Hey community, we know how this feature would really help reduce manual work, make reconciliation smoother, and give you more confidence when processing your bills, and managing orders.
Some customers have shared a possible solution for the time being of using the bill’s reference field for the PO number. We know this isn’t perfect, but might help in the interim.
I’m pleased to share that we’re refreshing purchase orders at present, and taking on board all the feedback surrounding the top requests from our customers in these forums.
Linkage between Purchase orders and Bills is a high focus for our team in this space. While we can’t give timelines atm, we’ll move the idea to In discovery and keep you updated as work progresses. 😊

Overtime Report by employee in one easy to read report
Managerment required a report to analyse overtime per employee over the course of a year - in one report. Only option in Xero is to run report employee by employee. (which would be incredibly time consuming)
A simple report would be -
- Rows would be list of employees
- Columns would be all the overtime categories,
- values would be sum of hours worked (or dollar value or both)
- parametres would be between two given dates.I could find no such useful report in Xero - instead I had to download the activity report into XL which was over ten thousand rows, then spend over half an hour deleting non overtime rows and format it in order to run a pivot table to get said report.
It seems to ridiculous that all this info is in Xero and should be reportable within seconds, instead it took me an hour. Furthermore - having to repeat all this every time I want an update.
thanks

WHY IS THERE NO PURCHASE ORDER FIELD IN THE BILLS TO PAY SECTION.
HONESTLY THIS IS SO INCONVENIENT. I NEED TO RUN A REPORT TO SEE WHAT PO'S HAVE BEEN MATCHED TO WHAT INVOICE FOR A SUPPLIER, BUT BECAUSE THERE IS NO PO FIELD IN THE BILL I HAVE TO MANUALLY GO THROUGH AN ENTER THEM ALL. ITS BEYOND RIDICULOUS THAT AN ACCOUNTING SOFTWARE DOESN'T HAVE THIS FIELD.

This field would help match our bills received to our sales system which generates our POs

Is there a specific report or reports you'd like to do this with, Suveera.
Xero analytics is one way of getting more of a visual view of an organisations performance, or alternatively you'll find there are a couple of reports like the Income and Expense by Contact reports that enable you to show a chart of your top 10 customers or suppliers.

Hi everyone, thanks for your feedback and detail of why searching b y serial # would be of use. We understand how this'd be beneficial when you have multiple of the same asset being registered.
At this time, as with a few parts of Xero our product team in the Fixed Assets space are focused on updating some core Fixed Assets technology to provide future capability and a consistent look and feel to what you've begun seeing in other parts of Xero like reports, and invoicing.
We'll keep watching the support for ideas closely and share any updates with you all.

Hi everyone, it'd be good to know if there are there any specific reports that you'd find this particularly helpful in?

REPORT PREFERENCES:
Have the option to show nil balance as a number ie - 0.00 instead of just a dash -
Showing an actual zero instead of dash, or at least having the option to would make the report visually easier to read, as the dash gets lost in all the report lines especially when running an account transaction or general ledger report with lots of accounts.

I would like to give our employees access to Xero Me however I don't wish for them to have access to the timesheet because 1. we are using another system and 2. it seems they would also have access to the list of all the pay items. I would only like them to see pay items relevant to them not all the pay items for all the different states.

Hi community, thank you to everyone who's shared and supported the ability to email credit notes to Xero.
We understand why you'd like to be able to automate the flow and entry of Credit Notes in Xero, however this isn't something we have plans of developing within Xero right now.
As mentioned in my last update it's possible to currently automate entry of Credit Notes in Xero, by publishing these through Hubdoc -You can find steps to connecting Hubdoc to your Xero organisation, or detail on publishing Credit notes, on Xero Central.
If there are any changes put in place for this, we'll let you know.

I note this has been sitting here for 5 years so i don't think anything will ever be done about it.
Xero has money for fancy tv ads but none for basic common sense product development.

Its beyond ridiculous that this doesn't already exist.
I don' t want to use Hub Doc either. (Does Xero think palming off basic functionality to a 3rd party add on is how you solve functionality issues?)
Could you please fix this.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the possible solution we shared a few months ago. After careful consideration taking all feedback on board, we will not be moving forward with this solution.
We're still considering how we might solve for the issues presented here over the long term and there are other pieces of work the team are currently delving into such as duplicate bills detection that may also help solve some needs here.
That said, we'll move the idea back to Submitted and continue to keep you updated on any progression that can help the needs expressed through the idea here. Thanks

Hi Kristen, appreciate you sharing in product ideas here. While this isn't something we have plans for I wanted to confirm you can currently check leave accruals by clicking on the employee's payslip prior to posting the pay run.
Once the pay run's posted, before it's filed, you could run the report and find any issues, and revert it back to draft to make changes if necessary.

Thanks for the great discussion and all the votes on this idea. We know that without the ability to set specific leave approvers, it can be harder to keep governance clear, avoid self-approval and ensure requests go to the right person.
While we’re not planning to develop dedicated approval workflows in the near term, we want to share a tip that many have found useful. You can help streamline the process by guiding employees to select their direct manager from the approver list. While all payroll admins and leave approvers are listed, this step helps make sure requests reach the right person and keeps oversight clear.
Your feedback here is incredibly valuable for future planning and we’ll continue to keep an eye on this idea’s traction. We’ll keep it open for voting and will share any updates if plans change down the track.

Hi everyone, I appreciate feelings shared in not seeing traction as fast as you'd like to ideas you're interested across Xero Product Ideas.
Our community team are pure advocates for our customers ideas internally, making sure these are shared and highlighted to the teams and individuals that can make a difference, and doing our best to get ideas reviewed and into our teams planning wherever possible.
We receive ideas for incremental, and large changes to existing products, as well as for new features entirely. With so many customers the range of ideas coming from our users is large, and we cannot action all things at once.
We try to be transparent in our communication and updates to ideas across the site, even if this means there is no current development planned for a feature.
I can assure you the site here is a tool that all our product teams find…

its crazy that there isn't a purchase order number field in the bills window. I can't believe Xero built a whole accounting software and omitted that field!
My work around has been to include the PO number after the invoice number (so both numbers in the same field) which makes it harder to detect duplicates invoice numbers.
I can't just put the po number in the notes as I need to be able to search by PO number and the search doesn't extend to notes.
