some options to adjust columns, filters & layout. However we hear & understand the need for having additional information & more flexibility with payroll reporting, including the ability to customise & save reports for future use.
Being open here, these improvements are not in our current pipeline. However we'll use this feedback to shape how we plan future improvements in Xero Payroll reports.

Why oh why can't Xero have the functionality to create custom reports? Even basic reports require downloading to Excel and data manipulation. For example - Payroll Tax. To create a report to allow calculation of payroll tax is an exercise in frustration with Xero. Other packages allow you to create the report once and then save it as a custom report.
Just another field where Xero has really dropped the ball.

Hi everyone, we know this remains a highly important request, and we appreciate the volume of detail you’ve shared around billing, delivery and contact management workflows in this idea.
As shared in our last update - our team has been progressing the next phase of work needed to bring this more meaningfully into invoicing.
We know many of you are looking for clearer timing, and while I’m not able to confirm a release date at this stage, I do want to reassure you this remains an active area of work for our product teams.
We’ll continue to return here with further updates as we move through the next stages. Thanks again for your patience and for continuing to share the workflows that make this so important.

Greg, I totally agree with you. Regretting moving from Reckon Desktop. Xero has created twice as much work for me, without the basic functionality that even Open Source packages have. We have one customer that may have 100 different site addresses in one year, and Xero is creating a nightmare.

New user to Xero here (2 months) and, from coming from Reckon Accounts, I am less than impressed that this basic functionality is not available. Even open source packages such as GnuCash has the ability of Customer:Job functionality.

Hi everyone, thanks for sharing your thoughts on having a payroll report that calculates payroll state tax. We understand some of you are required to calculate tax across multiple states.
While we don't currently have a report which calculates earnings based on state, some of you have mentioned workarounds such as using the Payroll Activity Summary report. This report includes earnings totals and can be filtered by a date range and employee groups.
We recognise the value a report of this nature could have for our customers and it’s been added to the wider pool of ideas for our product team to consider for future development.
While it’s not on our immediate roadmap, we’ll be sure to keep you looped in if there’s any progress.

@Arlene - as you will discover, Xero "support" is non existent. The idea of introducing features that customers actually needs is a fallacy. They just want things to look pretty, with functionality coming a poor last. Get used to having to use Excel to get any meaningful data ........

So - from Xero "support" .... "As you may be aware, currently, Xero Payroll doesn't calculate payroll tax automatically. It has not been included in our Xero Product and there are currently no plans to include this."
In other words - they want us to look for alternatives

Hear hear and hear. I just love having to download payroll data and save in excel every month, and use Crtl+F to find payroll items excluded from payroll tax .... when it was a one click report with Reckon Accounts.

Hi everybody, coming across from the previous forums we know this idea has a lot of interest.
There is a way of using Xero's reports to accomplish what you're asking here and save the format so you can easily access and send this report to your customers outside of Xero.
Running the Aged Receivables detail report you can choose how many ageing periods you'd like to show and set the period to '30 days'. Simply Filter the report by Contact and Update to run.
- Once you've got it set up, save as Custom so you can easily access this format anytime
- If you deal with groups of contacts this also means you could Filter for multiple contacts to combine the view into one report rather than multiple customer statements 🙂
- Export the report to PDF, where you can send to customers from your email system outside of Xero
We appreciate…

Hi community, thanks for continuing to engage, and sharing your needs in adding more layers to your chart of accounts structure.
We know especially for some of our US customers that this can sometimes be a show stopper in using of Xero.
Right now, we do have a product team that have begun exploring the efforts that'd be required to implement a change of this nature - while we can't commit to any development at this point we'll share any progression with you all here. Thanks

Coming from Reckon, I find this very annoying. Open source packages such as GnuCash have this basic functionality, why cant an expensive paid for package? Yes, you can add in things like 433 / 433.1 / 433.2 etc etc, but they are separate accounts, not a parent / child relationship.

@Parker adam - you obviously havent been using Xero for long. Critical needs are simply put in the too hard basket by Xeros so-called "support" ........
